Yogi loved having Leslie to watch him! She also had a meet and greet earlier in the week to meet Yogi so he was familiar with her. She made sure all of his needs were met and enjoyed playing with him. Yogi can’t wait to have her back!

About: I had a dog, her name was Kenya from 8-15 and she unfortunately passed from health conditions. She was a family dog I’ve known and looked after since I can remembered, my cousin gave her to me and my mother when they moved. As she got older, me and my mother had to give her medication for a couple months before, paying close attention to her habits during her later months :/ . I currently have a small, short-haired grey Cat named Sonny. I visit my cousin frequently throughout the month and I always offer to walk her dog because I enjoy walks! I’m currently working as a full time ortho assistant Mon-Thursday, Usually leaving the office around 4:30 pm. Fri-Sun I’m completely free. For overnight stays during my work days, I am willing to travel from your home to my job, leaving in the early mornings After consulting with future clients, I’ll keep track of any dietary needs, special care instructions and any indicator habits I should know about prior to servicing your fur baby!❤️

About: I've done pet sitting for family, friends, and neighbors for most of my life. This includes care of dogs to include feeding, play, walking, and administering meds if applicable. I currently have a six year old English Bulldog who is a stubborn sweetheart and I regularly pet sit for a family member's pitbull mix. I will be available on marked days, most regularly weekends as well as selected weekday options as I have a flexible/remote work set-up. I take care of pets of my own (as well as children) so I can confidently fill in to care for your pet. I have reliable transportation and defined radius on my profile so I can arrange for several walks and in home check-ins and care throughout the day and evening. When/if I do board or care for a client's pet in my home, there is a fenced in backyard and one other dog in the home.

I highly recommend Jessica! I was extremely happy with the care she provided for my two cats and my little special‑needs dog. She was responsive whenever I reached out and consistently shared updates throughout her stay, which gave me great peace of mind knowing my pets were in excellent hands. Jessica was also very respectful of my home—it was left tidy and well cared for (trash taken out, bed made, no dishes in the sink, etc.). I’m really looking forward to booking her again the next time I travel!

If I could give Eileen more than five stars, I absolutely would! We hired Eileen to stay in our home for six days while caring for our two dogs, who couldn’t be more different. Our one-year-old Golden Retriever, Lilo, is full of energy, always ready to play, and constantly looking for something to do. Our 16-year-old poodle mix is enjoying his retirement and prefers a much slower, more relaxed pace. Eileen immediately understood both of their personalities and tailored her care to each of them perfectly. She kept Lilo engaged, entertained, and even helped her learn new tricks during the week, while also making sure our senior dog was comfortable, happy, and given all the patience and gentle care he deserves. It was obvious from the updates that both dogs absolutely adored her. One of the things we appreciated most was her communication. She sent us frequent updates, photos, and messages that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. She followed every instruction we left, paid attention to every detail, and treated our dogs as if they were her own. When we returned home, our house was spotless—honestly, it looked just as good as when we left. It’s rare to find someone who not only takes exceptional care of your pets but also treats your home with the same level of respect and care. The greatest compliment we can give is that we never once worried while we were away. We were able to fully enjoy our trip because we knew our dogs were in the best possible hands. We cannot recommend Eileen highly enough. If you’re looking for someone who is kind, responsible, communicative, trustworthy, and genuinely loves animals, look no further. We will absolutely be booking her again!

Heli was AMAZING when she stayed in our home to watch our severely speration anxiety ridden cockapoo, Ruby. I felt relieved and relaxed knowing Heli was watching Ruby while my family and I were away for a week. Although we had not previously met, I was immediately put at ease with the way she interacted with both Ruby and me. Heli also sent me a ton of pictures while we were away showing all the fun activities they were doing. She also kept to Ruby's schedule. As a very picky mama, I would 100% use and reccomend Heli in the future.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for several years and truly love making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved. Before getting my own dog, Kira, I cared for a Shih Tzu and an English Springer Spaniel in my home, including taking them on walks and giving them lots of attention. I’ve now cared for my Maltipoo, Kira, for four years and have taught her potty-pad training since I got her when she was only 3 months old, leash training, and different tricks. I’m comfortable with dogs of different sizes and personalities, and I always make it my priority to give every dog the same love, patience, and care I give my own! My schedule is fairly flexible since I currently work part-time, although my work schedule varies from day to day and isn’t the same every week. Because of this, my availability depends on my work schedule, but I’m able to plan around it and communicate my availability in advance. I’m especially available on weekends and can often accommodate walks, drop-ins, and in-home pet care. I’m always happy to communicate my availability in advance and make sure I can give each pet the time and attention they deserve! When caring for pets in their home, I make sure to follow their usual routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable and at ease. I’ll provide fresh food and water, take them on walks or give them playtime and attention, and make sure they’re safe and comfortable throughout my visit. I also understand that every pet has a different personality and needs, so I’m happy to follow any specific instructions from their owner. Most importantly, I treat every pet with the same patience, care, and love I would give my own.

About: I have been around dogs almost my whole life and enjoy taking care of them! I got my dog when I was around 15 and she is genuinely the best part of my life! I know how difficult it is to find someone you trust enough to take care of your dog and will make sure that I can be that person for others. I’ve dog sat for people throughout the years and it is such an amazing experience to spend time with the dogs. I am currently searching for a full time job after recently finishing university so my availability to take care of your furry loved ones is pretty open. Growing up my mom has always been employed as a house cleaner and would take me with her to help, from a young age I’ve always known how to respect people’s homes even when they are not present. Ensuring that people are comfortable enough to trust me with their pet in their home is my utmost priority.

A+ Mayra took very good care of Birdie and Charlie. She kept us informed of their day-to-day progress. Charlie is an easy dog to take care of, and Birdie has health issues and takes a lot of medicine twice a day. Mayra made sure that Birdie got her medicine on-time each day. I will use her again when the time arises.

FAQs for House Sitting - Damascus

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Damascus on Rover is $46.62 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 10,616 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Damascus. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Damascus walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Damascus maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Damascus choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Damascus. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
