“I trusted Aly as soon as I met her. She proved completely worthy of that trust. Her focus was entirely on the my dogs and their quirks and their needs. I was able to get through a very difficult weekend and never once worried about my dogs’ wellbeing or comfort. 10 out of 10 I would recommend Aly to take care of your beloved pets.”

“Alexia and Jayden were excellent with our very special babies! We have a senior Lab and a 2 year old Lab, so two completely different temperaments. Alexia and Jayden kept me updated pretty regularly, on my dogs eating and activity level by sending photos and videos of them. Coming home my dogs were very relaxed, happy and safe! Which is the most important thing!”

“Heather was an amazing house sitter for my 2 dogs. One is an older dog and another a 7 month rambunctious puppy. She was able to relate to each and provided equal attention. I was especially concerned because I had never been away from my puppy but she provided reassurance with lots of hugs and letting him frolic in the yard along with his older brother! I received multiple daily updates and she was even able to do a few dog lessons! I can’t say enough about Heather and will absolutely book her again!”

About: Hi, I'm restarting my animal care business. I want to ensure a stimulated experience with a swift pace and consistent disciplined walking style of what I like to refer to as "nose to toes," where the dogs stay no further than my toe, to my sides, or behind me. I also have experience with aggressive dog behavior, so if a single walk is necessary, I can do that. I have been in the animal care business for as long as I can remember, and I know Fairlington very well since I grew up here. I now live in Harper's Ferry in West Virginia. I will be able to track my walks with a phone app that will track your dog's walking pace, distance traveled, and the route we take. I usually do pack walks of 3-5 dogs depending on size, but I can do singles if needed. I'm also able to cat-sit/dog-sit and care for exotics and birds (no insects). I'm flexible because I have my own cleaning/organizing/declutter business. I wake up however early dog might need be let out or pet given meds, and give at least 3 long 30min-hour walks depending on the energy level and few let outs throught the day if needed for young pups or older if bladder is sensitive. Plenty of loves and can work on training or stimulated play time with toys and puzzles. I will be professional and not have any guests over ever, and always keep doors locked when not there and if plants need care I can help with watering. I have 4 animals myself so it's pretty automatic to just add another pet cuz I've cared for multiple animals at a time or drop in visits when needed throughout my day. Whatever the fmaily requests for schedule when to feed, medicate(if needed), amount of walks and play time needed to make sure they're healthy and stimulated. Whenever they're ready for bed, crate if needed requested by parents, and make sure they go outside(dogs) to ensure no accidents throughout the night. I give them just as much love and attention and play as my own. And feed round same schedule unless instructed otherwise. Giving exercise and play time when needed. And kept to routine of crating if owners instruct.
“Charles is awesome. He is sooo generous with meeting me and Woody before my trip. Charles was excellent with giving me an update during his stay at my house with Woody.. Woody loved Charles & they got along fantastic. I would recommend Charles to anyone with a pet! He was extremely respectful of my house, generous with his time & Woody loved him. There is a 💯 % I will ask him to watch Woody again!”

About: I’ve owned German Shepherds my whole life and have over 10 years of hands-on dog care. I’ve cared for breeds of all sizes and personalities through feeding, walking, playtime, grooming, and sticking to their daily routines. I treat every dog like family, making sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. I’m currently unemployed and actively looking for my next opportunity, which gives me a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to focus on pet care. I can be available throughout the week, adjust to your routine, and make sure your pets get steady, attentive care, lots of affection, and consistent updates. I’m really looking forward to dedicating my time to doing what I love most. Giving animals the care and comfort they deserve. I genuinely light up meeting new pets. I can’t wait to learn your fur baby’s quirks and favourite things. I care daily for a long-haired German Shepherd, four cats, fish, and a leopard gecko, so keeping safe setups and sticking to routines is second nature. In your home, I’ll follow your instructions to a T, keep things clean and calm, and send upbeat, regular updates, so you can relax knowing they’re safe, loved, and truly seen.
“We appreciated that she spent time with our dogs and kept them company while we were away. It was clear they were being given attention, which meant a lot to us. However, there were a couple of concerns that are important to mention. We have cameras in our home, which she was made aware of in advance. While most were turned off, we left the front door and one camera in the dogs’ area on. At one point, one of our dogs had an accident in that room. The footage showed that it was seen multiple times but not addressed. I only became aware of the situation after receiving several notifications and had to reach out to ask that it be cleaned. This made me feel that it may have been left unattended otherwise. Additionally, we had left our house key in a lockbox on the door. While the key was placed back inside, the combination was not reset. Since we were out of town, this felt like a safety concern, as it left our home more accessible than we were comfortable with. That said, I’m still giving her 4 stars. I know she’s just starting out, and these are all things that can easily be improved with a bit more experience. Overall, we’re grateful for the care she showed our dogs and appreciate her help.”

