“Riley did AMAZING with my reactive dog!! Upon first meeting, he was a little hesitant. By the end, the two of them were BFFS! She was able to walk him alone and establish a great relationship with him! I am SO SO grateful for her!”

“Lisa is delightful and a great communicator. She is reliable and so good with my senior chihuahua mix, Mika. It is very comforting to know Lisa also has a senior chihuahua, and is very experienced with dog care. I am happy Mika seems to really enjoy her walks with Lisa and was able to get comfortable with her fast. Lisa takes her time and is in tune with Mika’s needs. I feel bad on days I have to leave Mika alone at home for so long for work, so it means the world to me that Lisa makes sure her time with Mika is quality bonding.”

“Justin is extremely reliable and did a great job of taking care of our dog, Lucy, even driving her to the park where she and I walk every day so that she would maintain her normal routine.”

About: I’m a pet parent to both dogs and cats, so I know firsthand what it means to leave your animals with someone and hope they’re truly cared for beyond just fed and checked on. I bring that same warmth and attentiveness to every sit. As a remote consultant and student, I work from wherever I am which means your pets can have company during the day if that’s what’s best for them. I’m a longtime pet owner, which means I’m dependable, communicative, and genuinely animal-centered. Your home will be respected, your animals will be loved on, and you’ll actually enjoy your time away knowing someone fun and trustworthy is holding things down. I take feeding schedules, medications, and training rules seriously — because consistency is what keeps your pets feeling safe and settled while you’re gone. The goal is that your travel is disruptive to you as little as possible, and to your pets not at all. I value clear, direct communication and will keep you updated so you’re never left wondering how things are going. I’ll bring that same straightforwardness from our first message all the way through drop-off. I’m comfortable with dogs, cats, and small animals, and I love getting to know each pet’s personality and quirks. Whether your dog needs a playmate or your cat just wants company on the couch, I’m here for it. Every sit is a little different, and I think that’s how it should be — your pet’s needs shape how I show up, not the other way around. I work remotely as a consultant and student, so my schedule shifts week to week. What stays consistent is this: feeding times, medications, and check-ins happen on schedule regardless of what else I have going on. Those are non-negotiable. For house sitting I’ll be upfront during our meet and greet about what my week looks like so you know exactly what to expect. If I’m in a lighter work week I may be home most of the day. If it’s a heavier one, your pet will still be cared for on schedule with daily updates and photos so you’re always in the loop. I send daily check-ins and photo updates through the app — not because I have to, but because I’d want the same if it were my pet. In your home, my goal is to keep things as close to normal as possible. I follow your lead on space, boundaries, and routines — whether that means crate time, free roam, or somewhere in between. You know your pet best and I’m here to honor that. My activity style matches the pet. Some animals want to play and roughhouse, others want a warm body nearby while they nap. I pay attention to what they’re telling me and respond accordingly — no forcing, no overstimulating, no ignoring. For cats specifically I understand that trust is earned on their timeline, not mine. I’ll be present and available without being intrusive, and I’ll make sure their food, water, litter, and any medications are handled consistently every single day. For dogs I make sure they’re getting outside regularly, staying on their feeding schedule, and getting the kind of engagement that fits their energy level.

“Arden is a very pleasant person. He took time to come by and meet my pets beforehand. He communicated really well, and I felt confident he was tak8ng good care of my little dog. I would definitely recommend him.”

“Andrea is amazing! She has been walking my dachshund Penny Monday-Friday for the past few weeks and what a difference it has made. Penny was displaying severe separation anxiety which haD led to destructive behavior. I was at the point of crating her during the day which I didn’t want to do. Andrea came in at the right time with patience and love. I am now returning the crate I bought because the destruction has stopped. I highly recommend her.”

