“We had a fantastic experience with our Rover sitter, Mallory! Communication was excellent from start to finish, and we really appreciated the frequent updates, photos, and messages while we were away. It was clear that our dog was receiving lots of attention, care, and affection. The biggest compliment we can give is that our dog came home calm, relaxed, and happy, a sure sign that he felt comfortable and well cared for during his stay. We felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands. We would absolutely book with Mallory again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive sitter.”

“We appreciated Kristen's openness and ability to meet us before our pups stay. She was amazing with our girls! We got texts, picts, and videos while we were away. She was super responsive to our texts and made us feel comfortable leaving our pups with her. We will definitely book with Kristen again!”

“If Teddy could type, he’d be writing this himself. He told me all about how spoiled he was while I was away—daily walks, meals served on-time, and even playdates with their sweet golden retriever (apparently his new best friend). I also loved getting the daily photo updates, though Teddy insists they didn’t capture his best angles. He came home happy, tired, and maybe just a little disappointed to leave. I couldn’t have asked for better care for my pup—Teddy says 5 paws out of 5! 🐾”

“Amanda and Rae, along with their entire family, did a great job with my puppy! It was a smooth process and she had the best time. The pictures and communication I got throughout the stay was wonderful :)”

“Sydni is hands down, one of the best sitters I’ve ever had for Theo! He always has such a good Time with her and her children, and they treat Theo the same way I treat him at home. She is my go to person when I need to board Theo or when I want him to be socialized with other people and dogs. 10 out of 10 would recommend.”

“An amazing experience. I have two high energy dogs that can be a little much sometimes (but well behaved). Lucie was comfortable with them from the start and seemed to know instinctively how to work with them. My dogs had a wonderful time staying at her house for the week we were out of town. Her dogs were very welcoming and playful. We look forward to leaving them with Lucie in the future.”

“My dogs loved it at Elizabeth's! Every photo she sent they were either happily playing or totally relaxed(and the puppy can be a crazy demon at times). The older one has a bit of anxiety at times but she was at ease with Elizabeth. She was also responsive and accommodating. I would board with her again for sure!”

“Danielle was willing to take our puppy last minute on a Holliday and took him to play on the farm. She did a great job communicating how our dog was doing. Our little Border Terrier came back happy as can be. I can't say enough good things. Even though it's a bit of a drive from where I live, I'll see if Danielle is available from now on when we need a dog sitter.”

“This was our first time using Rover so I wasn’t sure what to expect or how our dog would do. Bodhi spent 5 days with Stephanie and she was amazing! She sent pictures and updates. We would definitely send Bodhi back the next time we head out of town.”

“Anja was fantastic with our yellow lab and took such good care of her while we were gone. She communicated daily and sent pictures and videos. She was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond. Absolutely recommend her as a dog sitter!”

“Amy was amazing! She took time to play and care for our dog during their stay. She kept me informed and sent some really amazing video and pictures. She is truly gifted with animals!”

“I am so happy to have found Melissa. She has a back yard, toys, and children who all greatly enriched my dogs’ stay with them. I left my dogs for a whole month, and she sent me pictures of them every week. I am so happy that I chose to board with her.”

About: My mom started fostering dogs when I was 2 years old, so I've been taking care of dogs my whole life! I would love to help you take care of your dog(s)! I also have experience using various no-pull harnesses and gentle leader head collars for larger dogs. I have no qualms about taking care of "controversial" breeds such as Rottweilers, Dobermans, or Pit Bulls. I'm available for morning, evening, and weekend check-ins. I'm perfectly comfortable and experienced at administering oral medications and/or taking care of senior dogs and cats. I have a fenced-in yard for frequent potty breaks and play time. Adult pets must be spayed/neutered to stay at my home. I try to keep my Rover calendar up to date so you can see when I'm available! Please reach out for any specific dates needed! Boarding: I treat your dogs like my own! They get to play outside and sleep on the furniture with my dog! I'll feed them per your schedule! Absolutely outstanding service above and beyond. Was traveling and needed last minute puppy sitter. She graciously agreed to help me out on extremely short notice. She has the sweetest little doggies of her own which kept my puppy company 💕 even though he had to stay in kennel (my requirement) he could still see and interact with them. Can not express enough how accommodating she was. Wonderful Doggy Mom. My puppy loved her immediately. Highly recommend and will Absolutely be using her again if ever needed. Awesome experience 10 stars !!!!!!!

Gabby and her family did an excellent job caring for and looking after Cooper for a night and day. They provided ample stimulation through backyard activities with other dogs and children. She sent nice videos/photos of Cooper letting me know he was doing okay and was timely in her communications. I would definitely go back again.

Victoria provided daily pictures and info on how Ruby was doing I enjoyed and appreciated the info. Ruby came home happy and her usual self tired from playing with her new friends. it was a relief leaving her with someone who loved dogs. This was a great experience for Ruby and us

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
