“Julie is FABULOUS! She offered to do a Meet & Greet beforehand which I loved. She is super sweet and our foster pup immediately took to her! (He even tried to follow her out the door as she left.) She took excellent care of him, and I have no doubt she treats all her clients like her own. If we need someone again- Julie will be our go-to!”

About: My step-dad is a vet and I worked with him at the animal hospital from ages 11 to 26. We have a 66lb Berniedoodle (Preemo) and a cat (Guru). We have a big yard to play with dogs outside. It’s not fenced so dogs only go outside when supervised. I also trained aggressive dogs in the mountains of Mexico (Guanajuato) so they could get adopted instead of put down. I work during the day Mon-Fri and my wife mainly works from home so our pets aren’t rarely alone. I prefer to spend all day outside or at the park so dogs will get plenty of exercise. Our dog and cat love each other and everyone they’ve ever met. Our house is big and we have a lot of property to play fetch and run around.

About: Hi! I’m a responsible and dependable college student who truly loves animals. I’ve cared for dogs for family, friends, and neighbors by feeding them, taking them on walks, giving them lots of attention, and making sure they feel safe and comfortable. I understand that every pet has a different personality and routine, and I’ll always follow your instructions carefully. Whether your dog needs a fun walk, playtime, or someone to keep them company, I’ll treat them like they’re my own. My goal is to make sure both you and your pet feel happy, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I’m currently a student, but I have time throughout the week and on weekends to care for pets. My class schedule is planned, so I can stay organized and provide dependable care. I’ll make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, exercise, playtime, and love while following their normal routine. I’ll also keep you updated with messages and photos so you know they’re in good hands. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I’ll carefully follow your instructions, including feeding schedules, walks, medications (if needed), and any special routines. I treat every pet like they’re my own by giving them lots of love, attention, and patience. I always make sure they have a safe environment, fresh water, and plenty of care while you’re away. I also believe in keeping pet owners updated with regular messages and pictures for peace of mind.

About: I was gifted a dog when I was younger that I grew up caring for up until she was older. Caring for her included washing, taking her to the groomers, and ensuring she had the best food and many toys to play with. At the end of the day, she was my dog and my responsibility to care for. I have always hung around pets due to my grandparents having dogs and my aunt & uncles owning cats & dogs. My friend has a cat that I will sometimes cat-sit when she is out of town. I currently am a student and have a mixture of online and in-person classes. So, when I am not at school I am studying, and I'm at home. I currently do not have any other job commitments at the moment. Caring for pets is essential for their well-being. I always ensure that my space brings a piece of comfort, safety, and playfulness. I will ensure they have plenty of potty breaks and walks to ensure no accidents and give them time to get their energy out before the night is over. If medication is needed, it is my essential duty to be on top of giving your pet the correct dose & at the correct time.

About: The services I offer are dog walks and check ins. I am currently 26 years old and graduated from UNCC in May of 2022. I have always loved animals ever since I was a little girl. I started caring for family and friends animals when I was 12 years old and will often help out friends and family when they need me to. What sets me apart from other sitters and walkers is that I will take the time to love and care for your animal like it was my own. I always try to go above and beyond whatever my task is. I hope to one day be able to care and love your animal as if you were there. I work full time during the week but I am free all day during the weekends. I would be able to provide walks and daily care for your pet. I have two cats and one dog who are very loving to all humans and animals . I want your pet to feel comfortable while you are away.

About: Hey, I’m Doug. I’ve had dogs my whole life and can’t imagine it any other way. I’ve owned and loved several different breeds over the years, and right now I share my home with a big, lovable German Shepherd and a 16 year old calico cat who has a lot of sass and attitude. I’m also a dad of two, and while my kids are in school I’m looking to earn some extra income doing something I genuinely enjoy. I love being outside, going on long walks, throwing the ball, and ending the day with plenty of snuggles. I’m very responsible and take pet care seriously, but I also try to keep things easy and fun. I’ll always keep you in the loop with updates and photos so you know your pet is happy, safe, and getting lots of attention. If you’re looking for someone who treats your pets like they’re part of the family, I’d love to help out. I’m primarily available on weekdays between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm, which lines up well with mid day check ins, drop ins, and visits while you’re at work. I’m also available some evenings, depending on the day. I can probably work with your schedule, just message me! I’m a parent of two, so I focus on providing reliable care during school hours and select evenings when I can give your pet my full attention. If you have a schedule question or a special request, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to talk through what might work best. When I’m caring for pets in your home, I try to keep things as close to their normal routine as possible. I know how important familiarity is, especially when their people are away. I follow your instructions closely when it comes to feeding, medication, litter box care, playtime, and any little quirks your pet might have. I always make sure your home is left just as I found it. Food and water areas stay clean, litter boxes are scooped, and I do a quick check to make sure everything looks safe and secure before I leave. I also spend time with your pet based on what they’re comfortable with, whether that’s playtime, gentle attention, or just calm company. I’ll keep you updated with notes and photos so you know how things are going and can feel at ease while you’re away. My goal is for you to feel confident that both your pet and your home are being well cared for.

About: My family has had dogs for 14 years and I've personally cared for my cat, Delilah, for 13 years. Throughout high school I regularly pet sat for family and friends, and today I'm the go-to sitter for my sister's cat and fish on an ongoing basis. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, and I take pride in making sure animals feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I work a flexible schedule from home, which means I have plenty of availability throughout the week for walks and drop-in visits. I can accommodate morning, midday, and afternoon visits on most days, and I'm available for house sitting when owners are traveling. I'm reliable, communicative, and will always confirm scheduling details in advance so you never have to worry. I provide care in your pet's own home, which means they get to stay in the environment they know and love, no stress of a new place. I'm attentive to each pet's individual routine, dietary needs, and personality. I have 13 years of experience caring for my own senior cat, so I'm especially comfortable with pets that require extra attention or gentle handling. I always send updates and photos so you feel connected even when you're away.

I can’t say enough about Rachel and the great job she did taking care of our sweet chocolate lab Mik. He has a lot of energy and she took him for a long beautiful walk in a park. From the start, you could see she made an immediate connection with Mik and that made us comfortable too. So grateful for her and the way she communicated through regular texts and pics! She is definitely our go-to and highly recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a caring, friendly, kind-hearted person who will listen to your pets (and your) needs!!

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Harrisburg. On Rover:

  • 95% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
