I'm truly thankful to have met and hired Yushonda. I have watched over 100 dogs, and I mean it when I say she is a step above everyone else. Mara is dog aggressive and dismissive of people and very slow to build trust. Yushonda would not settle for good enough or merely being present in the house. She strived and worked hard to build that trust, working with Mara, making her presence known, and building trust at Mara's pace. I was shocked to hear Mara got comfortable enough to jump right in bed on the first night. I had expected at the end of the stay for our dog to maybe allow pets, instead she made a great new friend by the first day and asked for belly rubs, something she only does for 3 people. Yushonda instilled trust not only in Mara but also us. Without her, we would have not been able to have gone on our trip and been able to see family, relax, and be at ease. Send Yushonda a message, you and your fur baby will not regret it or think about hiring someone else. I am so happy to know we have someone that will care about our baby as much as we do. I'm so thankful to finally have someone I can whole heartedly recommend, with full confidence, to watch my client's pets and know she will live up to that recommendation and always go above and beyond.

About: Hi! 🤗 thanks for checking me out! I have a ton of experience with animals! I have experience in animal hospitals and doggy daycares alike 😃 Taking care of animals is where my heart is. I’ve always had multiple animals at a time. CPR and trauma experienced. I’m available all the time currently! Which means longer walks, play in the yard, or cuddles! I walk dogs full time so don’t be shy! I can’t watch anyone in my apartment, but I can come to your home or take them out and about! My attitude changes with each animal as I learn them. Most dogs I’m pretty playful with and have a lot of high energy play, some like to just sit next to a warm body on the couch and I can do that too.

About: I have been trusted with pet care for friends and family many times over the last few years which have included daily walks, regular feeding, potty breaks, play time, and company! While I'm new to professional pet care, I am familiar with providing reliable care to furry friends. I am currently a full-time student taking online classes this summer, meaning I have plenty of time to hang out with pets! When in-person classes start again in the fall, I am local, so pet care still will not be a problem. I've cared for dogs for family and friends over the years and understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. My experience includes feeding, providing fresh water, letting dogs outside for potty breaks, spending quality time with them, and making sure they get plenty of attention and companionship. I've helped care for my grandpa's two dogs, regularly looked after my boyfriend's family dog, and cared for my aunt and uncle's dog while they traveled by handling the daily routine before and after work. I know every pet has a unique personality and routine, and I'm happy to follow your instructions to help keep them happy and comfortable. I'll treat your pet with the same care and attention I'd give my own.

5 Stars – Hands down the BEST dog sitter we've ever had! Carissa is an absolute gem! From our very first meet-and-greet, she was incredibly thorough—asking every important question and answering all of ours with patience and clarity. We instantly felt at ease leaving our 9-year-old Apollo in her care. She was always extremely responsive, easy to reach, and wonderfully accommodating to both Apollo's needs and ours (including bringing in mail and packages). Our home was left spotless and tidy. The daily updates were a highlight—multiple photos and messages each day showing Apollo happily running in the yard, playing indoors, getting tons of cuddles, and smiling with his chompers lol. Seeing how content and loved he was allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our family vacation without a single worry! When our flight was unexpectedly canceled and rescheduled (leaving us stuck in airports for an extra 30 hours), Carissa immediately and graciously agreed to stay an additional night. Knowing Apollo was in such capable, caring hands made a stressful travel day, much easier. Carissa's professionalism, genuine love for dogs, and thoughtful attention to detail made our trip better than we could have hoped. We've never felt more comfortable or at peace leaving our senior pup with anyone else. She is now our first and only choice for future sittings! Thank you, Carissa—you're phenomenal! ♥️

We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing our dogs were in good hands with Kaitlin. I highly recommend Kaitlin for dog sitting and we will definitely be hiring her for future vacations.

She sent me pictures daily, which I really appreciated. She also left the house in perfect order. I will definitely hire her again. I highly recommend Lily!

About: I’ve had dogs in my life for as long as I can remember and have experience with breeds ranging from Yorkies and Frenchies to Border Collies and German Shepherds. Caring for my own German Shepherd service dog taught me the importance of patience, consistency, attentiveness, and building trust with every dog individually. I understand that every dog has their own personality, comfort level, and routine, and I treat every pet like family while they’re in my care. My schedule is flexible, and I prefer a routine that naturally includes animals rather than working around them. I’m usually available throughout the day for morning, afternoon, and evening care, and I’m comfortable adjusting my plans to make sure pets get consistent attention, walks, feeding, and companionship. I have a fenced in yard with 3 dogs. Scarlett; a 7 year old German Shepherd, Oakley; 2 year old GSD mix, and Justin; a 4 year old Frenchie.

About: Not only did I grow up with dogs, I have worked as a certified dog trainer at Petco for over a year. I am a trustworthy resource for your dog. I’m currently working part time and have a strict schedule of availability on Monday- Thursday every week. Just beep me if you wanna reach me! I will be mindful of your dogs boundaries, I don’t pet dogs that don’t like to be pet. I will provide your dog with water and food as needed. When a dog shows signs they have to go potty I will let them outside or take them on a walk and clean after them. When dogs get bored I will play with them and keep them entertained with their toys and treats. I practice training tricks to keep their brains happy and stimulated!

FAQs for House Sitting - Flint

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Flint on Rover is $64.2 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 516 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Flint. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Flint walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Flint maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Flint choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Flint. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
