I have put my life on hold for a long time, but leaving my fur babies with anyone is always stressful. However, Elena is a breath of fresh air! She is truly amazing, and I felt at ease with her immediately. Elena is very communicative and sends cute photos to check in regularly. Marley recently lost her brother and has been feeling depressed. The bonus is that Elena has a 2-year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle named Lava, whom we introduced to Marley during a meet and greet. They got along so well that Lava gets to babysit too! I hope this new friendship will help bring Marley out of her shell and support her through the grieving process. I cannot say enough great things about Elena. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring dog nanny who may even teach their fur baby a trick or two! Lava does backward handstands on command so definitely talk to her about dog training, which is a passion of hers.

Makela was absolutely incredible to work with from the first meet and greet to our final farewell. Our kitties were given incredible care and company while we were away. Makela stayed in our home so that our kitties were not lonely and that made us comfortable to leave for our trip. Makela made sure to provide us pictures and regular updates throughout our trip to keep us in contact. I would highly recommend Makela!

Jayden was amazing with our pets!! We have some unique needs and she was so attentive to detail. We were gone for a week and every day we got an update and she also sent some photos. She took care of the house, and it was clean when we returned home, just as we had left it! Our pets love her and we will for sure be rebooking with her.

Abby is a wonderful sitter! We used her for our 2 kitties when we went away for the weekend; she’s communicative, sends lots of photo updates, has a cheerful demeanor, and best of all we came home to the house as we left it and 2 very well cared for kitties. She’s definitely our go to sitter! Thanks!!!

Isabel is the best! From when I first met her at the meet and greet I knew she would be great for Roxy. She took great care of my fur baby. She gave Roxy lots of attention and loves just what my little separation anxiety girl needs. She sent pictures and video daily and was quick to respond whenever I reached out. When our flight got delayed she was so understanding and helpful. It was a big relief she could work it into her schedule to stay another night. I can’t recommend her enough! She will always be my first choice, thank you Isabel!

Here's a warm, polished review: Selena did an amazing job with Bella! She made sure Bella got plenty of exercise, and I could tell she genuinely cared for her while I was away for the evening. I came home to happy and relaxed pup! Selena was also an excellent communicator, keeping me updated and sending photos throughout the visit, which gave me so much peace of mind. I really appreciated her reliability and the care she showed Bella. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Selena again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter!

I would highly recommend Morgan to anyone who needs their pups or house watched she was fantastic! We will definitely book with her in the future. About: 🐾 What sets me apart is my lifelong experience with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities, along with my hands-on experience in training, grooming, and behavior management. Growing up, I helped care for a Schipperke and later two Chihuahuas, where I developed a love for daily walks, grooming, and building strong relationships with dogs. As I got older, I wanted to expand my experience and raise a high-energy working breed, which led me to my Australian Shepherd, Bailey. 🐶 Since bringing Bailey home as a puppy 7 years ago, I’ve participated in obedience training, at-home training, 4-H, showing, herding, and swimming activities. I also learned how to groom her myself and developed a strong understanding of canine body language and behavior. Through raising her from puppyhood to adulthood, I learned how to recognize what dogs are communicating through their actions, energy levels, and routines. ❤️ I later welcomed a second Australian Shepherd, Willow, who has a completely different personality. She’s vocal, energetic, and more sensitive to certain environments, which taught me that every dog has unique needs and triggers. This experience helped me become adaptable and attentive to each dog’s individual personality. 🎓 In addition to caring for my own dogs, I’ve helped owners work on puppy house manners, basic obedience, and simple tricks. I’ve cared for dogs ranging from small companion breeds to larger breeds such as Labradors and German Shepherd mixes. ✨ Whether your dog needs an energetic walking partner, a patient sitter, reinforcement of good manners, or simply someone who understands their unique personality, I strive to provide care that makes them feel safe, understood, and loved. Pet care is already a major part of my daily and weekly routine. As the owner of two Australian Shepherds and a young cat, I’m used to planning my schedule around feeding times, exercise, playtime, grooming, and providing companionship. 🐶 My dogs receive daily walks and enrichment activities, and I regularly brush and groom them to keep them comfortable and healthy. My cat also gets dedicated playtime and attention throughout the day. Caring for pets isn’t something I fit in when I have spare time—it’s already an important part of my lifestyle. Because I’m accustomed to caring for animals with different personalities and energy levels, adding pet sitting, drop-in visits, or walks fits naturally into my routine. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, whether that means going on a long walk, playing fetch, providing enrichment, or simply keeping a pet company while their owner is away. I understand how important consistency is for pets, so I do my best to maintain their normal routines and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Whether I’m caring for pets in my own home or a client’s home, my goal is to keep their routine as consistent and stress-free as possible. I start by learning about each pet’s schedule, personality, preferences, and any special instructions. I want to know things like feeding routines, exercise needs, favorite activities, medications, areas they are allowed in, and any behaviors or triggers I should be aware of. For dogs, I provide walks, playtime, potty breaks, enrichment, and plenty of companionship. I’m experienced with both high-energy dogs, like my Australian Shepherds, and more laid-back dogs who prefer a slower pace. I also reinforce house manners and any training routines owners are already working on. For cats, I make sure they have fresh food and water, clean litter boxes, playtime, and attention based on their comfort level. As a cat owner myself, I understand that some cats love to socialize while others prefer their space, and I adjust my care accordingly. I also pay close attention to a pet’s behavior and body language. After raising dogs and cats with very different personalities, I’ve learned how important it is to recognize when a pet is excited, nervous, tired, overstimulated, or simply wants affection. Above all, I treat every pet as if they were my own by providing a safe environment, consistent care, lots of love, and regular updates to owners so they can feel confident while they’re away.

Jessica was absolutely amazing! She stayed overnight with our two elderly dogs (ages 12 and 17), and I truly couldn't have asked for a better experience. Leaving senior dogs is never easy, but Jessica's excellent communication, attention to detail, and genuine care made me feel completely confident and at ease while we were away. She went above and beyond in every way, and it was obvious that she treated our pups as if they were her own. Knowing our dogs were safe, comfortable, and well cared for gave us so much peace of mind. I truly can't thank Jessica enough for everything she did. If you're looking for someone who is reliable, compassionate, and incredibly attentive, I highly recommend her. We would happily book with her again!

Kelly is amazing, I feel like I can never come up with enough good things to say, because nothing is ever enough to describe our experiences. Our house is cleaner than when we left it, the consistent communication and pictures and videos have me feeling so good about leaving my home and dogs in her care. I never worry about anything. I used to feel guilty about taking trips but now I think my dogs are just as happy (maybe more) left in her care. The level of care she provides, is like nothing I’ve experienced and we’ve had a number of great people over the last 4 years, but she is by far, the best. I feel like Kelly really connects with people and especially with dogs. She’s really a wonderful person. We’ve done several sits and I am so thankful to have found someone I trust so much and genuinely feel connected to. We’re already planning our next trip.

We were happy to have Sara back for a second stay with our dog, this time for an extended weekend. Sara took great care of Sammy once again, enjoying lots of long walks together - Sammy’s favorite activity! Sara kept us updated each day, with pictures and info on their outings. Sara knew Sammy is picky about eating, especially while we’re away, and reached out to inquire about tips to entice Sammy to eat. Sara also took great care of our house, leaving everything in perfect order when we returned. We look forward to seeing Sara again for future trips!

FAQs for House Sitting - Covington

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Covington on Rover is $64.6 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 7,987 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Covington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Covington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Covington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Covington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Covington. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
