Jamie was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Pete, over the Christmas holiday. Not only was she great with Pete, but she also navigated a big snow storm and power outage with ease. We felt so at ease knowing that she was holding down the fort when we were out of state. She is a great communicator, left the house in immaculate condition, and even gave Pete a handmade Christmas stocking! We'd love to have her back.

We would absolutely book Kayla again! She was incredibly communicative throughout, and from the photos she sent, it was clear our dog was happy and comfortable with her—his wagging tail said it all. Since he's not typically used to being around others, we were thrilled with how well he settled in. Kayla was also very accommodating to all of our requests. Thank you, Kayla!

Kourtney was perfectly wonderful with my four Papillons. Undaunted by numbers, she seamlessly fed, walked, and stayed in contact with me, providing photos as the Paps progressed through their day. Highly recommended. I was able to enjoy my travels and event, without worry. Kourtney is an authentic dog lover and these dogs love her !

About: I believe all dogs should be treated with the same compassion that humans are. When I first got my dog Sammie, he was poorly trained and dealing with stomach issues. But with a change of habit and diet he’s making progress every single day! I believe in walks that are slow with plenty of “sniff time” so they can experience the world around them. With Sammie, he goes on walks every 2-4 hours and each day gets some “explore time” where I go to a park, switch to my 30 foot long leash, and allow him to take in the world around him. Giving your dog a chance to let them lead for a change really has strengthened our bond! I can work with any dog, hyper, couch-potato or anywhere in-between! Not only will I provide the necessities such as frequent potty breaks, play time, and plenty of snuggles, but I will stimulate their minds with lick mats!

Laurel was excellent! Laurel came and stayed with 1-year old Lab, Wally for a few days last week. She sent multiple updates and pictures everyday and seemed to genuinely enjoyed her time with him. It was an extremely hot week and I felt she very conscientious about keeping him cool in the shade or air conditioning. I was delayed coming home and she stayed as long as she could and when I was delayed even longer (flight issues) she came back at 10pm to take him out again and make sure he had some company. Her care and flexibility was above and beyond expectations. Laurel was communicative, contentious, and above all caring. I would 💯 have her back in my home.

About: I grew up with big dogs and many cats and have a lot of experience with them! Family and friends have relied on me to walk, feed, and play with their pets while they are out of town or if they are behind on time. I am an animal lover and would love to keep your pet company while you’re away. I currently work full time so my schedule varies weekly! I would’ve to hep get your pups outside when I get home from work or before depending on my shift. Please reach out to coordinate! Not only will I walk you dog but I’ll make sure to give them lots of love and more than just a bathroom break! I’ll make sure to get the energy they’ve been saving all day out.

Lily took on the task of housesitting and taking care of our two dogs, two cats, and a lizard for almost a full week. It was such a relief to not have to worry about our little circus while we were on vacation. She did a fantastic job and seems like a really good human on top of it. We would definitely recommend her and would not hesitate to rebook her in the future.

10 out of 10 ! Craig and Chelsea were amazing! Extremely professional, knowledgeable and very intuitive when it came to caring for my boy! I was very impressed with the initial on boarding and the time Craig took to understand our pet’s needs, and behaviors to ensure it was a seamless experience while we were away . He had a terrific manner in meeting our pet for the first time and one could tell immediately that this was someone that truly cared for our pet’s wellbeing. It was the first time we left our pet alone to travel since rescuing him and I couldn’t have felt more comfortable that he was in good care than if left him with a family member!! We received regular updates and came home to a spotless home . Craig went above and beyond and it was overall a terrific experience!!! Thank you, thank you , thank you !!

About: I've been a small animal veterinary technician for more than 10 years. My specialty is senior care, including managing cats or dogs with diabetes or kidney disease. I previously had a cat-sitting business when I worked at The Cat Practice in New York City in the mid 1990s. Here in Maine, I have had occasional pet sitting jobs. I am also an experienced horse owner. I am currently working part-time, and can easily fit in visits to your furry friends. I am based out of Gray and will travel within 30-45 minutes of my home. I can also provide over-night care as well. For home visits, I will spend at least 30 minutes with your pet at each visit, if not longer. During that time I will play with them, take them for walks (if canine), or sit quietly if a kitty or older canine prefers. I will feed, ensure they have fresh, clean water, and maintain litter boxes if feline.

I cannot recommend Ryan highly enough! Leaving my high-needs, anxious dog for a work trip is always a source of stress, but Ryan completely put my mind at ease. From our initial meet-and-greet, it was clear that Ryan is not only a true animal lover but also incredibly knowledgeable and patient. My dog requires a lot of extra attention and can be quite nervous with new people, but Ryan handled him with such a calm and confident demeanor. I received regular updates, including photos that showed my dog was not just being cared for, but was comfortable in Ryan's hands. This consistent communication was invaluable and allowed me to focus on my work knowing Oliver was okay. Ryan went above and beyond to alleviate his anxiety and let him have the space he need to feel comfortable. I returned home to a happy, relaxed dog, which is the best indicator of the excellent care he received. In addition, the house was spotless which is always nice to return home too. If you're looking for a pet sitter who is reliable, compassionate, and truly understands how to care for anxious or high-needs pets, Ryan is absolutely the one to choose.

Cam was so great with our dog and two cats while we were away for the holiday weekend. He came to meet all the pets a couple of days before staying with us and our dog especially loved hanging out with him on the couch and going for walks while we were away. One of our cats is a finicky eater, and Cam was super mindful to make sure he was eating in a place that he was comfortable. 10/10 on Cam and would definitely rebook again! Thanks so much.

FAQs for House Sitting - Yarmouth

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Yarmouth on Rover is $77.7 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 665 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Yarmouth. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Yarmouth walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Yarmouth maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Yarmouth choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Yarmouth. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
