“Crystal was great! Our dog loved staying with her. He came home happy and healthy! Crystal is very communicative and you can tell from the moment you meet her she is a genuine dog lover!”

“If Teddy could type, he’d be writing this himself. He told me all about how spoiled he was while I was away—daily walks, meals served on-time, and even playdates with their sweet golden retriever (apparently his new best friend). I also loved getting the daily photo updates, though Teddy insists they didn’t capture his best angles. He came home happy, tired, and maybe just a little disappointed to leave. I couldn’t have asked for better care for my pup—Teddy says 5 paws out of 5! 🐾”

“I am so grateful to have found Amber to take care of my baby when we leave town! Willow loves to play with her dogs and loves having someone to snuggle with all day and night. I couldn’t be happier to have found such a reliable and loving Rover home!”

“Super friendly, beautiful home on top of it all has frenchies. So very knowledgeable about this type of breed. Next vacation I will be using her. Was updated everyday about my Berkie and didn’t have to worry about my fur baby, thank you so much”

“Our Zoey had a terrific time with Melissa! Will be happy to have her care for our BABY again. Did not know a tip was to be given on your site, and was left with her when we picked up Zoey.”

“I had previously only had amazing experience, in light of recent experiences they will be the only sitters I trust to care for my pup. They went above and beyond for me on limited notice due to a family medical emergency. They provided myself and my family with such relief during a traumatic experience and I can never fully thank them.”

About: With 11 years of hands-on experience caring for both my own pets and others’, I specialize in cats and dogs — I know how to read their body language, keep them comfortable, and stick to their routines. Since I work from home, your pet gets consistent attention throughout the day, not just quick check-ins. And because I don’t have other pets in my home, your pet gets my full, undivided attention — no competing for space, food, or affection with a resident animal. Pet care fits naturally into my everyday life, not just around it. My work is flexible, so I’m either home or able to come back frequently throughout the day — your pet won’t be left alone for long stretches. I’m available all seven days of the week, so there’s no gap in coverage between weekdays and weekends. Boarding • Your pet stays in my home with no other pets competing for attention. I keep feeding and routines on schedule, and since I work from home, someone’s around for most of the day. Drop-ins • I follow whatever routine you’ve set — feeding, medication, fresh water, litter box or potty breaks, and playtime — with a photo update after each visit. Walks • One walk a day, paced to your pet’s comfort level, on-leash and supervised the whole time. I pay close attention to their cues, especially with cats and small-to-medium dogs, where I have the most hands-on experience. House-sitting • I usually do NOT stay at clients homes overnight or for extended periods during the day! • I will check in with your pets in the AM/PM (as needed) and follow their routines so their schedule is consistent, and provide photos throughout the stay. *Every visit ends with a photo, so you always know your pet is happy and cared for.
“Our pup came back happy and exhausted after his stay with Erin. He is certainly enjoying his new home away from home!! We love all of the photos and updates she sends while we are away missing our sweet boy.”

“Jonathan and Kera were great when watching Albert! They sent me lots of pictures and updates! They were very helpful in keeping up with Albert’s allergy medications and making sure he was comfortable! Definitely will book with them again!”

“Savannah was great with my dog, Deluca! It seemed like he had a great time, and she was so sweet with him. She gave me updates and was very communicative! I would definitely book again!!”

“We have been boarding our two dogs with Patricia and her family for just over a year now. We are so happy to have someone we trust watching our fur babies! Patricia understands our dogs’ different needs and preferences (one is a Velcro dog and one likes to hide), and she provides them with what they need. They are always happy to go to her house, and they always look happy in the daily pictures! Thank you for another great stay!”

“Autumn was great with our black Lab for a long weekend away. She sent updates with pics and videos. I felt like she spoiled our dog with lots of love and attention! Easy drop off and pick up. She definitely cares for your pet like they were her own.”

“Jennifer and her beautiful family were amazing with Mylow! She provided daily updates and pictures while we were on vacation. Her family loved on our dog like he was their own. Pick up and drop off were seamless and you could genuinely see and feel Jennifer’s love for animals. Mylow came home one happy dog. We will definitely use Jennifer in the future. Thanks again Jennifer! 💜”

About: I have experience with small and large dogs. I have grown up with dogs in my family and have learned the needs that are specific to certain breeds. I have walked Morkies, Boxers, Rottweilers, Black Labs, Havanese, and many other breeds of dogs. I can handle energetic puppies and dogs since I have had experience with them in the past. I have walked small dogs and large dogs for other families before. I also enjoy taking the dogs I have or watch to the dog park to play fetch or play with other dogs in a leash-free setting. I also have some experience training my own dogs and tips I have picked up along the way for certain dog behaviors. I can handle baths and light grooming if needed. I work from home a large chunk of the week, so I have a flexible schedule that allows me to feed, walk, and care for your pet(s) as needed! I have a sweet 7 year old pup and 6 month old pup that can keep your pup company if staying with me! Otherwise, I can watch your fur baby at your home with no issues! I can also crate and reinforce their training if needed!
“Wallie came home tired from his long weekend stay with Amanda and her dogs! I originally picked her because she was close to where I live but I would choose her again even if I lived further. Was provided plenty of photos and am confident that my dog was happy and healthy in her care.”

Mallory was an amazing dog sitter! Her communication was great, and she consistently sent me pictures and updates throughout Millie’s stay. As someone who is constantly worried about her pup when she’s away, the updates gave me so much peace of mind. I had such a great experience with Mallory and felt completely comfortable knowing Millie was in good hands. I would definitely recommend her and would absolutely book with her again! 🐾💕

Samantha was amazing with Nala! She watched her for us this weekend and kept me updated the entire time, which gave me so much peace of mind. I really appreciated the updates and knowing Nala was being well taken care of. We will definitely be booking with Samantha again soon! ❤️🐾

Olivia is so attentive and thorough with care instructions, has a beautiful back yard that my dog loved, and has a genuine love for animals that I could understand from our first meeting. My dog came home happy and freshly exercised, so I was able to relax immediately. Thank you Olivia!

Gabby and her family did an excellent job caring for and looking after Cooper for a night and day. They provided ample stimulation through backyard activities with other dogs and children. She sent nice videos/photos of Cooper letting me know he was doing okay and was timely in her communications. I would definitely go back again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
