“Christine was absolutely wonderful with Lilly during her 3-night stay! She was so diligent about sending regular updates and pictures, which gave me total peace of mind. She treated her as her own and Lilly looked so happy in every photo and came home calm and relaxed. Christine genuinely cares for pets, and I highly recommend her! I will definitely be a return customer.”

“Was worried since this was a first time visiting this house with Milo and Maui but they looked so comfortable! I was so happy to see my cats and Lenny was so sweet and caring. Both my cats were able to have seperate rooms which was also so great.”

“I needed a dog boarded ASAP in an urgent situation. Debi appeared available, and when I messaged her, she replied within a minute that she was! I brought my dog over a few hours later, and was greeted warmly by Debi at her beautiful home. She kept me updated multiple times a day with pictures and videos. My dog was totally at home with her family, and was so calm and content when I picked her up! I could not have been happier leaving my dog with Debi, and I will definitely be using her again! I can't recommend highly enough - it was a fantastic experience!”

“Unbelievable!!! This was the first time that we gave Zeke to another person. As soon as Zeke saw Hendra he was running to him, and when I came (hesitantly...) to pick him up, he was so calm and content, an indication that he had a great 2 days! Will know where to send next time we need a sitter, and very warmly recommend Hendra! He was extremely courteous and kind, professional and warm at the same time!”

About: I have taken care of dogs for most of my adult life. My wife and I have made a point to adopt large older dogs that tend to be stuck in the shelter system. All dogs are good and deserve to live a fun filled, happy, and loved life. I am also recently pet CPR and first aid certified by The American Red Cross. Im currently working part time three nights during the week so I have plenty of free time to take care of your pups. Having recently lost our beloved Mastiff, I've been craving some pup time. I have a fully fenced in yard and have plenty of room to crate your pups. We recently lost our dog so we are pet free. Being dog people, we welcome your dogs like they were our family.
“This was the first time I was apart from my dog for more than two days and the first day that I left the dog with a non relative. It was great to have someone as responsive and responsible as Vincent taking care of my dog. It is clear that Vincent loves dogs and does a great job taking care of them. When I picked my dog up it was clear he had a good week, was healthy, well fed and very happy.”

“Both my dogs felt at home and had a great time during their stay. Maureen took great care of them and kept up updated with lots of pictures. We are so glad we choose to board them with Maureen.”

“I couldn’t have asked for better caretakers of our pups than Shelly and Bill! Always let us know how our 2 dogs were doing and included lots of fun pictures. Our dogs had an amazing time and came home relaxed which says a ton about how comfortable they were under Shelly and Bills care. 100/10!”

“Lori was wonderful with our precious little Peanut. She cared for her like she was her own pup. She was also very communicative and super flexible and accommodating when our travel plans were diverted. Will definitely be using Lori again!”

“Jaimie was WONDERFUL!! She gave regular updates and sent amazing pictures daily of Noodle. I was able to really enjoy my vacation knowing Noodle was being so well cared for! I highly recommend!!!”

“From the moment I reached out to Lorrie I knew she loved dogs. She was quick to get back to me and accommodating. She took great care of Roxy and spoiled her by letting her sleep on her couch and bed. I also appreciated the updated texts and pictures of Roxy she sent me. Roxy can't wait to come back and stay :) So happy I tried Rover rather than boarding her.”

“Thomas was a great host for my big boy Koba! Thomas sent us updates and pictures durning his stay. We knew Koba was enjoying himself testing out the different beds, bones, toys and exploring his fenced in yard. He had a great staycation and I wouldn’t hesitate to book him Thomas again.”

“Gerry is the best. We just left our puppy with her for his first overnight stay and he was received with lots of love and attention. Would definitely recommend Gerry to others.”

About: I provide a calm, quiet, and low-stress home environment that’s great for dogs who prefer a more relaxed setting. My home is kid-free and male-free, and I only take pets I know I can give plenty of attention and care to. I like dogs more than people so they are treated like part of the family here. The doggies can relax freely around the house, get lots of outdoor time, play, walks, and snuggles. I also have experience caring for shy and nervous dogs since my own dog can be timid in new situations. I’m patient and understand that some dogs need extra time to feel comfortable and safe. Since I’m a teacher, I’m very responsible, organized, and used to keeping routines and paying attention to individual needs. I've been dog sitting for 5 years now. Reach out if you have any questions! I work full time as a teacher, so I have a very structured routine that works well for pet care. I leave around 7:10 and am home by 2:45 on most days. Over the summer I only work 4 days a week 8-12. I’m a homebody and spend most nights and weekends at home with my dog. I don’t like leaving my dog alone for more than 6–7 hours, so any dog staying with me would get plenty of attention, time outside, and companionship. Daily walks, playtime, and outdoor time are already part of my normal routine, especially since my dog loves to play catch and relax outside. I provide a calm, safe, and loving environment where dogs can feel comfortable and at home. I have a fenced-in backyard for supervised outdoor play and daily walks can also be provided. Dogs are allowed to freely relax around the house and are treated like part of the family. I also have a medium-sized crate available if needed. I do have my own dog who is 3.5 years old. He’s very laid back, enjoys naps, hanging out, and playing outside. We spend a lot of time outside playing catch and getting exercise. My home is kid-free and male-free, so it’s usually very quiet and low stress for dogs that prefer a calmer environment. I truly love animals and treat them with the same care and attention I give my own dog. I like dogs better than people so they will be treated very well.
“Harley was fantastic! She totally accommodated my 10 year old Labrador, who’s not the easiest to care for. She really loved him and did her best to make him feel at home and comfortable. She was very communicative about everything and sent lots of photos. Her house was clean and large enough for a 100lb lab. Her yard is big and fenced in. We will def be rebooking her! Thanks Leny 🫶🏼”

“Angelica is a dream host! I can't wait to book my puppy with them again as soon as possible! I got the cutest photos of all of their adventures and he came back cleaner than I sent him and tired from all the fun!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
