“This was our second time leaving our dog Nero with Chad and his wife. Normally he is super anxious about being left behind but was perfectly happy to hop right into their arms at drop off. Received photos/video even though it was a quick 2-nt stay. We know he had fun and was well loved and taken care of.”

“We are so glad Mocha stayed at Keith’s house over the holidays because he was treated like “family”! Keith took the time to get to know Mocha’s needs and took excellent care of him. As Mocha gets older, we worry more about leaving him, so seeing pictures of him curled up on a lap let us know that he felt happy and safe! Keith was flexible and easy to communicate with. We hope Mocha will get the chance to stay with him again!”

“Another great stay! Our greyhound Happy had a bandage and some medication during this stay. Beatrice took exceptional care of her! Happy got excited on our way to drop her off at Beatrice's, because she loves visiting! Happy is showered with love and affection while with Beatrice, and is very well cared-for. I can confidently recommend!”

“Leslie did a great job with my Marley. Marley is a very anxious dog and he had a blast with Leslie. I will leave for my work trip in a couple weeks knowing that he is in good hands and being well cared for! 🤍”

“They loved on my dogs. I have one very active dog that was able to play with their dog Winnie a lot and I have one that is more chill and she just laid around and got spoiled. Already have another sleepover scheduled.”

“We are so happy with the care and attention that Valerie provided. We received regular updates and videos, and I could tell from her pictures that our dog was at ease and well cared for. Our dog is fifteen so we always worry about leaving her with a kennel where she will be crated most of the day. With Valerie, she was free to roam, got plenty of outside breaks, and got all the good food she was used to. Thank you for taking care of our girl!”
“Trish was terrific. She really embraced Charlie as part of the family and made allowances for his age. I really enjoyed and appreciated the daily reports and pictures that she sent.”
“Thank you, Jessica and Christian. for your wonderful and loving care for our dogs. We felt comfortable leaving them with you, and confident you would be a good fit for them. We can tell that you really love what you do. Tip coming later in 2 weeks, too poor now.”

“Kimberly went above and beyond our expectations as she took care of Olive as her own. We trusted her when she had to take Olive to the vet and was diligent about medications and also informing us of all updates. Olive has been sleeping all day since she got home and I know she had an amazing time! Would definitely recommend and will be back when/if we need a sitter again!”

About: Hi! We’re a couple who genuinely love dogs. We’ve also spent plenty of time looking after our family members’ pets, so we know how much they become part of the family. We both work in healthcare, so we’re used to being patient, responsible, and paying attention to the little things. We know every dog has their own personality and routine, and we’ll do our best to keep them comfortable and happy while you’re away. We’re excited to meet some new furry friends, whether that means going for walks, playing, giving lots of belly rubs, or just keeping them company. 🐶❤️ We both work full-time in a hospital, so our schedules vary, but we’re upfront about our availability and only accept bookings we can commit to. We’ll follow your pet’s routine, give them plenty of love and attention, and keep you updated with photos while you’re away. 🐾❤️ Your pet’s safety and comfort come first! We live in a clean, cozy first-floor apartment with a safe and welcoming environment for pets. We’ll keep a close eye on your fur baby, follow their routine, and give them plenty of love, cuddles, and playtime. ❤️
About: I've had dogs since I was 6 — growing up with a Doberman, a boxer, then Labs. My last lab, Niner, was a rescue we brought home at 4 and cared for until he was 11. He had neurological issues, and I even made him custom shoes to help him walk. That kind of hands-on, patient care is second nature to me. Now I have Leo and Loki, my two 5-year-old dogs, and I understand the specific needs of large breeds — energy, exercise, and attention to health. That said, big or small, every dog gets the same level of care and attention. Your dog won't just be watched, they'll be truly cared for, the way I've cared for my own for over 30 years. I work from home in a computer-based 8-to-5 job, so I'm around all day — which means your dog isn't just squeezed into a quick before-and-after-work window, but gets company and check-ins throughout the day too. I walk my own two dogs twice daily, morning and evening, so pet care is already part of my daily rhythm. Weekdays offer steady, built-in availability, and weekends open up even more for longer walks and playtime. Your dog will have a large fenced yard to romp around in, plus my two friendly, well-socialized dogs, Leo and Loki, to keep them company. For rainy/snow days I have a large empty basement to play in and run around in. Since I work from home, I'm around throughout the day for playtime, cuddles, and check-ins — not just a quick visit in and out. My dogs are 5 years old and easygoing with other dogs, so your fur baby will feel right at home in a safe, social environment.
“Pat did her usual fantastic job sitting our two dogs during our 10-day vacation. Our boys are very different - one young and boisterous, the other senior and laid back - and Pat gives each one of them the care and attention they need. Pat also does such a great job keeping us updated with pictures and comments throughout the booking. It’s so reassuring to know that they’re in such good hands!”