“Angie was excellent with our two dogs! She came to meet them ahead of time and learn about their schedules. She was very friendly and communicated well about her visits. She was courteous and very clean when staying at our house to watch the dogs. We loved having Angie care for our two dogs while we were away. Highly recommend!”
“Lydia has been such a joy to work with. She truly loves animals and cares about your pet. She was eager to learn our boy Oscar’s personality and made sure he felt special. She frequently updated us and sent lots of great pics. She was also very respectful of our home. Lydia is kind enthusiastic and very professional. Your fur baby will be in good hands.”

“Our 2 dogs were very happy with Romaine sitting with them at our house and she was great about sending us frequent updates and pictures! We would happily hire her again for future needs!”

About: I've taken care of multiple types of animals over the years! Dogs, cats, birds, bugs, reptiles, rodents, amphibians and fish! Much of my experience comes from working at PetSmart and owning most of these animals myself! I have 2 Rottweiler/Husky mixes, 2 cats, a cornsnake, 5 birds (Sun Conure, Green Cheek Conure, Cockatiel, and 2 Budgies!), 3 axolotls, one tank of Koi and Goldfish, and another tank of tropical fish! I currently work part-time at PetSmart as a pet caretaker! I have Thursdays off, but my work schedule doesn't normally get in the way. I always wait for an animal to greet me first to avoid stressing the pet out. I normally have calming chews and treats on me to try to encourage the animal that I am not a threat.
“Kim was amazing with our high maintenance little dachshund. We are so appreciative of her attentiveness, kindness, and professionalism. Your pup will be in great hands with Kim!”

“Day was very attentive and thorough. She was able to fit me in last minute, and my dogs loved her. She updated me everyday. I highly recommend her and will definitely book with her again!”

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and currently have a 5 year old poochon of my own. Caring for dogs has always been a natural part of my life, and I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pet. Whether it’s overnight care, house sitting, drop-ins, or walks, I’ll make sure your dog receives plenty of attention, affection, and care while you’re away. I am currently in an online grad school program, so my schedule is fairly flexible. Because I complete most of my coursework from home, I have the ability to provide consistent care, attention, and companionship throughout the day. As a dog owner myself, pet care is already a natural part of my daily routine. I believe pets are happiest when their routine stays consistent, so I do my best to follow each owner’s care instructions closely. Whether that means walks, playtime, feeding schedules, medications, or simply spending quality time together, I tailor my care to each pet’s individual needs. My goal is to help pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in their own home while providing owners with peace of mind.
“Lauren was great with our pups! We have three big dogs and she sent updates on each one when she let them and fed them! It made it easier on me being gone knowing they were well taken care of. We came home to three happy dogs!! Will definitely be using Lauren again in the future.”

Very appreciative of her help for not only watching my dog, but also watering my plants and bringing in my mail during an extended trip. Was very flexible with the schedule and any modified changes. Sent messages with pictures and videos showing how things were going with my dog. Thank you, again, Cassidy!

With any pet sitter booking, you want to find someone that is going to care for your pets as if they were their own. Having two dogs of two very different personalities around new people, had my husband and I both wanting to ensure whomever cared for them knew what they were getting into. Charles came by for two different meet and greets which helped ease our minds ten fold. Charles was attentive, patient, and loving with our two dogs. We got photos and updates throughout our vacation from him showing how the dogs were relaxed and at ease while he was staying in our home. 10/10 would rebook with him and recommend him to anyone. Thank you again so much Charles for caring for Jack & Zoey while we were gone. You allowed us the comfort of enjoying our vacation instead of stressing the entire time we were away.

We had an excellent experience with Julie over the Christmas weekend. She took wonderful care of both our dogs and cats and kept our home clean and well-maintained while we were away. One of our dogs was recovering from surgery and required special attention, and she handled his care with great diligence, including treating a hot spot on his paw. It was very reassuring to know our pets were in such capable and compassionate hands. We would absolutely recommend her to other pet owners and would happily book her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Charles Town walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Charles Town maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Charles Town choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Charles Town. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
