“Kathy is simply the best!!! I can tell from the photos she sent during our trip that our Critters absolutely adored her based on the smiles on their sweet faces and we agree that she is a rare gem! Not only did she take pawfect care of our Pack, our Nest was nicely cared for as well!! I especially appreciate that she is able to spend so much time with the Critters as Critter Sitting is her main gig! Highly recommend! We’ve already booked future dates and are all looking forward to seeing Kathy again! 🐾🐾💚”

“Kyla was amazing. she took very good care of my dog while I was away. she always updated me with photos daily and is very sweet and kind. Definitely will always use her to house sit when im gone. she is the best! my pup was well taken care of and I could tell he enjoyed her too!”

“Erin has been amazing! She is timely, thorough and easy-going. She has provided exceptional care for my anxiety ridden pup that can’t stay home alone. I would HIGHLY recommend Erin.”

“First time using a pet sitter and I could not be happier. Victoria is absolutely lovely. She answered any/all questions and also went above & beyond (in my opinion) asking to meet Georgia briefly before her scheduled time. Georgia equally loved her and was immediately comfortable, which put me at ease. Victoria is very communicative and reassuring, she provided photo(s) and updates for me as well. I can see why Victoria has repeat customers (both human & fur-like). I know I'll have Victoria as my go-to when I need someone.”

About: With 14 animals of my own and over 5 years of pet sitting experience, I truly understand every pet’s unique needs. I’m patient, dependable, and treat every animal like family. Whether it’s cuddles, playtime, or specialized care, your pet will feel right at home with me. What sets me apart is my deep, hands-on knowledge of animal behavior and genuine passion for giving pets the love and attention they deserve. I currently don’t work anywhere else which gives me plenty of time in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends to focus on pet care. Since animals are a huge part of my life already, caring for pets naturally fits into my daily routine. Whether it’s evening walks, weekend stays, or afternoon check-ins, I’m flexible and committed to making sure your pet feels loved and well-cared for. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always respect their space and routines. I make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I follow all instructions carefully—whether it’s feeding, walks, medications, or playtime—and keep things clean and calm. My goal is to make your pet feel like you’re still there, providing peace of mind for both of you.
“Kristy took great care of Lucy, she sent pictures and kept me updated on how she was doing. It was nice not to worry and be able to enjoy my time away. She respected all my rules and took really good care of my home.”

“Carissa was amazing. We are so grateful to have found someone so caring, who treats our dog as her own. Our dog felt comfortable immediately and fell in love with her. She makes us feel so relaxed, comfortable, and at ease when he is in her care. She is our go to girl! I would highly recommend her for your pet sitting needs!”

About: I have worked with many different dogs including dogs who require medication, dogs with anxiety, dogs who are slow to warm up to people and dogs with energetic personalities. I also work very well with cats and have a lot of experience caring for both indoor and outdoor cats. My family has owned pets ever since I was a kid so I have grown up with animals and am very comfortable around them. As an entrepreneur I have a very open schedule. I am available all times of day on weekdays and frequently have availability for weekends. I have some availability for Holliday’s. I closely follow the owners instructions for how they want their house and pets treated while I’m there. If you do not have a yard to let your pets roam free in I am able to take them on walks as often as needed. I follow feeding instructions and I am extra careful to make sure that dogs with special diets get what is needed and don’t receive what they can’t have.

