“Rhiana has watched my girls several times when we go out of town and always does a phenomenal job! I feel so much better leaving knowing that she’s coming to check on them. One of my girls has some behavioral issues and she’s always so mindful and accommodating with her. Can’t wait to have her watch our girls again!”

“My dog had such a great time with Bertie while I was on vacation, she probably didn’t even notice I was gone. Seeing the pictures of their day together made me happy and I will rebook in the future!”

“Karlee was awesome! She left the most detailed notes and photos that I've ever seen from a sitter, and she was incredibly personable and warm. Definitely glad we found her to care for our kitties and wouldn't hesitate to book her again.”

“Tracy was so great with meeting my pup! She spent so much time and careful questioning to make sure she had all of the necessary information to take care of him. I feel very, very confident in recommending her to others.”

“edie was perfect for our needs! It was our first time leaving our feral siblings alone after adopting them a year ago. She followed all instructions perfectly and asked questions as needed. I was surprised and pleased to see that both cats came out to greet her during her visits! We will definitely use her again whenever possible.”

“Megan is very professional and caring. My cats warmed up to her quickly, and she took daily photos to send with her daily updates. I am 100% pleased and will call on her again.”

“I highly recommend Jordana! She was prompt with every visit, followed all instructions perfectly, communicated with us every day, left no messes behind, and our pups LOVED her immediately. We will definitely hire her again.”

“Emily took great care of Leo and Joey while we were gone. Great communication, professional, and was very kind to our guys. Highly recommend and will use her again!”

About: I've loved dogs since I was a child. I got my first dog walking/sitting job when I was 13. I actually started a business in my neighborhood for it. I had my own slogan and everything. I have trained one of my friends puppies before. I taught her how to sit, lie down, and stay. I got my first dog in 2020 as a foster. We decided to ultimately adopt him. He is leash reactive dog and has a little anxiety. I understand that some dogs just can get close to other ones. I wish I could foster another dog but I am looking forward to volunteering more at the shelter we got him from and spending time with your dogs! I am a college athlete so I have practice and lift 4x a week. These time are flexible though. I am in college and am trying to make some extra money. I hope to make sure your dogs feel as loved as they can because I know I will be making sure my dog feels loved when I do see him. I make sure that your dog is always under my supervision to make sure he/she doesn't get into trouble. I will clean up after the dog and make sure your house stays tidy. Your dog will always feel loved when I am in your home. If they are required to be in a crate when I leave or not in a certain room, I will make sure of that.
“Rita was amazing! She got my shy cat to come out of his shell with strangers! They were besties by the end of the visit. So grateful to have had her as a sitter!”

“Ed was extremely kind, and took such good care of our boys while we were out of town. We were first time Rover users and he completely put our mind at ease about the whole process. Check-in reports, and pictures were fantastic. We would not hesitate to hire him again in the future. Thank you Ed!”

“Abigail is an excellent pet sitter and I strongly recommend her. I felt very comfortable with Abigail coming into my home to care for my cat. She is a kind hearted and caring person who genuinely loves pets!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Charlottesville
Emily is fantastic! She is loving, responsive, caring and goes above and beyond to support my Mom with her cat. My mother has so mobility limitations so having Emily come in once a week to help her with her cat has meant to world to all of us. Thank you, Emily!

Lissette was fantastic! First time using the rover app due to an extended trip and I wasn’t sure what to expect. She was very kind and walked me through the process during the meet and greet. It was such a relief knowing my little one was taken care of while we were out. Lissette had excellent communication throughout the week while I was gone and overall it was a great experience!

Samantha takes excellent care of our animals. She took the time to stop by before the visit, learn all of the idiosyncrasies of our furry companions, and she is very personable. We feel very comfortable trusting our animals with her and already plan to use her again.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
