We’ve used Lauren several times and on this trip away we hit a major delay in our return. Lauren was happy to return to make sure our pup was cared for! So thankful for Lauren and feel so reassured leaving our dog in her care in the future.

About: Hello fellow animal lover! I have lived with, trained, and loved animals since I was a child. I have grown up with multiple dogs, cats, chickens, fish, hamsters, etc… and I would absolutely love to take care of yours! I am a warm, detail oriented, dedicated, and responsible problem solver. I’m also big on communication, updates, and taking pictures of your furry loved one. I take pride in making sure every animal has what they need (and plenty of pets)! Special needs and requests for care are always welcome. I have a lot of experience as many friends, family members, and coworkers have hired me to take care of their beloved pets. All animal inquiries are welcome :) I am currently working full time, with Mondays and Tuesdays off every week. Though my hours are very flexible and I am able to take breaks during the day to check in on your pet! I am happy to stay overnight with a pet, though I am also able to in multiple times a day if preferred. When taking care of a pet, my own or someone else's, they are one of my top priorities! I want to make sure they are the happiest and healthiest they can be, so I tend to go above and beyond when it comes to care. I try to pick the best food possible, make sure they are hydrated, get plenty of fresh air, play, and a few extra toys or outfits are always welcome! I am the oldest of 7 and have a multitude of animal experience under my belt, so I do not get grossed out easily! If there is a mess, I will clean it up with precision and care.

About: I’ve worked on farms and worked with multiple animal types from dogs to goats. I’m accustomed to schedule planning and checking everything off each day and night. I am open in the afternoons and I work in the early mornings. I am quite flexible as long as I have prior notice. My husband does come along with me to meet and greets and appointments when he is off work. I do work a full time job aswell. I have a very relaxed home as I have my own puppy and she has full ranged of the entire apartment. She is fixed and potty trained.

Kate was absolutely amazing! We were so worried about our special needs cat while we were out of town but both of our cats and dog loved her!! She was able to get out very shy cat to eat his medicine and play with her in such a short amount of time. We will definitely be using Kate in the future when we’re out of town!

Our pets and home were well taken care of with Shannon! In the past we had difficulty finding someone who actually offers house sitting, and we felt so much more comfortable on this trip knowing our pets were in good hands and never alone for too long. Her updates gave us peace of mind while we were out of the country. We came home to a tidy house and happy pets. 🐾

About: To be honest, when I was a child I had a deadly fear of dogs. That was until my mother forced me to go to exposure therapy (yes she made me go to a club where they sat you with over ten dogs. Here, I fostered a love for them, and learned a lot about them. They need activity and they also need rest. They need a lot of attention but they reciprocate with fierce loyalty and unwavering love. I would love to help a family continue to give their dog the attention it deserves so they can also live their lives! I am a new college graduate looking for a full time remote position. The job market is competitive and I expect to be unemployed for at least a couple months. I have full time availability and will always have weekends. Let me help full time workers right now while I am figuring out life! My anxious dog requires a lot of attention and ensuring comfort. He gets lots of outdoor time and plenty of exercise in the morning, lunch, and night. He is fed twice a day with a mix of dry and wet food. I work on his tricks with him at least once a day! I also have cared for cats throughout my whole life. Fostering kittens, feeding them, cutting and administering pills for my disordered baby! Additionally brushing my animals, playing with them, and knowing when to give them space. I love my animals and have spent my life ensuring their care!!

We were in a bind with a last minute cancellation and Becky was able to accommodate our request. She is quick to respond and is very attentive. She was patient with my pups as they warmed up to her and I'm pretty sure they have a new best friend. I highly recommend.

I would highly recommend Kim to care for your pet. We recently left our precious pooch for 2 weeks under Kim’s care. Kim stayed in our home and lovingly cared for our dog. Kim works remotely and was home with her which was important to us. She communicated daily and sent amazing pics which we loved. Our dog was relaxed and playful when we arrived home indicating the loving care she received. Our dog has frequently gone to the guest bedroom looking for Kim! Her care was above and beyond. It is such a good feeling to be able to travel and know your pet is in good hands.

Cayton did a wonderful job house sitting for us for a long weekend recently. She took exceptional care of our 10 month old, energetic yellow lab. She texted pics and updates throughout the day and she kept to our schedule. Our pup was happy and smiling, playful and having a great time with her fairy godmother! Cayton picked up our mail and newspapers and the house was just as we left it upon our return. We enthusiastically recommend her and look forward to hiring her again!

About: Freelance writer with aspirations to raise & train dogs as well as break into a career working with animals in hollywood. I'm flexible, approach life with love and a judgement free attitude, & always seek to expand my perspectives and knowledge of critters and the world. I'm a traveler born & raised in the eastern panhandle of WV & have experience tending to dogs, cats, horses, & various avians, & minor experiences with reptiles. I push myself constantly to engage in a positive work ethic, despite challenges. I'm always friendly & very easy to talk to. I know this positive outlook & experience translates well to any animal companion I tend to work with. Currently a full time grave digger out in Virginia. I'm slowly attempting to get back into receiving my dog training certification. I do have 2 years of consistent dog sitting and training under my belt and various years of experience growing up in this area and horse and house sitting for other local farms. Cycling dogs every few hours. If not outside for potty breaks giving indivual attention. Typically I stay in the home, though with my own animal I prefer the flexibility to come and go.

Delaney went above and beyond for our dog during our weekend away. She provided updates, asked questions, and called with concerns, which allowed us to trust that everything was well underway and cared for in our absence. She left the house very clean.

FAQs for House Sitting - Hadlyme

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Hadlyme on Rover is $122.1 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,394 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hadlyme. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hadlyme walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hadlyme maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hadlyme choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hadlyme. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
