âJamie was awesome. Communicative and funny and really responsive to needs. Jamie took great care of our pup and took him on plenty of adventures. Jamie also took great care of our home. Jamie let us know about any problems promptly and handled it all well. Weâre really thankful for all of the help.â

âTova takes great care of my dog every time. She also leaves my house clean and communicates throughout her stays with wonderful pictures and updates that show my dog is happy, safe, and cared for. What more could you want?!â

âWe would absolutely book Kayla again! She was incredibly communicative throughout, and from the photos she sent, it was clear our dog was happy and comfortable with herâhis wagging tail said it all. Since he's not typically used to being around others, we were thrilled with how well he settled in. Kayla was also very accommodating to all of our requests. Thank you, Kayla!â

âSam was great with our 2 whippets, which can be a handful. We booked Sam on short notice due to a funeral and he was very accommodating. I would recommend him for sure!â

âLaurel was excellent! Laurel came and stayed with 1-year old Lab, Wally for a few days last week. She sent multiple updates and pictures everyday and seemed to genuinely enjoyed her time with him. It was an extremely hot week and I felt she very conscientious about keeping him cool in the shade or air conditioning. I was delayed coming home and she stayed as long as she could and when I was delayed even longer (flight issues) she came back at 10pm to take him out again and make sure he had some company. Her care and flexibility was above and beyond expectations. Laurel was communicative, contentious, and above all caring. I would đŻ have her back in my home.â

âSergey was great! Very easygoing and laidback. Communicated well, and the animals enjoyed his company. Sergey sent photos and provided regular updates.â

âJordyn is the friendliest, most reliable, dog-loving, tidiest, amazing dog sitter! She handled my two large rescue mutts with ease and joy. A truly delightful experience!â

âJonas was very accommodating to our dogs needs. She was well cared for and we were kept well informed with lots of pictures of daily activities. They kept the house in great condition as well- even watered our many flower boxes and plants. Would definitely use Jonas againâ

âRyan was amazing!! Wonderful communicator!! Sent pics and kept me updated which makes me feel such comfort! House was left even cleaner than I left it too. Such a kind person I canât wait to book again! Thank you!!â

âAmy was fantastic! I felt very comfortable leaving my dogs with her. She was responsive and my dogs and house seemed well taken care of, would definitely book again!â

âI highly recommend John! He asked questions to clarify my dogs needs, sent regular updates and even shared photos. His attentiveness allowed me to enjoy my few days out of town without worrying about my 2 senior dogs.â

âLily took on the task of housesitting and taking care of our two dogs, two cats, and a lizard for almost a full week. It was such a relief to not have to worry about our little circus while we were on vacation. She did a fantastic job and seems like a really good human on top of it. We would definitely recommend her and would not hesitate to rebook her in the future.â

âBrittany did a wonderful job house and pet sitting for our senior dog, Sally, at a time that she needed a LOT of special attention after a medical incident- multiple pills throughout the day, careful with physical activity, etc. Brittany was flexible and had great communication prior to her stay. She left the house perfectly clean and we were so grateful to know Sally was well taken care of while we were out of town. I would highly recommend Brittany for anyone needing pet or house sitting services!â

âLynn took excellent care of our high maintenance French bulldogs while weâre out of the country on an eight day vacation. Our Frenchie hazy is paralyzed in a wheelchair requiring bladder expressions multiple times per day and Lynn was able to adhere to her complex needs, medications and schedule. Despite all the attention provided to Hazy, Lynn did not fail to tend to our needy Frenchton Peppers who struggles with separation anxiety and can have temperament issues. She provided both dogs with love and attention. Overall, we had great experience and would rehire Lynn again to care for our dogs.â

âColby provided excellent care for our two dogs! He was easy to chat with ahead of our trip and communicative while we were away - we appreciated getting updates. Colby was tasked with administering medication to our younger dog and he did so reliably. Pups were happy when we returned and had clearly received good care. We will certainly hire Colby again!â

âKari did a wonderful job caring for our dog, Butters! She took care of his medical needs and was very good at communication, providing us routine updates and photos. She also left the house clean, which was greatly appreciated. We would be happy to have Kari back to help us out in the future and highly recommend her!â

âJulianne was super responsive and sent a number of photos of our dog! She stayed in our home and we came back to it being cleaner than we left it! Julianne is super kind and we will definitely use her again!â

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cumberland Foreside
Laurel was phenomenal. We have always had family members watch our dogs so this was our 1st time using a new person to watch them. We have 2 dogs and one of them is a geriatric dog that need some extra care and Laurel was great with him and his needs. She sent daily updates with pics that really eased our minds. We will absolutely use her again.
Lynn took great care of all of our animals. Our dog was quite content when we got home and even our skittish cat was comfortable with her. Also the house was in terrific shape and she even washed her sheets and towels. We are so grateful for her loving care.

Cam was so great with our dog and two cats while we were away for the holiday weekend. He came to meet all the pets a couple of days before staying with us and our dog especially loved hanging out with him on the couch and going for walks while we were away. One of our cats is a finicky eater, and Cam was super mindful to make sure he was eating in a place that he was comfortable. 10/10 on Cam and would definitely rebook again! Thanks so much.

Hope did so well with our cat! Iâm so glad that we came across her. Hope communicated well, sent lots of pictures and updates, brought in some mail for us, and made sure our cat was well taken care of. You can tell that she âgetsâ cats. It was clear that our cat felt comfortable and at ease with her, which really helped us feel at ease while we were away! We would definitely hire Hope to stay with our cat again and highly recommend her as a pet sitter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitterâs presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cumberland Foreside walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your homeâs security or appliances.
Itâs helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cumberland Foreside maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate theyâll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your petâs profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cumberland Foreside choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Roverâs commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justiceâs National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
