“Bert was terrific! He had lots of patience and was caring with Sammy. Sammy is an 11 year old senior cat I adopted 5 weeks ago which means she’s still getting used to me and her surroundings. I was hesitant leaving her alone for a weekend so Bert house sat. She hid a lot under the which was completely understandable and didn’t surprise me. She ate her meals two times a day and he was able to coax her out a bit a couple of times with a lickable treat which was huge. Bert also sent several pictures a day which helped me rest easier. I would definitely have Bert back!”

“Audrey took great care of my dog, spent time playing with her, and made sure she got outside and exercised. She was also able to accommodate a same-day request when I was in a pinch, which was very helpful and much appreciated. Overall, a positive experience.”

“My family and I had an excellent experience with Jing. We have a greyhound with separation anxiety, and Jing was incredibly accommodating and understanding of our dog's individualized needs. She provided frequent updates and photos throughout her time house-sitting. We felt completely reassured and comforted that our dog was receiving exceptional care while we were away. We would wholeheartedly recommend Jing to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive pet sitter.”

“Donna was great. Prompt arrival and constant comma while we were away. She sent pictures and let us know Shirley was scratching her face likely due to anxiety. She treated our dog wonderfully and I would not hesitate to book again”

“Jenie is a rock star! She took phenomenal care of our sheltie Pepper. Super communicative, reliable, and trustworthy. She cared for Pepper for eight days and sent regular updates and photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Jenie has our highest recommendations.”

“We had an amazing experience with Anna over the Thanksgiving holiday. She stayed at our home and took incredible care of our pups, sending photos multiple times a day and keeping us fully updated on how everyone was doing. It gave us such peace of mind while we were away. Our dogs absolutely adored her, and we could tell they were comfortable and happy the entire time. We’re already looking forward to having her stay with them again in a few weeks. Highly recommend!”

“Boning took excellent care of Aurora for the week I was away. She sent photos regularly and kept me up to date on what was happening. Aurora was relaxed and healthy when I returned. Boning is an excellent sitter and I thank her!”

“Jeff was so kind and took great care of our two cats while we were away for the holiday weekend. Our girls can be very timid and they warmed up to him no problem. He came over and met with us on short notice, and was very professional. Highly recommend his services to anyone. Thanks again!!”

“Gail was so amazing with Beau! We were able to book her last minute which was much appreciated. She gave us updates and pictures of Beau, even a doggy report card at the end! She is a true dog lover and great sitter”

“Sarah provided phenomenal house sitting care for our anxious dog. She was very reliable and responsive and calmed our nerves with multiple photos and updates throughout the week. Highly recommend!”

“Beau had a wonderful time! Teaghan was super kind and attentive. Really easy to get a hold of her when we needed to and we loved getting photo and message updates while we were away. Staying at our home she kept it clean and even was so kind to take the sheets off the bed before she left! Beau loved having her and we can’t wait to have her again soon. 10/10!”

“I had an amazing experience with my dog and pig sitter, Eliza, who stayed at my home for over a week. She took exceptional care of both my dog and pig, and I came home to animals that were clearly happy, relaxed, and well-loved. Eliza made sure both animals received their medicine (rolling with the punches because Buddy got an infection right before we left so it was an added responsibility she took on in stride) Eliza was incredibly thoughtful and sent regular photo updates, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear from the pictures and her communication that my pets were getting real attention, not just basic care. She was also very communicative and responsive whenever I had questions, which made everything feel easy and stress-free. My dog Buddy clearly bonded with her during the stay, he actually seemed a little sad when Eliza left, buddy went to the room she stayed in when we got home from our trip 😂 before sleeping where he usually. Highly recommend I would trust Eliza again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive pet sitter.”

“Ani was phenomenal, checked in with us regularly and sent us pictures! Our house was immaculate when we got back and our senior dogs were so happy! We would definitely recommend Ani any time!”
“Kristin did a great job looking after our two cats and the house. She kept us informed about how the cats were doing while we were away, and it was clear she gave them plenty of love and attention. We’ll gladly have her back again to kitty-sit.”

“I really felt comfortable having Caitlin care for my sweet pup today. She was punctual, attentive and bonded quickly with Oliver. They spent time outdoors, and he got lots of his favorite belly rubs.☺️ I will definitely contact Caitlin again when the need arises.”

“Chloe did an absolutely amazing job taking care of our two dogs (Nala, a one year old golden retriever and Maui, an almost six year old, lab mix) while we were away. From the start, she was reliable, communicative, and clearly experienced with handling pets. She kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us real peace of mind knowing our dogs were happy and well cared for. One thing that really stood out was how quickly our dog Maui—who is usually very picky about people—gravitated toward her right away. That alone spoke volumes about Chloe’s calm, trustworthy presence and natural connection with animals. It’s obvious that Chloe genuinely cares about the animals she looks after, and she treated ours like her own. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Chloe to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and compassionate pet sitter. We are already thinking about leaving again so the dogs can hang out with Chloe.”

Bert was great! He was comfortable caring for our high-needs older dog and she seemed very comfortable with him (she usually takes some time to warm up!). He was communicative and sent lots of pictures so we knew everything was going well. Definitely recommend him for pet sitting!

Anna was wonderful with our big, active, mixed breed lovebug, Luna. She sent photos all the time, and Luna looked relaxed and happy in every one of them. She was so kind and communicated so well. We are so grateful to have found her and hope to use her again for house sitting!

Jenie is a rock star! She took phenomenal care of our sheltie Pepper. Super communicative, reliable, and trustworthy. She cared for Pepper for eight days and sent regular updates and photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Jenie has our highest recommendations.

I am beyond satisfied with Boning H. She was incredibly responsible and took amazing care of our dog, Chino—he was so happy with her. She also went above and beyond by helping us with the mail and trash. It truly felt like a premium service that exceeded every expectation. Highly recommended for any pet owner!

Margaret was amazing! She watched my dog over the weekend and he immediately took to her. I immediately trusted Margaret - she is dependable, caring and conscientious. She checked in often- sending photos of her visits and updates on how my dog was doing. I would enthusiastically recommend Margaret to anyone and would trust that she will care about your pet as much as you do while you’re gone.

Amy was fantastic! My dog and cat adopted her right away and enjoyed their mini vacation! She even came home from work in the middle of the day to make sure the two animals were doing fine. And shoveled the side walk when we had some unexpected snow! :) Highly recommend.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Walpole walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Walpole maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Walpole choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
