“Hope was wonderful to work with and so caring of our dog Ethan. She sends you updates and clearly knows what dogs need. Ethan seemed really happy to spend time w Hope. Thank you so much”

“Paige is amazing! She was thoughtful and communicative ahead of time about how Pepper might interact with the other dogs and made sure she had space for a break if needed. She had comfy beds all over that pepper took full advantage of, haha. She sent lots of pictures so we felt connected while we were gone. Everything went super smoothly and we would absolutely use Paige again! She even dropped off a little Christmas gift weeks later :).”

“Our dog connected with Heather immediately! It was clear from the photos and messages that our dog was enjoying her time with Heather and extremely comfortable in her home. Heather is personable and professional, and we would book her again to care for our dog.”

“Yana is amazing! She took such great care of my dog and sent daily pictures and updates which gave me peace of mind that he was happy and healthy while I was away. Highly recommend her!”

“Pam and MICHAEL are so caring and kind. Finley had a great time at their house playing in their backyard and with the other dog visitors. She was happy to see us but she also seems sad to leave. I would highly recommend Pam and MICHAEL.”

“This is the 3rd time we’ve used Heather and Nigel’s dog boarding services. We had a family emergency this time so had to book on a pretty short notice. We were very relieved when they were able to take her, since our dog always has a fantastic time with them. We would fully recommend them!”

“Jenny was terrific especially as she was challenged by my 70 lb lab grand-dog who got into everything, including some horse feed. She seemed to take it all in stride, the dogs seemed happy and all was well. I didn't realize how many dogs would be together that weekend; a good thing to ask if it matters to you. Our dog, Gracie, would love to return!”

“We were very pleased with Jesse & Emily’s care for our pup. They clearly enjoyed keeping him and sent us multiple updates & photos. We particularly appreciated photos of their kids enjoying our pup’s company. We expect to be return clients.”

“We cannot say enough about the loving and caring environment created for our 🐶. She is 5 and had never stayed with anyone other than family and somehow Jani & Paul made it seem like our Lucy was with family. We cannot recommend them enough!”

“So helpful, my booking was last minute and i greatly appreciate Whitney being able to watch my pups for me. My dogs were so warm out from playing so much at her house. Will definitely keep her at the top of my list!”

“Julie and her family took wonderful care of, spoiled really, our dog Waffles. We are so thankful to have found Julie. We give Julie our highest recommendation for caring for other dogs.”

“Caroline took great care of our boy while we were on a long vacation! We got tons of updates and pictures and our dog seemed happy and tired when we got back.”

“This is a long over due review! I left my pup with Joey for about half a week and he is great. The Instagram stories are a great and creative way to show what your pup is up to! But more importantly he understands dog behavior. If you are considering him for any services at all, let this be your sign to stress no longer!!”

About: Growing up I had just about every animal you could think of although dogs specifically have a special place in my heart! I previously worked at a boarding facility so I’m familiar with most breeds and have a rescue husky of my own! I currently work 8:30AM-5:30PM Monday-Friday. I am available to tend to your pet before and after work as well as on my 1 hour lunch break if you’re close! I’m also available most weekends. I’m mainly looking to care for your pets in your home. However, depending on the situation I may be willing to bring them into my home as well!
“Another wonderful experience with Charity as our pet sitter! I never have concerns when Finn is with her, she cares for him as though he is her dog. Thank you Charity, you are the best!!”

“Tyler was communicative, helpful, and flexible! Sundance had the best time out on his farm and came home happy. You can really tell Tyler enjoys time with animals and treats them like one of his own. Highly recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Gordonsville
We felt very safe leaving our dog with Mary. She was incredibly attentive and kept us updated with excellent communication throughout her stay. Knowing our dog was in such good hands allowed us to fully enjoy our son’s wedding without worrying. We highly recommend Mary and look forward to using her again!

A true gift. Mary watched over our senior dog with hip and knee issues. Flawlessly administered medication and provided frequent updates throughout the day. She gave our family the peace of mind that we were looking for. Truly the best dog sitter I have ever encountered and extremely kind to humans too, thank you Mary!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
