“Margaret is the best the sitter I've come across on this app. So attentive and keeps me updated. Such a peace of mind to have someone like her watching my babies. 100% recommend.”

“Peggy was amazing, she was very understanding on how we want the two boys to be walked the commands they must listen to. They both accepted her and the bigger guy does amazing with her on walks, better than me. She always follows up post walk and how they did. She is very kind enough to clean up after the little guy pees cuz he gets so happy to see her:)”

About: I am a kennel technician at my local shelter and a current animal science student at the University of Illinois. I love all dogs and cats, especially those who need a little extra help! I’ve had great pet sitters for my past dog and would love to pass that on. I work part-time at the shelter currently. This is like my other part-time job. I am very flexible in my schedule and can most likely work around your schedule. I have two brothers in my home that also love animals. My dog also loves to have company. I do not have a fence, but I do have a large field and long tie-outs that I supervise the dogs on.
“While this first time we used Patrick for care our our sweet Pittie Chester was brief, Patrick was great! Our meet and great was simple and Chester was comfortable with Patrick from the start. Patrick was great at communicating with me, he made sure Chester was as comfortable as possible with all the 4th of July noise and offered to pick up outside after him. I really appreciated how easy the entire process was even when I had to change plans last minute with him! It is obvious Patrick is great with animals and I will definitely be using him again for care for my very particular fur baby!”

“Shelby is so good with our Tug who is a sweet but anxious dog. Shelby stayed with Tug a few weeks ago for a week and he has become fond of her. Today he remembered her and welcomed her back. He jumped right into her lap!! We are so pleased with the way Shelby takes care of Tug and our house. Thank you Shelby!!”

About: I’ve always had pets growing up and when I got older I was able to help care for them. I have also pet sat for family when they needed it. I’ve also helped friends pet sit before. I adore animals and would love to help out. I can also take care of senior pets due to having some myself and giving them medication or the care they need. I’m currently home from college and I have a bunch of free time on my hands. So I’m available pretty often and I take care of my own pets at home when everyone else is at work. I currently have a one dog and a bunch of cats but the cats can be a bit standoffish to others. I can always keep them separate as well. Can always go on walks and there’s a fenced in yard to let the dogs play in.
“Katie watched our 7 month old Rottie and was super sweet and patient with him. Puppies are crazy and our Rottweiler pup is big and is still learning to walk appropriately with us. I absolutely recommend Katie to other pup parents!”

“I was a bit nervous leaving my cat with someone I hadn’t met before, but I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Robin was incredibly professional from the start—communicative, punctual, and clearly experienced with pets. While I was away, Robin sent regular updates with pictures and videos, which gave me so much peace of mind. She kept the litter box clean, followed all instructions, and most importantly, took wonderful care of my cat. I came home to a well cared for kitty and a tidy space. I highly recommend Robin to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!”

“Kathy provided excellent service for my kitty while I was out of town. She was very attentive to detail, and she gave me a complete sense of relief that we had this covered the next time I had to leave town. Will be using her again in the future. Thank you !!”

“Anna has been amazing to coordinate with and scheduling drop in visits on our 4 month old puppy during our long work days. She is excellent with communicating with us and has made us feel completely safe with entrusting the care of our puppy to her. We will continue to use Anna for our future pet care needs.”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
