“I cannot recommend her enough! She watched Otis for 2 nights and treated him like he was her own. From the moment I dropped him off, I felt completely at ease. She was so kind, communicative, and thoughtful throughout the entire stay. She sent me lots of updates and photos, which meant so much and made being away from my boy so much easier. You could genuinely tell how much love and attention he was getting the whole time. He came home happy, comfortable, and clearly very well cared for. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, attentive, and truly loving with animals, she is absolutely the person to book. I would 100% use her again!”

“Rebecca was the best! She was so flexible in meeting me to drop off/pick up my dog, and I could tell that my dog loved spending time with her. She was smiling and wagging her tail when I picked her up and I know she had the best time. She sent photos throughout her stay and kept me in the loop. If I ever need someone to watch Willow again I know who to contact. Thank you!”

“We are so pleased with our dog's stay with Stacey. She was so easy to communicate with. When I came to pick up, my dog looked very happy and well cared for. I would definitely use Stacey in the future and recommend her to any pet owners looking for a caring home for a temporary stay.”

“We cannot say enough about the loving and caring environment created for our 🐶. She is 5 and had never stayed with anyone other than family and somehow Jani & Paul made it seem like our Lucy was with family. We cannot recommend them enough!”

“We needed a dog sitter last minute and Cory was able to accommodate and watch our dog Otto for the entire weekend we needed. He was very communicative and sent lots of pictures and updates throughout the weekend. Our dog was very happy and was well cared for the entire time. I would highly recommend using Cory and will definitely be reaching out to him again next time I am in the area.”

“Amanda was great with our puppy, Pampa. We got lots of updates on how she was doing and was very easy to communicate with. Her dog Theo was great with Pampa too, you could tell they had a lot of fun together over her stay. Would definitely recommend Amanda for anyone looking for a dog sitter! We’ll be sure to use her in the future as well.”

“Erin took such great care of Honey. Friendly family. Accepting and fun furries of her own that might just turn into best 4-legged friends. We will definitely be repeat customers. Thank you Erin!”

“Pam and MICHAEL are so caring and kind. Finley had a great time at their house playing in their backyard and with the other dog visitors. She was happy to see us but she also seems sad to leave. I would highly recommend Pam and MICHAEL.”

About: I have worked in the pet care industry for 12 years as a groomer and pet care technician in a boarding and daycare facility. I grew up on a farm, taking care of all manner of animals, from bunnies to goats and horses. My family rescued and fostered dogs from the time I was a young girl and I have been petsitting since I was a teenager. I love using my pet care skills to help you and your pets feel more comfortable when you are away. I take your pets well being and safety as seriously as if they were my own. In my free time I enjoy teaching my Dachshund tricks, dance moves and dressing him in silly costumes for my Instagram account. “Our dog Jasper had a great stay with Brianne! She was so sweet to him and it seems like he went on lots of hikes and walks- he came home very happy & tired :-) She was very easy to work with, flexible, responsive and sent a few nice pics of their adventures each day. Thanks Brianne! We will be back :-)”

“Jonathan met me at the door right on time and Bronco was welcomed by his dogs and they took off to the fully fenced in back yard and he fit right in. He was well taken care of and right on time for pick up. Highly recommend.”

“Esther was excellent! It was very apparent that our dog was in great hands. There were many dog park trips and I could tell from the pictures I received that my dog was having an awesome vacation of her own. If you are looking for someone who loves animals and will treat your dog as their own, look no further! Thanks again, Esther!”

“This was our second time leaving the pups with Tiffanie, she is fantastic! She is great with sending photos and keeping us up to date on their activities and adventures.”

“Ruby was excited and enjoyed staying with Madison. She did not appear to be at all anxious when we dropped her off, or when we picked her up. Often Ruby is initially uncomfortable and worried during her first stay, but that was not the case. We will definitely schedule her stay with Madison in the future!”

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! There is no way I can explain how wonderful Alyssa and John were with my lab/rotty mix. She has never been away from me and I was worried. Their communication was outstanding - sending pics everyday and Maeve thoroughly enjoyed herself. USE THEM FOR YOUR PET!!!!

Diane was so nice and kind. She provided updates and images of my fur baby and her kids definitely enjoyed Liam. When I came to pick Liam up, the kids were sad which showed me they really cared for him and loved on him a lot. Liam looked calm which meant he felt safe with Diane and her children. I will definitely use Diane again.

Mimi had a great time staying with Hazzar and her friendly pups and family. Hazzar kept me updated with pictures and tips for treats or types of food that Mimi liked while on her "pup vacation" and I felt confident Mimi was in good hands! Highly recommend Hazzar as a caring, reliable pet sitter guaranteed to take care of your pup and any stress you may feel leaving your pup.

Jo was fantastic with Gizmo! She sent pictures throughout the stay, which I really appreciated. Gizmo came home happy and tired out from a great week—you could tell he had a blast. He got along well with Jo, Kayla, and Cricket, and it was clear he was well cared for the whole time. Highly recommend Jo for anyone looking for a sitter who treats your dog like part of the family!

Bella was amazing with my anxious dog. She helped him relax by taking him for long trail walks and was great about letting him roam the house instead of using a crate. Great communication, daily photo updates, and very responsive by reaching out and asking questions when she had a concern. My pup came home happy and tired! I will definitely use her again

Giavanna did an excellent job taking care of Henry. She kept us updated with pictures throughout his stay. It was clear from the updates that she was attentive and genuinely cared about making sure he was happy and comfortable. Henry came home relaxed and well cared for, which says everything. We really appreciate the attention and communication, and we would absolutely trust Giavanna to watch him again. Highly recommend!

Walter had a wonderful time with Elizabeth. She kept us informed how Walter was doing with pictures and texts. Walter even made a new doggie friend at her house. It was lovely to be able to enjoy our vacation and know that Walter was well cared for. My husband and I would recommend Elizabeth to anyone who asks. Thank you!

Beth was amazing and the perfect choice for looking after my Reggie. She gave him top care, love, and attention. She was wonderful with him and provided lots of updates and photos. This was Reggie’s first stay with a sitter and I’m so glad it was with Beth! I highly recommend her!

I was very happy with Olivia’s care of our dog Story while we were away for just over 24 hours! Mostly I was pleased by Story’s eagerness to meet her and her roommates, and their interest in her, as well as how Story responded to Olivia when we picked her up. Will definitely rebook when needed and it suites.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
