Tara was great with Bernie. He is a big dog and can get into mischief. We were able to all go on a family vacation thanks to finding Tara. Her communication is 5 stars and she followed the directions for Bernie to the letter. We appreciate the great care Bernie had and will be using Tara again!

About: I've lived with animals my entire life. Growing up, we had five dogs, four cats, bunnies and guinea pigs, snakes and lizards, fish, and chickens. Currently, while living at home in the summers, we have snakes, lizards, spiders, a cat, and three dogs, one of which is mine. My dog Winston is a service dog in training that my mom and I are owner-training. While I'm in no way a professional trainer, I can help with teaching or maintaining the basics with any dog. I'm currently home for the summer from school and waiting on an application for a part-time job. I am free most of the day right now, as I haven't started working yet. So, I can come over and take care of any pet's needs most any time. I can take care of your animals' needs any time, whether it's taking them on a walk, letting them outside, feeding, cleaning up, or playing with them. My dogs at home are crate trained, so if your dog also stays in a crate at certain points of the day or night, I can easily crate them.

My experience in working with Taylor was excellent. Great communicator and most importantly cared for my 10yr lab while out in a work trip. Taylor went above and beyond what was required as she left the house spotless, and washed bedding and bathroom towels before leaving.

Amber is amazing, she came over and our dogs took to her immediately. Our oldest puppy can be a little challenging due to her being skittish, but Amber’s personality and energy helped ease her nervousness. Very reliable, and was able to help us out on short notice. I HIGHLY recommend!

About: Loving, Reliable Pet Care Right In Your Backyard! Hi - I am a part-time local pet sitter who truly understands that pets are family. I am here to ensure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you're away. I offer drop-in visits, dog walks, overnight (at your house) sitting, and can care for dogs, cats, and some birds. My goal is simple: keep your pet's routine as normal and stress-free as possible and to give you peace of mind. When you book with me, you can expect: -Plenty of love and attention (belly rubs included!) -Photo updates -Recap notes on how they did -I can administer oral meds if needed -Clean food and water bowls, tity litter boxes, and refreshed spaces I will always schedule a meet-and-greet first so I can learn about you, your pet's personality and preferences, and complete a profile for my records. I take reliability seriously and treat your home with the same respect I would my own. I look forward to meeting you and your furry (or feathered!) family members! I currently work full-time, and pet care is my part-time passion. My weekday availability (Monday–Friday) is limited to 5:00–6:00 AM and after 5:00 PM. I do have some flexibility depending on your needs and am happy to discuss specific timing upon request. Weekends are generally open unless otherwise marked unavailable on my calendar. Please feel free to reach out to discuss your pet’s needs—I’ll always do my best to accommodate when possible! At this time, I do not have the means to board pets at my house for an extended stay but am looking into it in the future.

About: I have spent years caring for the dogs of friends and family, and I’ve realized there is nothing I enjoy more. Since my current apartment doesn't allow pets, I have a "dog-sized hole" in my life that I’d love to fill by caring for yours! Being self-employed gives me a very flexible schedule, allowing me to prioritize your dog’s routine—whether they need a long midday trek or a dedicated house sitter to keep them company while you’re away. As a self-employed professional, my schedule is very flexible, allowing me to easily integrate pet care into my daily routine. Since I work from home and cannot have dogs in my own apartment, I treat my walks and house-sitting bookings as my primary motivation to get outside for walks. My priority is maintaining your dog's familiar routine to keep them stress-free. I provide dedicated companionship, and because I am self-employed, I can often bring my work with me to ensure your pet isn't left alone for long periods.

About: Hi! My name is Marinda and I chose to be apart of Rover because I have always loved animals. I serve as a manager at a local veterinary hospital and have years of experience when it comes to dog watching. I’m hoping this is an opportunity I’ll be able to take care of others dogs! I have always enjoyed all types of dogs and seem to get along with them all as well. Hope to be able to be apart of your pets life! I am a full time employee who would love to have a second job but doesn’t have the time for it, so, I fill in my easy days with Rover! It’s easy to manage with my own hours! First and foremost I read about the pet and what the owners have to say about them. This will give me a good idea for what I am getting into when I enter the owners house. I will already know how the dogs are going to act and I will be prepared. I never leave the doors unlocked/open unless advised by the owner. I will do exactly what the owner has said to do. I will always double check a dog is secured with their leash when going outside, I will also be aware of the weather and how that might switch the dogs needs when going outside.

First time user of Rover, and we love Sydney! Our dogs loved her, which one of our dogs is not a fan of strangers. But he approved so much that he jumped up and cuddled next to her immediately. Which DOES NOT happen! She was thorough with asking questions. We will be using Sydney again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Hartland

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Hartland on Rover is $37.74 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,274 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hartland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hartland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hartland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hartland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hartland. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
