“Sandra took great care of our dog and even scheduled a play date with his girlfriend! She wa Avery helpful in the house too during her stay and helped cleaned up and left the place very clean.”

About: I've been a pet owner (dogs and cats) for more than 20 years. My current dogs are both rescues and each comes with their own unique personality, so I'm open to the quirks of lots of different pets. When I'm caring for your pet, they will be my only focus, and I can help with medications and whatever training you're working on with your pet family members! I'm newly retired, so I have time and flexibility to care for your pets! Just let me know what you are looking for and we'll make it work! I can walk dogs during the day or evening, and overnight house sitting with pets is right up my alley. I'll be happy to treat your pets like family. I am glad to maintain whatever routines your pet is used to, and while I'm staying at your home, I will be happy to maintain their walks, meals, snacks, medications, games, etc. I know how important trust is when inviting somebody into your home, so please feel free to share any questions you have with me.
“I had a great experience with Glen as my dog sitter. He was extremely reliable and attentive, especially when it came to administering medication, including eye drops, to my dogs. Not only did he take great care of my dogs, but he also kept the house tidy. I really appreciated how he sent frequent updates and pictures of my dogs, which put my mind at ease while I was away. I would highly recommend Glen to anyone in need of a trustworthy and caring dog sitter.”

“Nancy was wonderful. She filled in at the last minute because I had a cancellation, and her up-beat spirit helped me know she's perfect for Sadie. I really liked her. She and Sadie got along real well, and I will request her again when the opportunity presents itself. My home was perfect when we got back. Thank you for being you Nancy.”

“Amanda is amazing! She keeps me updated with notes and pictures morning and night. Being away from home I really appreciate that. She’s very responsive as well. Highly recommend her staying with your pup.”

About: My parents have a farm with three big dogs and many small ones, I’ve taken care of them many times over the years. I have neighbors and friends reaching out to care for their furry friends while they are out of town. I promise to give your loved furry one the love they would expect on a day to day basis I work from home so if I need to spend the day with your pet I can be there for them as I work! Outside of work hours I can give long walks and tons of play time. If you pet needs extra attention I can provide lots of head pets or give them space if they like to spend their time alone.
“Such a kind and thoughtful sitter! He is very communicative and sent adorable photos. Very respectful of our home and followed all instructions flawlessly. And most importantly, our babies ABSOLUTELY loved him!”

About: Hello, my name is Angel and I’m excited to care for your cats and dogs! I have about 6 years of experience with cats, thanks to raising and caring for my own kitty, and 2 years of experience with dogs. While cats are my specialty, I’m also eager to continue building my dog care skills and I love spending time with pups of all ages, including puppies. My goal is always to make your pets feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I’m reliable with feeding, cleaning up after them, playing, and following any specific instructions you provide. If you book dog walking, I can take your pup on walks or even light jogs for exercise. I don’t currently drive, so I may use public transit or rideshare; this means arrival times can vary slightly. Meet and greets are required so your pet and I can get comfortable first! I am currently enrolled in hybrid and online college classes, which means I have almost full availability for bookings. My schedule is flexible unless otherwise stated in advance. I care for my own kitty with lots of love and attention, and I would do the same for your lovable fur baby. Safety, trust, and a nurturing environment are always my top priorities when pet sitting.😊🤗
About: I’ve handled pets of my own and have provided at home care for friends or family members my whole life. When needed I’ve boarded animals at my own home for friends or family. There’s nothing like a good break with furry friends that helps the day go by. Currently I have a flexible scheduled and enjoy the opportunity. I always make sure that animals are given loving attention. It’s important that they are provided with the bathroom, sleeping and toy accommodations they deserve and the exercise they need. I understand the need for routine.
“Allie was great!!. She communicated well and sent updates. My flight was delayed and she waa willing to go back to let my dogs out again since i was late getting home.I will definitely be using Allie again.”
“Great sitter. On time, great communication. Kimberly stayed with our boy Buddy overnight. Buddy has separation anxiety and is very spoiled. He just needs company. Kimberly took great care of him. We'll definitely book her again in the future”

About: I have had pets ever since I was less than 1, and have owned two dogs in my lifetime. I grew up with a Shetland Sheepdog named Luna, and when she passed I’ve raised a mix named Ponyo ever since. My favorite thing I taught was teaching Ponyo to reply to my whistle command. I’m free all days, any time, except for late Mondays due to my choir activities. I attend school in Peoria during the fall (late August). I have a dog at my home who is friendly but has a scary bark. If needed I could separate my dog from your pet’s room. Under my supervision I will make sure that your pet is always within my sight at all times, and I’ll play and keep them entertained as much as I can.
“Micaela did a wonderful job caring for our pets and home. She is considerate and capable. We would highly recommend her services and hope to book her again in the future. Thank you so much, Micaela”

Michelle was absolutely wonderful with Lily! She stayed overnight, took excellent care of her, and gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. She made sure Lily got plenty of walks, sent lots of adorable pictures, and kept me updated throughout her stay just as I had requested. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Michelle again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter!

Alex was very loved at our house with 3 cats. He was on time & very responsive. We got photo updates everyday. He left my house clean and washed the pet bowls so they were ready to use the night we got back. Very thankful for Alex. We will absolutely use him for our future trips!

Cassidy was quick to respond upon my inquiry for dog sitting and did a great job with my two pups while we were gone for the day! She sent a summary of how it went along with cute pictures of my pups looking extremely content! She is kind, very responsive and followed all of the instructions I left as both my dogs have specific routines and medications they are on. We will definitely be using her for future dog sitting!

Jing is an excellent house sitter. She watched my two dogs while I was overseas for the Holiday break. She provided multiple photos throughout each day and even cleared snow on the back deck and steps so my senior dog could make it back easier to the door. She was very attentive to their needs and compassionate. I would definitely recommend Jing!! Thank you Jing 🤙

The GOAT of pet sitters! Valarie has been doing drop in visits on our dogs and cats for a few years and has always been so great. This time she stayed at our home while we traveled and it was the first time in years I didn’t have a worry about my home and fur babies. She’s a good communicator with daily pictures and always responsive. Trust and reliability is hard to find and I’ve found it consistently with Valarie.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fox Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fox Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fox Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
