“Frida took such good care of our Lucy! She updated us frequently with pictures! It was so great to know she was getting spoiled and cuddled while she stayed there. Would definitely recommend Frida for exceptional care and love for your pet while you are away!”

“We had the most pleasant experience! This was our first time ever using Rover, and they made it such a positive one. They kept us updated throughout the day with pictures and videos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious that our dogs were receiving lots of love and attention! We honestly felt like they were being spoiled the entire time! They truly went above and beyond for our pups and treated them as if they were their own. Their care, communication, and kindness made all the difference, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend them and would absolutely trust them with our dogs again. ❤️🐾”

“Torey did such an amazing job watching my dog, Lily. Lily is 12 years old and has never been boarded with anyone but family. Torey instantly put us at ease about leaving her for the weekend. Lily came home happy and yet excited to see us. Torey also went over and above by offering to watch my sister's dog last minute. Lola has anxiety issues and also came home happy. What a wonderful experience with Torey! I have already booked for another trip next month! Beth”

“We can not be more pleased with how much Love Dara showed our Geriatric Deaf Boxer. Everyday she would send pictures and updates. Will definitely use her for every sitting need. Our pup can't wait to visit again.”

“Bailey loved staying with Sarah and Jason! We loved receiving photos and videos of their adventures and updates throughout the day. Taking her on walks is such a bonus and so glad she could feel like part of their family for the weekend. Thank you so much!”

“My two fur babies loved staying with Susan and her friendly handsome dog, Norman. This was the first time we had Susan watch them and it was for 10 days. Susan sent pictures every day and I swear the pups were smiling in every picture. There were even pictures of my pups sleeping and cozied up to her dog. I will definitely be using her again as I feel confident they are getting great care and more importantly a lot of love...”

“Brittany was so good with my dog! He had so much fun at their house and I got tons of pictures of my dog having fun! I also had a family emergency that extended my trip and she was so flexible with my dog staying longer”

“My goodness is Amanda handy with a camera! I could practically hear Frida in the pictures Amanda sent while we were away. Frida is happy and fit; we can totally recommend working with her.”

“I had Jennifer keep my little guy over night, and want to say that she is just the person for the task. She loves dogs, and I knew she’d take care of him like her own. And upon pick up he was happy and taken care of! Thanks Jennifer!”

“Emily did a great job, with lots of updates and pictures during our trip. Was definitely better than leaving our dog at the vet or a kennel. Highly recommended and would definitely use again!! Thank you, Emily!!”

“Bailey was great! I have a 9 month old labradoodle with a lot of energy which could potentially overwhelm some but Bailey handled it very professionally. I think my pup wanted to stay with her when I came to pick her up so she must have really enjoyed her time. Leading up to the stay Bailey was great at communicating and asked some questions regarding care that I hadn't even thought of. While I was on my vacation Bailey sent pictures and kept me updated regularly on how my pup was doing. I would highly recommend Bailey for anyone looking for a sitter!”

“I really can’t express how wonderful Alan and Casey were with my French Fry! She actually whimpered as we were driving away from their house when I picked her up so she clearly is in love with them. They were great with communications and sending me updates with pictures. They were even flexible on times for me to pick up and drop off and were so great about me adding an extra day to her stay last minute. All this is just to say if you book with them you will not be disappointed, my dog is my world and they took the stress right out of my weekend away!”

“Cheryl is amazing! I was traveling from out of town and my dog can be slow to warm up but Cheryl made it very comforting and is great at communicating. She has two dogs who are fun sweeties! I would highly recommend and even return again. She’s is a dog person and makes her own dog treats, very caring pet owner/caretaker!”

“Stephanie and her family were so good to our boy! She sent me regular updates and photos to let me know he was doing great and getting along with her dogs and kids. She even washed his food and water bowls for me. Great communication about pickup and drop off. Remus will definitely want to go back!”

“Jonathan and Kera were great when watching Albert! They sent me lots of pictures and updates! They were very helpful in keeping up with Albert’s allergy medications and making sure he was comfortable! Definitely will book with them again!”

“This was my first time boarding Henry with Melissa and it was a great experience. She was so accommodating and loving of Henry. She’s definitely an animal lover. Great communication with me as well. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
