“Jairo did an exceptional job looking after our pups. He's very punctual, reliable and keeps us up to date with everything. He's great with the dogs and gives us peace of mind while we're away.”

“We are so pleased with Lisa and her care for our dogs. We can tell a definite difference in their behavior than in the past when they’ve been left with others. They are calm and happy, and were definitely well loved while we were away.”

“Fantastic! My dog is usually skittish around new people, but Jennifer has the magic touch and immediately made her feel comfortable. Jennifer was so sweet to her! I am happy to have found such an amazing person to look after my fur baby. 👍”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life, specifically Maltese, so caring for pets has always been a normal part of my life. I also currently have two cats of my own, so I’m very comfortable caring for both dogs and cats and understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. While I’m newer to pet sitting through Rover, I have many years of hands-on experience caring for my own pets. I’m dependable, patient, and attentive, and I’m comfortable following specific feeding schedules, walking routines, and any other instructions you have for your pet. I’m also happy to send regular photos and updates so you can feel comfortable knowing how they’re doing. Outside of pet care, I’m currently finishing my master’s degree in counseling and have spent several years in roles that require a high level of responsibility, communication, and trust. I’ll treat your pets and your home with the same care and respect I would want someone to show my own. My schedule is fairly flexible, especially during weekday mornings and early afternoons. I’m currently finishing graduate school and generally schedule my other work later in the day, which gives me plenty of availability for walks, drop-in visits, and pet care throughout the week. I can also accommodate some evenings and weekends depending on the day. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet, especially when that means welcoming someone into your home. I’ll always follow your instructions closely and do my best to keep your pet’s normal routine consistent, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any specific care they need. I’m attentive to each pet’s personality and comfort level and won’t force interaction if they need some time to warm up. I’ll also treat your home with respect, make sure everything is secure before I leave, and keep you updated so you know your pet is safe and well cared for.
About: While I'm new to Rover and professional dog sitting, dogs have been at the center of my life for years. I currently share my Spring Branch (City Center) home with two English Bulldogs, and I've also been a mommy to two French Mastiffs and a French Bulldog. I know firsthand what it takes to care for brachycephalic and giant breeds well, from managing heat sensitivity and breathing needs, to skin fold care, joint support, and the particular quirks that come with these wonderful (and almost always stubborn!) breeds. I understand their special needs because I've lived them every day, not just read about them. Beyond my own dogs, I'm deeply involved in dog rescue work, which has given me experience with dogs from all kinds of backgrounds: anxious rescues, seniors, dogs recovering from medical issues, and everything in between. That work has taught me patience, careful observation, and how to make every dog feel safe, whether they're a confident, well-adjusted pup or one who needs a little extra reassurance. I'm also passionate about canine nutrition, and I pay close attention to feeding schedules, portion needs, and any dietary sensitivities, so if your dog has a special diet or feeding routine, you can trust it will be followed exactly as instructed. But more than the experience and knowledge, what I bring is genuine love for this work. Interacting with dogs isn't just something I do. It's something that brings me real joy. Your dog won't just be looked after. They'll be cared for by someone who truly delights in their company, treats them like family, and gives them the calm, attentive, and safe environment they deserve. Pet care is woven into my everyday life, not something I have to carve out extra time for. My two English Bulldogs are on a consistent daily schedule of feeding, yard time, and walks, so caring for another dog fits naturally alongside that routine. I work just 2 miles from home, 9 am to 4 pm, with the flexibility to run home during the day for potty breaks, snacks, and check-ins, so dogs in my care are never left alone for long stretches. Because I'm involved in dog rescue, I'm also used to adjusting my routine for dogs with different needs, whether that's a stricter feeding schedule, medication timing, or just extra patience for a dog who's still settling in. My fenced yard gets used daily, and I make time for real interaction, not just supervision, since being around dogs is genuinely one of my favorite parts of the day. In My Home (Boarding): Your dog becomes part of the household during their stay. They have access to my fenced yard for supervised play and potty breaks throughout the day, and since I work just 2 miles away with flexibility to come home during the day, no dog is left alone for long stretches. I follow your dog's regular feeding schedule and any dietary needs exactly as instructed, and I make sure there's plenty of one-on-one attention, not just a safe space to stay. My own English Bulldogs are calm and well-socialized which helps new guests settle in quickly. I pay close attention to nutrition and feeding needs, watch for any signs of stress or health concerns, and give dogs with special needs, including brachycephalic breeds, the extra attention they require for things like heat sensitivity and breathing. My background in dog rescue means I'm comfortable adapting to dogs with different temperaments and histories, and above all, I genuinely enjoy the time I spend with them.
“Arlo definitely likes his new friend he couldn’t tell me if he enjoyed his walks or playtime with his favorite toy more. I’d say he was a happy boy and I was a happy mom Kristen kept me up to date with pictures, and text of how he was. Arlo has high energy and she did amazing with him and helped continue his training. We will be using Kristen in the future thank you for taking care of my baby.”

About: I'm an attentive and reliable pet lover who believes every pet deserves high quality care, routine, and engaging mental stimulation while you're away. I care for my family's energetic young corgi, so I'm well versed in handling small-medium breeds, maintaining feeding schedules, and keeping dogs happy and active. I love incorporating simple enrichment games--like hiding treat puzzles for them to sniff out! Im working part time, so I am available for afternoon or early evening drop-ins and/ or walks on weekdays! Schedule varies on weekends so I will need notice beforehand. I respect the pet-parent's home by following the rules they establish before my first visit. The pet's care and comfort are my priorty for the owner's peace of mind. Hence why I provide pictures and updates to the pet parents, with frequency varying by preference.
About: I started pet sitting and dog walking for friends and family many years ago which led me to working at a pet lodge for a friend when there were shifts to pick up. There I could handle anywhere from 5 to 15+ dogs of various breeds and sizes. I grew up with all sorts of animals but mostly dogs and cats. I really do love animals of all sorts. My biggest flex? I tend to befriend the unfriendly and shy ones. Currently, I am not working so I have open availability. When I start school in the fall, I will be doing it online so my schedule will not have to change with any clients that I might have. I always made sure my cats’ area was clean and stocked; meaning their litter box, food bowls are filled, and toys put away when they weren’t playful. When I had a dog, I would put them in the crate if I was leaving or going to bed when we were still training them, but after a while I kept them out. I like to maintain a regular routine so that they were not stressed.

