“After using Rover for the past 6 years with multiple different overnight sitters for our doodle, we had our best experience ever with Lindsay. She is by far the most professional sitter we have ever had. She stayed for four nights, starting relatively early on day 1 and ending relatively late on day 5. We received updates in the mornings and at night along with photos and videos. When we got home, the sheets were washed and the best was made, the house was spotless, and our dog was happy and well cared for. I would highly recommend Lindsay.”

“Once again Marilyn has done a superb job staying over and taking care of my cat kids. She does the essentials, of course, but also engages them in a lot play as evidenced by the pictures she sends each day. It is clear that my cats really like her, and Marilyn remains my go-to sitter.”

“So happy we found Chris! He was super flexible and helpful and able to watch our babies again on short notice! Feeling very relieved to have found a nice reliable person to take care of my fur family while I’m away”

“Very attentive and communicative, she understands directions well and clearly enjoys cats. She has some conflicts with her schedule as she is a student but overall, I would hire her again.”

“Amanda has been awesome! She has taken great care of Rosco now several times and we really appreciate her. Thanks for taking great care of Rosco when we go away and adjusting when we have last minute travel plans. Amanda is the best!!”

“Jainah was wonderful with my needy pup Xie Xie and took great care to make sure he ate. She hand fed him with out my asking! I was updated on walks and her care and couldn’t be more grateful!”

“Angie was absolutely fabulous with our pup! She was so caring, sent plenty of adorable updates, and treated Maisy like her own. It was clear our dog loved her, too! Without a doubt, we’d love to book with Angie again. Thank you for taking such great care of our pup and our apartment!”

“Jenie is a rock star! She took phenomenal care of our sheltie Pepper. Super communicative, reliable, and trustworthy. She cared for Pepper for eight days and sent regular updates and photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Jenie has our highest recommendations.”

“Katie and her friend Jesse stayed at our house for 5 nights and took care of our 60 lb, 10 month old puppy who had recently gone into heat. They were very responsive, provided plenty of updates, and took great care of our pup (and our house). Even our neighbors who ran into them on a walk were impressed! We were very fortunate to have found them to help us out last minute.”

“Anna took excellent care of our two cats and home! She followed all instructions exactly as we left them, sent lots of updates and photos, and left our home in absolutely perfect shape. We're thankful for not being worried at all about our cats and home while we were away on a short trip and would love to book with Anna again in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Readville
Marilyn treated our house and pups like her own. The dogs got plenty of attention and exercise and the house was exactly how we left it. She communicates with lots of pictures and our dogs seemed very happy. Would recommend Marilyn to others and we plan on having her back (if she’ll have us) next time we go away
Marangela was absolutely wonderful! She was able to pet sit for us last minute, and from the very beginning, she was so communicative, responsive, and reliable. She took such great care of our dogs and kept us updated throughout her stay, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that our dogs were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. We’re so grateful for her help and will definitely be rebooking with her in the future! Highly recommend Marangela!

Lindsay was amazing! Long story short, she took care of our 3 small but high maintenance pets while the family took a long overdue and much needed vacation. She was kind and gentle with our pets. Even the cat — who doesn’t like anyone —and I mean NO-ONE— he warmed up to her. We came back and things were organized and clean— a real break. She is an excellent communicator, sent pictures and videos daily & asked questions when needed. We truly appreciate the service and please tell her the pets miss her .. esp. Jinx!

Susannah was absolutely amazing with our anxious dog. She provided great updates throughout the weekend, was extremely communicative about her schedule, and went above and beyond making our dog feel comfortable. I 100% would recommend her as a sitter, and would love to hire her again.

Elizabeth was wonderful with our 10 month old puppy, Max! She made sure Max had plenty of time to get his energy out, took him for multiple walks and had him outside playing with her own dog! Elizabeth gave Max a great experience with socialization and play, which we really appreciated. :) Elizabeth followed care instructions perfectly, was in communication consistently and always shared pictures and videos! She is so kind and was very respectful of our home. I would absolutely recommend Elizabeth to anyone who is in need of a trusted pet sitter, we would look forward to an opportunity to work with her again in the future!

Al is amazing! She house sat for us for 4 nights/5 days, and she took wonderful care of our home and our 3.5-month-old beagle puppy. We set up a meet-and-greet with Al a few weeks before her stay, and we knew we would be in good hands from the moment we met her. Our puppy instantly gravitated towards her, too, and enjoyed playing with her and snuggling with her. Al was communicative throughout her entire stay at our house, sharing text and photo updates with us each day. She’s fun, caring and responsible, and we’re so grateful we found her. We highly recommend her!

Another 5-Star review for Yanira. Yanira is the best of the best. We have used her many times to dog sit our sheltie, Pepper, and she has always provided outstanding care. Our instructions are always followed, photos and updates are sent regularly, and our house is left immaculate when we return. We have complete peace of mind knowing Pepper is in such loving and reliable hands. Yanira is wonderful, trustworthy, and truly goes above and beyond. She is highly recommended to anyone looking for an exceptional dog sitter. Thank you, Yanira.

Joanna took excellent care of our two dogs for a week while we were out of town. They settled right in with her, even our skittish newly adopted puppy, and she did a great job keeping us up to date with daily photos, notes, etc. I would highly recommend Joanna to anyone looking for someone to take care of their fur babies!

Chloe did an absolutely amazing job taking care of our two dogs (Nala, a one year old golden retriever and Maui, an almost six year old, lab mix) while we were away. From the start, she was reliable, communicative, and clearly experienced with handling pets. She kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us real peace of mind knowing our dogs were happy and well cared for. One thing that really stood out was how quickly our dog Maui—who is usually very picky about people—gravitated toward her right away. That alone spoke volumes about Chloe’s calm, trustworthy presence and natural connection with animals. It’s obvious that Chloe genuinely cares about the animals she looks after, and she treated ours like her own. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Chloe to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and compassionate pet sitter. We are already thinking about leaving again so the dogs can hang out with Chloe.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Readville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Readville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Readville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Readville. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