About: What sets me apart is the genuine care and attention I give to every pet. I understand that every dog has a different personality, routine, and set of needs, and I take the time to get to know them and make them feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you’re away. There is a stay at home parent who can provide daily care for your pet. And a family who will be there to provide plenty of attention and love. We have a large yard with plenty of trees and a spacious home for your pet to explore. Your preference of crate or bed or couch is ok with us.
“Melvin enjoyed his time with Marisol. She kept me up to date with texts and photos. She also purchased optional food when Melvin wasn’t eating his regular food which had never happened before. I’ll use her services again in the future.”

“Our experience leaving our dog Marshmallow with Adam was absolutely amazing! He was really responsive and easy to talk to and was even flexible when we had to change our plans. He took really amazing care of Marshmallow, provided great photos + updates, and it sounds like she had a great time while staying with Adam. Will definitely be asking Adam to watch Marshmallow again in the future and would recommend him to anyone looking for a loving, caring place to leave their pets while they're away. Thanks Adam!”

“Absolutely wonderful. I honestly cannot say enough nice things about Peg. Our dog, who will not eat if she’s nervous or upset, ate just fine with Peg. Her dog Mila is chill and adapts well to a dog guest. She sent us texts and photos to update us. She’s a lovely person who is also great with dogs. You can’t ask for more in a dog sitter.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Fox Valley
This was our first time boarding our fur baby for longer than just a weekend trip. Pallvi and her family took excellent care of Bodhi, sending pictures and videos often! We were definitely nervous at first but she put as at ease quickly, and we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that he was comfortable and happy. Will definitely rebook with Pallvi next time we go out of town.

Milou had an amazing time with Mike and Mary. They sent plenty of pictures, took her on her long walks, and stayed in communication the whole time. I had a wonky pick-up and drop-off schedule to which they were very accommodating so that was very much appreciated and helped simplify final trip details.

Giedre was wonderful with Marlowe! She kept me updated throughout the stay with photos and messages, and Marlowe was clearly happy, comfortable, and well cared for. She loved playing with Giedre’s Goldendoodles and came home tired and content. I would absolutely book with her again.

This is our fur babies second time staying with Trish. She is absolutely amazing with them. She stays connected with us each day with picture updates. They seem to love her and her two dogs. They were very excited to see her. Nice to know someone actually pays attention to your pups and not just sit them lol. Thanks Trish! And thank you for the brushing ☺️

I am very happy with my dog Benny's stay with Lizzie! She took wonderful care of my dog for several hours, and when I picked him up, he was happy and relaxed. It was clear that he had a great time and was well cared for. I would definitely rebook with Lizzie again when needed as well as recommend her. Thank you, Lizzie!

Valentina is great and she took very good care of Leo when I left him for a night. She updated regularly with his pics and I felt great. Her and family definitely are great and olive is cute too and I am sure Leo had fun staying at their place .I highly recommend for anyone looking for great care.

Fredy did such an amazing job taking care of our Remy this week! He was very communicative throughout the week giving us updates and pictures every day. Him & his whole family were so kind & caring to our puppy! We are so happy Remy got to be taken cared of by him & his family! Thank you so much!

Glen was awesome in caring for our 14 yr old lab. Our pup is sensitive and doesn’t easily adjust to new routines or new people. Glen stayed overnight, made sure his routine was kept and when our pup had an accident he even cleaned it up neatly. Would definitely continue with him.

Rebecca (Zhiyang) took amazing care of Lily while we were away. From the moment we met her, we felt completely comfortable leaving Lily in her care. She kept us updated with messages, photos, and videos, and it was clear that Lily was happy, relaxed, and well loved. Rebecca is kind, responsible, and truly understands dogs, especially senior dogs. Lily came home happy and comfortable, and we could tell she had a wonderful time. We are incredibly grateful for the love and attention she gave Lily. I highly recommend Rebecca to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. We would be thrilled to have her watch Lily again in the future!

Colleen took great care of my dog, Truffle, over the weekend and I had a wonderful experience. She was excellent with communication, very responsive, and kept me updated with regular pictures, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while I was away. It was clear that Truffle was happy and well cared for. I was very happy with her service and would absolutely love to use her again in the future!

Rick and his family took amazing care of my German Shepherd, Arlo, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They were attentive, reliable, and clearly love what they do. I especially appreciated the regular updates and photos, they gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Arlo was happy, well cared for, and comfortable the entire time, which says everything. It’s not easy trusting someone with your dog, but Rick made it feel effortless. I will definitely be using them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy and caring dog sitters.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Fox Valley home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Fox Valley.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Fox Valley sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
