“We cannot thank Rebecca enough for how fantastic of a job she did again, with taking thorough care of our Pearl! She goes way above and beyond: in addition of taking care of our cat's food, water, and litter, Rebecca also spends time to play with her. Truly cannot commend and recommend her enough!”

“When we returned for vacation, I noticed that my dog was well-trained. It seems that I not only hired a pet sitter but also a pat trainer. My neighbor informed me of her exceptional skills with my dog. Now they like to have her as pat sitter as well. She was very responsive and on time every time”

“Ameneh was so easy to work with! She provided great daily updates on our loves as well as an unexpected update on our home- a neighbors tree fell and blocked our driveway! Our little loves were well cared for and I will definitely look to book her again!”

About: I’ve been caring for pets for over 6 years and it’s something I genuinely love doing. I’ve always been a dog person and having a dog of my own for many years taught me how much joy, comfort and personality they add to a home. That experience shaped the way I care for every pet I meet — with patience, attention and the same affection I’d give to my own. I’m comfortable with dogs of all temperaments and energy levels and make sure each one feels safe, relaxed and understood. Whether it’s keeping up with their routines, giving them plenty of playtime or just being a calm presence, I’m committed to making their time with me happy and stress‑free. Your pet will always be treated like family. Pet care fits easily into my weekly routine. I’m home consistently, have a flexible schedule, and make time every day for walks, play, and check‑ins. I enjoy having pets around, so giving them attention and keeping them on their routine is something I naturally build into my day. I follow whatever routine your pet is used to — feeding, walks, playtime, and any special instructions. I keep a close eye on them and send regular updates so you always know how they’re doing. Whether in your home or mine, I make sure they’re comfortable, safe, and getting plenty of attention.
“I can’t recommend Samantha highly enough! From start to finish, she was dependable, friendly, clearly cared about my two kitties and took the time to build a real bond with them. When the app wasn’t accessible, she was incredibly accommodating and kept in touch over email without missing a beat. I received videos and daily photos, which gave me such peace of mind while I was away. I’ll absolutely be booking again, and I’d trust her with my kitties anytime.”

“Rene is absolutely fantastic. She was always prompt, diligent and so caring for our cat. This was our first time leaving Milo. Rene immediately put us at ease. She communicated constantly. She came prior to the scheduled visits to meet Milo, who loved Rene instantly. During the visits, Rene sent us pictures of Milo. She did “all the things” (litterbox, food, water etc), probably more carefully than we do at home haha. Rene even brushed Milo, which was above and beyond. We are so happy Rene took care of our pet. We can’t say enough good things about Rene.”

“We appreciate Elspeth's help in taking care of our chocolate lab Ziggy while we were on a day trip. She is an excellent communicator and very conscientious, and it was clear she did a fine job taking care of Ziggy's needs for a potty break, food, and play. She will be our go-to sitter whenever she's available.”

About: Dogs have been in my life since I was 12 years old. I have had 4 dogs throughout that time. I have experience with both senior dogs and high-energy younger dogs. I am more used to smaller dogs, but one of my current 2 dogs is a 54lb pitt-bull, the other one is a 15lb pug mix. I also used to take care of a 70lb standard poodle for a family I was a nanny for. I am currently unemployed, so I have open availability. I am working on my master´s degree and would like to use this extra time to save a little money since I just got married. I offer dog walking and house sitting services. I can also play with them and provide a safe and comfortable envoinment. I will adapt to whatever specific needs your pets may have.
“Christa has a way with animals - my cats liked her immediately when she came over to meet them before my trip. She sent pictures every day. Seeing that all was well helped me relax and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with my family!”

“Brooke did fantastic taking care of my cats while I was away! She made sure to keep me updated with pictures and messages of how they were doing. They loved their play time and treats while mom was away :) Thank you Brooke!”

“Julia has been wonderful! Really great with my young pup who can be difficult to handle at times, but he loves her! Julia is super responsive, always on time, and more than willing to assist us even if an issue arises last second. I highly recommend her services!”

About: I have been a dog owner for 30 years. I have also taken care of all kinds of dogs. People have trusted me to take care of their dogs for years. I currently run my son Aden's autism adult work program, leaving me time for a part-time dog walking job. Dog walking is a job that my son and I can do together. I can walk your dog in your neighborhood and I have a fenced-in yard if your dog needs a place to exercise in a safe environment.

“Highly recommend! When Rosie was unable to get to my house to walk Kobe at the regular time, she went above and beyond to find a reliable and trusted person who could. Excellent communication and service.”

“Sheila was wonderful! She left detailed notes that reassured me that my pups were doing well and took the time to bring my shy dog out of her shell. I will definitely request her services again next time!”
“My kitties adore having Stephanie care for them while we’re on vacation! She’s extremely communicative, trustworthy, and really goes the extra mile for her clients. She’s the best!!”

About: Hi! I’m Sophia, a Division I student-athlete at SMU and a former Assistant Crew Chief with the Ocean City Beach Patrol and now a part-time dog caretaker. I’ve grown up around dogs my whole life and have cared for pets of my own, for my family, friends, and neighbors over the years. Whether your pet needs a long walk, playtime, feeding, medication reminders, or simply someone to keep them company, I’ll treat them like they’re my own. My active lifestyle means I love getting outside with energetic dogs, but I’m just as happy spending time with senior pets who need extra patience and attention. I understand how important trust is when leaving your pet with someone new, so I’ll always provide updates, photos, and clear communication while you’re away. My goal is for both you and your pet to feel comfortable, safe, and cared for every step of the way. As a Division I student-athlete at SMU, I maintain a structured schedule that allows me to provide dependable and attentive pet care. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting around my classes and training, with additional flexibility on evenings and weekends. I always communicate clearly, arrive on time, and make sure your pet receives the attention, exercise, and care they deserve. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I’ll always follow your pet’s normal routine, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and any special instructions. I understand that every pet has a unique personality, so I’ll take the time to build trust and ensure they feel comfortable in their own environment. I’ll also send regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.

Michelle helped me out with my cat Peaches. This is my first time owning a cat and now first time having a sitter. Michelle was wonderful! She came to visit me and Peaches before the sitting and Peaches loved her. I knew I had chosen the right person. Not only do I now have a sitter but also a friend. Thank you Michelle for everything. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Damascus. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