About: I have 5 cats of my own and am very well versed in all cats quirks and personalities. I have a lot of understanding of cat behavior and have a soft spot for all kitties. Weather your cat is standoffish, a social butterfly, a scardy cat, or even a little territorial, I have it handled! I understand cats can have weird needs or care instructions and am willing to do whatever to make your kitty feel safe and cared for. In addition, I have grown up around lot of dogs and understand canine behavior. My family has had a medium size dog since I was 8 and I did most of her training from crate training to teaching her to sit. I am willing to do whatever your dog needs from walks, to playing fetch/exercising, as well as drop by visits or weekend stays. I have a normal 9-5 job Monday through Friday but am able to do weekday visits in the morning and/or evening depending on what your feline requires (weather it be visits before I go to work, after I get off, or later in the night). I will work with you to fit your pet into my schedule and make sure they receive exactly the care they need, weather that's a drop in once a day or longer visits a couple times a day. On weekends I am available around the clock for whatever your kitty may need! I am willing to clean litter boxes, change water dishes, provide feedings, clean food bowls, provide enrichment/play time, perform health monitoring, administer any medications necessary, or any other requests to keep your cats safe and well cared for! I have a background with sick animals and have previously administered daily shots or oral medications to my own pets, so I am able to provide a wide range of medical care if your cat requires such.

“Jessica was absolutely wonderful with Asher! He’s a friendly, affectionate dog, but he can be a little cautious in new situations and with new people. Jessica was patient, intuitive, and gave him the time he needed to warm up. Before long, they were enjoying playful moments together, and it was clear she understood his personality—especially letting him lead the way on their walks, which he absolutely loves. Jessica was also an excellent communicator throughout the weekend. She shared thoughtful updates and just the right number of photos, giving us peace of mind without overwhelming us. It was clear Asher was happy, relaxed, and well cared for. On top of taking such great care of Asher, she left our home spotless and tidy. We came home to a happy dog and a beautifully cared-for house. We can’t wait to have Jessica stay with Asher again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and thoughtful sitter!”

“Melissa was great! She arrives on time and provides great communication and lots of pics and videos while babysitting. She’s very friendly and I felt my puppy was in very safe hands. I will definitely her again, and I highly recommend her.”

“Kirsti was so helpful while I was out of town and willing to be flexible around uncertain schedules. She spent lots of time with my pup and even brought her a Christmas gift. I would definitely recommend her as your next pet sitter and will be contacting her again in the future when I am traveling!”

“Sasha absolutely LOVED Gianna! Gianna is obviously a dog lover, and I felt very comfortable leaving Sasha with her while I went out of town. I appreciated that she sent me a video and an update that Sasha was happy. I will absolutely call Gianna again when I go out of town!”

“This was my first time leaving my cats, and I was so relieved to find Mckenzie. So grateful to her for her awesome cat sitting! She was extremely friendly and eager to bond with my cats to make them as comfortable as possible while we were gone. She was very communicative and sent lots of pictures and updates, which I really enjoyed. She also left the house spotless. Thanks again McKenzie, I’m sure we will be contacting you again!”

“Jessica is great! She has come to do dogs walks and dog sitting. She has amazing communication, sends pictures of my pups when I’m away and has the patience and good nature to earn the trust of my very nervous dog. My dogs were in great hands while I was away. Highly recommend her and hope she’s available in the future when I have to be away from my dogs.”

“Samantha was great! I am pretty sure our dogs were sad to see us come home:-) They had trail walks, pup cups and lots of love. Samantha stayed for 3 nights and my house was kept in good order. We will definitely use Samantha again.”

About: I grew up with Labs and currently have two of my own (both 11 years old) so I’m well versed in everything from puppy energy to senior dog care. I’ve dog sat for friends and family over the years through both check-ins and overnight house sitting, so I’m comfortable adapting to different routines and personalities. I work from home full-time, so I have flexibility most days of the week including weekends. I offer drop-in check-ins, dog walking, and overnight house sitting — and since I’m home throughout the day, last-minute requests are usually manageable. Feel free to reach out and I’m happy to work around your schedule. I treat every client’s home with respect and stick to whatever routine works best for your dog. I work from home so for house sitting I’m around consistently throughout the day — your dog won’t be alone for long stretches. All walks are on leash and I pay close attention to body language and surroundings. I’m happy to follow any specific feeding schedules, medications, or routines you have in place.
“Judy provided great communication the entire trip and ensured my dog got the correct medications. She left the house clean and it gave me peace of mind knowing Judy was at home with my dog.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ortonville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ortonville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ortonville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
