About: I grew up with dogs as family pets and have always considered myself a “dog person.” My family had a sheepdog, a black lab, and a Scottish sheepdog, which helped shape my lifelong love for animals. About 30 years ago, I met my wife, a true cat person through and through, and over time I happily transitioned into becoming a devoted cat lover as well. Over the years, my wife and I have shared life with three cats, even taking them on leash walks around the neighborhood—yes, I am proudly that person now. Bella, my 18-year-old super senior cat, just lost her struggle with kidney disease and we miss her dearly. My wife and I spoil our animals all the time. Our cats have always been like children to us and the bonds we build with our animals over the years have been deeply meaningful. I believe animals teach unconditional love, friendship, and have a beautiful way of offering comfort exactly when it’s needed most. In addition to caring for my own pets, I have spent years looking after neighbors’ chickens, rabbits, dogs, cats, hamsters, and even a rat! After 13 years of teaching English at a nearby Early College, I recently retired from education and am excited to begin this new chapter with Rover. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. When I am not caring for animals, I run a professional mountain biking guide service in Asheville called Pisgah Mountain Bike Adventures. With more than 40 years of passion for mountain biking, being outdoors and in the mountains is where I feel most at home. I also run an Airbnb in our finished basement and I am currently writing a memoir. About: I have been a veterinary nurse at an AAHA accredited hospital for the last 6 years, and prior to that, worked at an additional hospital as well as a pet store with exotics. I am more than comfortable administering any method of medication, and taking care of your medical needs, special needs, or senior fur babies. I own two friendly dogs, two sassy cats, and a baby ball python myself- variety is the spice of life. If you’re looking for a medically experienced caretaker for your kids, I’m your gal! *also have grooming experience with medical needs animals I just moved to the Asheville area, so Im excited to explore around. About: First and foremost, I absolutely adore animals! Even as a kid, I would only accompany my mother to visit her friends, who had dogs or cats in their home. I appreciate, respect, and can relate to the bond humans have with their pets. They are very much family and there's nothing more satisfying than seeing your fur baby comfortable, relaxed, and content, in our home or yours, while you're away. We only board 2 dogs at a time, to ensure a quiet, calm, and more relaxing stay, and have a large fenced in backyard for playtime. Dogs staying with us must be house trained. We also have a cat, who loves to play with dogs, so to ensure his safety, any dogs boarding with us must be cat friendly. Some of my previous work experience includes 4 years as a veterinary assistant and I'm comfortable with administering medication, if needed. I have dog training experience and have even trained two of our own to become registered therapy dogs. Together, we serve our community by providing pet therapy in shelters for domestic violence victims, assisted living facilities, our local university, in elementary schools, and wherever she's needed. I currently work with German Shepherd Rescue organizations, assessing temperaments/behavior, conducting home visits, and fostering. We live near the airport, which makes it ideal for dropping off and picking up when traveling for work or going on vacation. Several of my clients leave their babies with us when leaving the country. In addition to dog sitting for many friends and family members over the years, I've also taken care of cats, horses, goats, and even iguanas! I can't wait to provide extra love, play time, and affection for your fur baby, too! I work from home and we have one dog and a cat. I closely supervise any dogs that are our guests here and can provide potty breaks as frequently as needed. Any pets staying with us are supervised inside and out. Our yard is large and fenced in, so it's a great place for play sessions. For drop in visits, I customize it to the owner's wishes and dog's needs.