About: Hello, my name is Shirley Gonzalez! Thank you for considering me to care for your pets. I’ve been caring for animals professionally since I was 17 when I started working at a doggy day care facility. Although, all throughout my childhood I had pets of all kinds such as parakeets, guinea pigs, gerbils, mice, snakes, and fish. After leaving the boarding industry, I decided to become a Vet Tech, to further pursue my passion. I have 4 years of vet tech experience total, some spent working in a high volume-low cost hospital, so I am confident I can handle just about anything, and have seen it all! I’m am capable of caring for all kinds of pets like Guinea pigs, rabbits, reptiles, to name a few; and of course, dogs and cats of all sizes. I have a soft spot for feisty chihuahuas and seniors! I have plenty of experience with dogs and cats that may be labeled as “difficult”, and will always be willing to do a meet and greet as many times as needed, beforehand to ensure they are comfortable while you’re away. I can safely administer medications orally, topically, or injections such as insulin. My experience as a vet tech has given me knowledge and tools that I use to ensure your pet stays safe, secure, and stress-free in a potentially stressful situation, as I understand some fur babies may have separation anxiety. I do accept drop-ins during my overnight stays, sometimes having to step out multiple times a day for a couple hours, so if that is something that will not work for your pets, please let me know so I can accommodate accordingly. I’m very big on reading body language, and I feel it goes a long way to making your pets feel at ease while you’re away. Comfort for your fur babies and peace of mind for you are part of the package deal! I’m available for overnight stays, and drop ins for any species. Drop ins always welcome! I can provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, even a bed time visit, and plenty of cuddles and playtime for kitties and pups who need that stimulation. I send you tons of pictures and updates throughout the day so you’ll never have to wonder what your pets are getting up to. If you like your update photos, ask about booking a private photo session, shot using a professional camera! I now provide full-time pet care services! We can work around your existing schedule so not much has to change for them. No routine is too extravagant! Currently, I do not offer boarding. I have a ton of in-home pet sitting experience and feel it’s easier on your pets when they get to stay home.
“Tennille is great! My pup liked her right away and she sent me pictures and an update. It was a big weight off my mind to know my dog was getting a nice break when I had a long day away.”

About: I treat every pet like family, giving them personalized care, patience, and plenty of love. I’m attentive to their needs and always put their comfort first. 🐾 I have a flexible schedule and can make time for walks, visits, and plenty of attention to keep your pets happy, comfortable, and cared for. Your pet’s safety and comfort always come first. I’m dependable, attentive, and respectful of your home, following your instructions and treating every pet with care.
About: I’ve cared for dogs and cats throughout my life, both as a pet owner and for friends and family who have trusted me with their pets. I also have experience volunteering at the Humane Society, where I walked, fed, and cared for dogs of all different breeds, sizes, and personalities. I currently have a dog, Olive, and a cat, Kirby, of my own. Olive can be anxious around new people, so I understand the importance of being patient and allowing pets to warm up at their own pace. Kirby is an indoor/outdoor cat, so I’m also very comfortable caring for cats with different routines and personalities. I have experience caring for pets with medical needs as well. One of my family dogs requires daily medication, which I have administered regularly. I also grew up with two cats who required daily medications and subcutaneous fluids, so I’m comfortable following specific care instructions and medication schedules. Having pets of my own, I know how important it is to have someone you trust caring for them while you’re away. I’ll treat your pets with the same patience, attention, and care that I give my own. I’m currently an Emergency Medicine resident, so my schedule varies from week to week. I work a mix of days, evenings, nights, and weekends, but I receive my schedule in advance and only accept bookings that I know I can accommodate. Because my work hours can vary, I’m happy to discuss your pet’s usual routine and how long they’re comfortable being alone before booking to make sure I’m a good fit. On my days off, I have plenty of flexibility for walks, playtime, and lots of attention! I primarily provide care at clients’ homes, where pets can stay comfortable in their own familiar environment. I do my best to keep their normal routine as consistent as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, playtime, medications, and any other specific care instructions. For house sitting and drop-in visits, I’ll make sure your pets get plenty of attention and will keep you updated with photos and messages so you can feel comfortable knowing they’re well cared for while you’re away.

“I recently hired Ally to walk my Teddy and I couldn't be happier with the service she provided. From our initial consultation, I could tell that Ally was passionate about dogs and genuinely cared about their well-being. Not only did Ally provide excellent care for my dog, but she also went above and beyond by offering additional services such as feeding, watering, and administering medication for my dog while I was away. Her attention to detail and level of care exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Ally to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate dog walker!”
“Mia was a great fit for myself and my dog, Jeeves. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a dog walker! She was punctual, communicated very effectively, and gave my pup lots of love.”

About: I am a retiree who would love to take care of your special fur babies. I have been blessed with 5 dogs at different times throughout my life. I cuurently live in apartments that do not allow dogs, unfortunately. I really miss having one of my own. Therefore, I would not only be taking special care of your dogs, but it would be fulfilling for me also. I have done dogsitting for 10 dogs over the last 14 years and enjoyed those times very much. The most recent dogsitting that I have done was with 2 cavaliers for 5 years as needed that I have absolutely loved. I have also volunteered at the Capital Area Humane Society & McKenzies Animal Sanctuary. I would love the opportunity to spend time with your fur babies. There is a special kinship that I have always felt when I am with either my own dogs or others. Thank you for your consideration! I am retired so I'm available to watch your dog most any time. I miss having my own dog & would love to care for yours! I would need to care for your dog at your place as they don't allow dogs in my apartment complex. I have taken care of other dogs in their homes and it has worked out very well.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
