Kathy is simply the best!!! I can tell from the photos she sent during our trip that our Critters absolutely adored her based on the smiles on their sweet faces and we agree that she is a rare gem! Not only did she take pawfect care of our Pack, our Nest was nicely cared for as well!! I especially appreciate that she is able to spend so much time with the Critters as Critter Sitting is her main gig! Highly recommend! We’ve already booked future dates and are all looking forward to seeing Kathy again! 🐾🐾💚

About: Hi! 🤗 thanks for checking me out! I have a ton of experience with animals! I have experience in animal hospitals and doggy daycares alike 😃 Taking care of animals is where my heart is. I’ve always had multiple animals at a time. CPR and trauma experienced. I’m available all the time currently! Which means longer walks, play in the yard, or cuddles! I walk dogs full time so don’t be shy! I can’t watch anyone in my apartment, but I can come to your home or take them out and about! My attitude changes with each animal as I learn them. Most dogs I’m pretty playful with and have a lot of high energy play, some like to just sit next to a warm body on the couch and I can do that too.

Jess was amazing! We have a rabbit, tortoise and a puppy and she took such great care of them all while we were gone for the week. Our house was the same as we left it and she even saved my puppies teeth that she lost 🩷. 10 out of 10 would recommend! We already have her booked for quite a few more stays.

She was extremely friendly and eager to bond with my cats to make them as comfortable as possible while we were gone. She was very communicative and sent lots of pictures and updates, which I really enjoyed. She also left the house spotless. Thanks again McKenzie, I’m sure we will be contacting you again!

I'm truly thankful to have met and hired Yushonda. I have watched over 100 dogs, and I mean it when I say she is a step above everyone else. Mara is dog aggressive and dismissive of people and very slow to build trust. Yushonda would not settle for good enough or merely being present in the house. She strived and worked hard to build that trust, working with Mara, making her presence known, and building trust at Mara's pace. I was shocked to hear Mara got comfortable enough to jump right in bed on the first night. I had expected at the end of the stay for our dog to maybe allow pets, instead she made a great new friend by the first day and asked for belly rubs, something she only does for 3 people. Yushonda instilled trust not only in Mara but also us. Without her, we would have not been able to have gone on our trip and been able to see family, relax, and be at ease. Send Yushonda a message, you and your fur baby will not regret it or think about hiring someone else. I am so happy to know we have someone that will care about our baby as much as we do. I'm so thankful to finally have someone I can whole heartedly recommend, with full confidence, to watch my client's pets and know she will live up to that recommendation and always go above and beyond.

I would recommend her to anyone. One of my dogs doesn’t not warm up to strangers very easily. She tried her best to make him comfortable around her. She took time out of her own life to meet up with us twice to try and accommodate my stress-filled dog. I’m sure caring for him was just as stressful but I’m so thankful for her efforts.

About: I have worked with many different dogs including dogs who require medication, dogs with anxiety, dogs who are slow to warm up to people and dogs with energetic personalities. I also work very well with cats and have a lot of experience caring for both indoor and outdoor cats. My family has owned pets ever since I was a kid so I have grown up with animals and am very comfortable around them. As an entrepreneur I have a very open schedule. I am available all times of day on weekdays and frequently have availability for weekends. I have some availability for Holliday’s. I closely follow the owners instructions for how they want their house and pets treated while I’m there. If you do not have a yard to let your pets roam free in I am able to take them on walks as often as needed. I follow feeding instructions and I am extra careful to make sure that dogs with special diets get what is needed and don’t receive what they can’t have.

About: Hi, I’m Katie 👋🏻 Caring for pets isn’t just something I love; it’s what I do every single day! I currently work as a Supervisor at a high-end dog boarding/daycare resort, and previously as a Shift Leader for 2 years at another boarding/daycare kennel for dogs AND cats. I’ve had the privilege of working with pets of all ages, breeds, sizes, temperaments, and personalities. I’m also experienced with medication administration of all kinds and following detailed care routines, so you can feel confident your pet’s needs will be taken seriously while you’re away. You can expect plenty of updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your furry friend is safe, happy, and being well cared for. Have questions or a specific need for your pet? Feel free to send me a message! I’d love to learn more about your companion and see how I can help. Whenever I’m not at work, I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and other pet care needs. On my days off, I have extra flexibility and can spend more one-on-one time with your companion, whether that means longer walks, extra playtime, or simply giving them ALL of the attention and companionship they deserve. Overnight stays are accepted on a case by case basis depending on my work schedule and the location of your home. During walks and drop-in visits, my focus is on safety, enrichment, quality of care, and making sure your pet gets the attention they need. Before each booking, I’ll get to know their schedule, feeding routine, exercise needs, medications (if applicable), and any behavioral quirks or preferences.

About: I am 25 years old. I have been cat and dog sitting since I was in middle school. Alongside that I have worked at a dog kennel for 2 1/2 years. And I am currently in school to become a vet tech. I have experience with dogs of all ages and size. I have experience with administering medications such as pills, ear medication, oral medication, eye medication, insulin, etc. I also have experience with small paralyzed dogs and know how to express bladders in smaller dogs/cats. I am currently in school Monday - Thursday but my schedule is quite flexible and on those days I will only be at campus for a couple/few hours. So I will still be able to provide the utmost care for your babies and give them all the attention they need! Animals are my passion and I love spending time with them. I would make sure to curate the time I spend with your fur babies based on their age and temperament. Whether that’s taking a high energy pup on walks or playing outside with them. Or extra snuggle time for the more elderly or chill babies. I also will make sure your baby has plenty of bathroom breaks throughout the day and I also love to send photo and text updates!

Felix is an oustanding dog sitter. He came for a meet and greet, and gave our pups first class treatment just like a member of our family. The dogs were so happy and exhausted when we got home, so I know they got great exercise and care. My Bina was so afraid of the fireworks that she hid in the shower. But Felix gave her treats and sat and cuddled with her to make her feel safe again. I would highly recommend him to everyone, and he's especially good with big dogs! Followed all the instructions and sent lots of photos. Thank you so much - you are our go to dog sitter from now on!

I booked Kyla for house sitting my dog during her post-op recovery period from knee surgery. Kyla was great with Lucy, was caring, calm, affectionate, and Lucy definitely grew fond of her. She also followed all the care instructions i gave her, feeding her, giving her meds when needed, taking her on walks, and potty breaks whenever lucy needed even more often than her usual routine that i gave her. Kyla was also accommodating to changes in schedule when needed, would definitely book her again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Atlas

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 849 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Atlas. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Atlas walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Atlas maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Atlas choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Atlas. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 99% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
