“Omg Amy is the best! She was so caring for my puppy and I absolutely felt like he is at home. He was well taken care of. I really really love the way she paid attention to detail and also sent me pictures and videos from time to time. Will work with her again!”

“I can’t speak highly enough about Shalyn, Joe, and their family. We went away for an extended period of time and were adamant about finding the perfect dog sitter for our girl Lucy, and that’s exactly what we found. From the moment they took her in, they made Lucy part of their family. Not to mention, she found a new best friend in their German Shepherd, Sadie. Every single day, I received photos and videos of them playing nonstop. It was incredibly heartwarming, and I couldn’t have been happier knowing Lucy was in such loving and capable hands. Just to put things in perspective, Shalyn, Joe, and family are about a 40 minute drive from our home, but they will always be our go to whenever we need care for Lucy. Thank you so much for everything. You are sincerely the best.”

“Miriam & Terrell were the absolute best! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. First time leaving my pup for more than just a few days & they gave me daily updates & lots of pics! 1000/10 thank you so much!”

About: I have a ton of experience pet sitting and checking in on pets throughout the day as well as dog walking. I also have a lot of experience working with senior aged animals. I am very confident in my skills and would love the opportunity to help out anyone who needs it. I am super flexible with hours and always available. I am currently on summer break from school so right now I have all the time in the world. Once September starts I will have to go back to school but I only have a few classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so I would only be away from, the animals for two hours at most. Caring for pets in their home is my preferred way to do it because they are familiar with the environment. I have experience watching pets in all types of and different types of outdoor access. So even if there is no screened in fence, I am able to deal with that.
About: Available to serve your best friend with a nightly walk, drop-in or doggie day care services! My husband and I absolutely love dogs and have been around them our whole life. We currently have one dog (our baby!) and always want to ensure that he receives the best care when we are out of town or at work - we want to be sure the same is done for your fur children! We know pets are family and you can trust that your babies will be cared for with great love, compassion, and safety. We are our family and friends' right hand when it comes to pet-sitting- we have experience with dogs of all sizes and cats. We are available most weekends and I am off a few days during the week. We can also provide drop in services/walks on weekends and after 5p on weekdays. We are happy to customize your pet's experience in your home, depending on your pet's needs. If your pet is staying with us, we’ll make sure they are comfortable and safe! Our home offers a great space for furry friends! We allow our fur friends on furniture & love to go outside. We will follow your routine to ensure we reinforce positive habits.
“Amazing dog sitter! She sent a bunch of pictures of my dog during his stay and took him on some really nice walks. He seemed really happy when I picked him up. Definitely recommend!”
About: I started dog sittng in college for my professors and quickly grew to love it. I've gained experience walking, feeding, and caring for dogs, and I bring these skills to my own pets as well. I'm excited to provide the same care and attention to your dog while you're away. I work from home, so my schedule is flexible and I can accomodate your need. I also offer pickup and drop-off services for a small fee. I have a fenced yard providing a secured space for your dog to play and relax. I also have a senior male Australian Shedperd who loves to play with other dogs, so your pet will have a friendly companion during the stay.
About: Animals keep my world turning. As a kid I have always been so interested in animals, and before we had our family dog, I was babysitting neighbors' guinea pigs, lizards, cats, fish, turtles, and dogs. I even have a small amount of experience working with horses! The squirrels around town make me so happy, and I would love to share that same energy with your pet. Every animal has its own needs, quirks, and way of communicating, and I love and respect that. I would love to get to know your pet so that they feel safe with me, as well as understand your needs, rules and boundaries as the pet owner. Your pet is in safe hands, so you can focus on what you need to keep your world turning too. Additionally, I am a college student working towards a B.A. of Art, and I have an Associate of Science degree. I can be flexible, especially with intent to find repeat pet parents whose animal(s) I care for. I have courses Monday through Thursday, and I do have some flexibility with my afternoons at times. As an art student, I can bring my work with me, meaning it is not likely difficult for me to spend time at the pet's house, especially as the weather gets colder. I often have lots of flexibility on Fridays, and I am happy to discuss more, again, especially if you are looking for a repeat sitter. I do not have any pets of my own. I live on the second floor of an apartment building, with easy access to outside via stairs, or a slightly further away elevator. I can and do keep my house clean, and would keep the pet in the main room with my supervision. My building has an extremely large yard as well as a very long grassy path, both to play and take more comfortable walks for Puppy's feet. If there is a pet in my vicinity, I cannot take my attention away, so trust we would have a fun day together. Other important notes: - I have a vehicle I can rely on for transportation of myself as well as pets - I do NOT have a kennel or crate for dogs/pets - I do NOT have a carseat or harness for dogs/pets - I do NOT have toys or food. *I will gladly come your way, or bring your pet my way. I just ask that anything important such as food, favorite toys, and any equipment is available for the pet to use while I am sitting them. I do have water, of course!
“Great hosts and couple! They took Dexter in on such short notice with welcoming Arms. Definitely going to reach out to them in the future when we’re out of town. Thank you so much!”

“Maria was absolutely amazing! From the moment we dropped our dog off, we knew he was in great hands. She took him on long, enjoyable walks and kept us updated with pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind. Maria was incredibly responsive and clearly treated our dog with so much love and care. He came home happy, well-exercised, and clearly adored his time with her. We are so grateful and would absolutely trust her again in the future!”

“Gavin was very patient , kind and understanding of my crazy schedule for this weekend and also my first time pet parent anxiety, and my dog loved being in his carelol I would gladly book with him again!”

“Jill and her family are amazing!! This was the first time I used rover and Sammy had a blast. Jill is prompt and goes above and beyond. She sent updates and pictures. Sammy really enjoyed her stay and she cannot wait to visit again ?.”

“Susan and her husband were great pet sitters. Seth loved them and their property. She kept in contact with us for the time she had Seth with texts and pictures. I will definitely use her again.”

“Wonderful experience for both us and our dog. She was kind and welcoming making our girl feel right at home. She also was a wonderful communicator. Her picture updates and videos made me feel at ease while we were out of town. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Geraldene!! Her care and compassion for our Luna was top notch!! Highly recommend!”

“She is so kind and patient with our dog! We knew she was the right one as soon as I saw the house skies in the pictures as we have a Husky. We would highly recommend her!”
“Julia was absolutely a dream! She took such incredible care of our Weimaraner, Mozzie. Great communication, great photos and she made sure he had his own vacation while we were away! 10/10 and will rebook again!”

“Penelope had a wonderful stay for the week. She was very well cared for, happy, and comfortable the entire time. Communication was great throughout the stay, and it was clear Penelope was treated like part of the family. I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter”

“Becca took great care of Avery. She's a very energetic terrier with "little dog" syndrome and I worry about how well she will get along with larger dogs. Becca had the foresight to have a separate room prepared for Avery's meals, so there wouldn't be any altercations over mealtime, allowed the two dogs to get acquainted under supervision so they could set their own boundaries, then kept in touch with me & sent pictures to show the two dogs playing happily together. Avery came home happy & well loved and I was able to relax and enjoy my cousin's wedding. All in all a great experience.”

“Barbara and her sons was great. I would receive pictures daily and knew she was in good hands, just the way she looked. Miss Molly will enjoy again going back there when I need to go out of town, Thanks again, Jodi”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