“I loved and appreciated Cherish taking care of Butternut while I was away! She was communicative and took so many pics for me to look through! Butternut loved having someone to socialize with & play with!”

“Kara was wonderful, highly recommend! She took excellent care of our senior dog, gave him medicine while we were away, and even stopped over for an extra visit that we did not have her originally scheduled for when she noticed that he was not feeling well.”
About: I’ve cared for dogs for over 25 years and used to have two Yorkies and a Maltipoo — they were my babies! I naturally connect with dogs and treat every one as family. Friends often call me their dogs’ favorite pet grandma because I spoil them with love, gentle cuddles, and lots of attention. I create a calm, safe, and happy space where each pup feels understood, cared for, and truly at home. I recently moved from Ukraine to be closer to my kids and grandkids. I’m available throughout the whole week and have a very flexible schedule. Caring for dogs brings me joy, so I’m happy to spend quality time with your furry friends whenever you need — weekdays or weekends.h I have open front and back yards where I can safely walk your furry babies or take them for a relaxing stroll to the closest park. I always make sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and loved — just like they’re part of my own family.

About: I've taken care of both cats and dogs since I was about 10 years old. Growing up, we frequently had both cats and dogs in the house. I also volunteered at an animal shelter for about 2 years before working there for 1 year. I have pet sat for a family every summer for the last 8 years or so and I also worked at a pet boarding place 1 summer. I'm currently working part-time so I will absolutely have time to take care of your pet! I can stay overnight and take care of a pet, and only work an average of six hours a day so I still have plenty of time to spend with a pet! I spend a lot of time hanging out with and getting to know each pet in order to meet their needs. I can play, walk, and feed pets as well as just be a calming presence if that is helpful for them.
“Risi made sure my cats were well taken care of while I was on my work trip (: She played music for the cats to keep them calm and even cleaned up after their messes! Will definitely book her again in the future.”

“Karina is very helpful. She took great care of Momo when I was away and also let me know any questions timely. If there’s a chance I would love to book again with her.”

“Sarah is a great sitter. She took care of my cat’s needs over the holiday break while providing updates the entire time. I definitely plan on booking her again in the future!”

About: My background includes hands on experience working with active breeds—including assisting with the training of a Belgian Malinois—so I am comfortable managing high-energy dogs, enforcing consistent rules, and keeping up with daily exercise routines. From active outdoor adventures to quiet companionship and routine feedings for both dogs and cats, I treat every pet like my own. As a physical education teacher, my schedule offers clear, predictable availability outside of school hours. I have dedicated time during evenings and select weekends for dog walking, house visits, and overnight care. My routine is naturally active, making it easy to incorporate consistent daily walks, play sessions, and structured care for dogs and cats alike. Please check my calendar for updated weekend availability. Pet safety and peace of mind are my top priorities. When caring for pets in my home, they enjoy a secure, comfortable environment with access to a dedicated room for quiet downtime or overnight stays, alongside regular visits to nearby neighborhood parks and green spaces for outdoor exercise. Whether at my home or yours, I follow your exact feeding, routine, and care instructions to keep pets relaxed and safe. With experience managing energetic dogs and providing attentive drop in care for cats, I ensure every pet gets structured, loving attention.

“Supper happy with Maggie! I needed a last minute drop-in for my little Franco due to my sudden work schedule and she was very prompt. I got a photo with an update and she communicated with me before the visit. Highly recommend and will definitely be booking with her again!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hedwig Village
She was great! I've used Rover for several years for my dog, but this is the first time I've ever used the service for my cat. I can only compare her to friends and family over the years and let me tell you: I'll go with Alejandra every time! My cat's about 16 and she has always been traumatized when I leave for more than a couple of days. She was totally chill and happy when I got back. Super lovey but not upset or too clingy. I loved getting the pics every day, too - Alejandra is very thorough and attentive to details (food water litter were all perfect). She and kitty got along great. I get a super vibe from her, too: genuine and kind. Big fan here!
Shiela has done drop-in visits to care for our cats several times now, and she’s always wonderful. She thoughtfully notes in her daily report that she has remembered to give medication and has locked the door behind her - just to eliminate any possible worry we might have. And she has successfully won over our very shy cat, who used to hide under the bed during drop-ins but now comes out to say hi to her and purrs for pets and treats. 💜
Cheyenne did an amazing job taking care of our dogs, Baby Boy and Milo. She was loving, attentive, and dependable throughout their stay. It was clear that she genuinely cared about their well-being and treated them like her own pets. We felt completely at ease knowing they were in her care, and she kept us updated, which we greatly appreciated. Baby Boy and Milo were happy, comfortable, and well cared for when we returned. Thank you, Cheyenne, for taking such great care of our boys! We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter, and we would definitely book with her again.
Arlo definitely likes his new friend he couldn’t tell me if he enjoyed his walks or playtime with his favorite toy more. I’d say he was a happy boy and I was a happy mom Kristen kept me up to date with pictures, and text of how he was. Arlo has high energy and she did amazing with him and helped continue his training. We will be using Kristen in the future thank you for taking care of my baby.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
