We've never been gone from our pets for two weeks before. When our usual pet sitter told us she was unavailable, we were hesitant in finding new ones for such a long trip. Alexia and Jay were incredible. They had the best attention to detail, care, and love for our animals as if they were their own. Day 1, one of our dogs hurt his back legs somehow and they took him to the ER for us just to be sure. Never a complaint once. It was all smooth sailing after that. We got so many pictures and videos multiple times a day. Very responsive and available for any and all questions. They even went above and beyond to reset the house a bit before we came home. They take this very seriously which made our trip much less stressful. Thank you so much! Can't wait to book you again.

Aly was truly amazing. The moment she said my old lady aloof cat had cuddled with her, The stress of leaving my fur kids with someone new melted away. The whole craw absolutely love her and she sent pictures. She just completely put my mind at ease and we’ll be booking with her again.

About: I have been animal sitting for almost 9 years now, starting when I was in high school. I have experience in animal care for multiple species, energy levels, behaviors, ages, and health needs. No task is too big for me, my biggest job was being a sitter for a family of 10 dogs, and a pig! I worked at a nonprofit animal rescue where I learned more about how to care for cats and dogs, and how to gauge their personalities, and energy levels. I am passionate about animal happiness and satisfaction. Right now, I am completely free. I have a car and a valid drivers license. I just moved back home after hiking for 4 months on the Appalachian trail, while walking I had lots of time to think about my passions, and of those are animal welfare, care, and personally staying active and fit! I have two personal dogs, one of which is a senior in hospice care, out of respect for him, I am not taking animals into my home right now. However, any type of drop-ins or house-sitting is on the table. I take direction seriously and can provide medical care, activity, play, feeding, or anything else that is needed for your beloved animal!

About: Hi, I'm restarting my animal care business. I want to ensure a stimulated experience with a swift pace and consistent disciplined walking style of what I like to refer to as "nose to toes," where the dogs stay no further than my toe, to my sides, or behind me. I also have experience with aggressive dog behavior, so if a single walk is necessary, I can do that. I have been in the animal care business for as long as I can remember, and I know Fairlington very well since I grew up here. I now live in Harper's Ferry in West Virginia. I will be able to track my walks with a phone app that will track your dog's walking pace, distance traveled, and the route we take. I usually do pack walks of 3-5 dogs depending on size, but I can do singles if needed. I'm also able to cat-sit/dog-sit and care for exotics and birds (no insects). I'm flexible because I have my own cleaning/organizing/declutter business. I wake up however early dog might need be let out or pet given meds, and give at least 3 long 30min-hour walks depending on the energy level and few let outs throught the day if needed for young pups or older if bladder is sensitive. Plenty of loves and can work on training or stimulated play time with toys and puzzles. I will be professional and not have any guests over ever, and always keep doors locked when not there and if plants need care I can help with watering. I have 4 animals myself so it's pretty automatic to just add another pet cuz I've cared for multiple animals at a time or drop in visits when needed throughout my day. Whatever the fmaily requests for schedule when to feed, medicate(if needed), amount of walks and play time needed to make sure they're healthy and stimulated. Whenever they're ready for bed, crate if needed requested by parents, and make sure they go outside(dogs) to ensure no accidents throughout the night. I give them just as much love and attention and play as my own. And feed round same schedule unless instructed otherwise. Giving exercise and play time when needed. And kept to routine of crating if owners instruct.

I want to be greedy and keep Kourtney a secret…But also go on and on about how amazing she is! This was our first time leaving the girls with someone and we could not have asked for anyone better. She was timely, communicative, and most importantly so kind to our baby dogs (and our home)! You will not regret having her help care for your pups. If we could give 1,000 stars we would!

I can’t recommend her enough! She was absolutely wonderful with my dogs—they liked her right away, which immediately put me at ease. She gave me daily updates while I was away, so I never had to wonder how they were doing. I came home to happy, well-cared-for dogs and a clean house, which was such a nice bonus. She’s reliable, thoughtful, and clearly great with animals. I will definitely be hiring her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy dog sitter!

About: I grew up on a small farm and currently live with one sweet cat and two fun pups! I’ve house sat and worked with a wide range of animals- from dogs and cats to fish and farm animals- often caring for multiple pets at once. I’m flexible, dependable, and always willing to adapt to each pet’s routine and personality. I’ve just finished a work contract and have a flexible schedule for the next few months. I’m available most days and can easily adapt to your pet’s routine! I care for pets in their own home to keep them comfortable. We appreciated that she spent time with our dogs and kept them company while we were away. It was clear they were being given attention, which meant a lot to us. However, there were a couple of concerns that are important to mention. We have cameras in our home, which she was made aware of in advance. While most were turned off, we left the front door and one camera in the dogs’ area on. At one point, one of our dogs had an accident in that room. The footage showed that it was seen multiple times but not addressed. I only became aware of the situation after receiving several notifications and had to reach out to ask that it be cleaned. This made me feel that it may have been left unattended otherwise. Additionally, we had left our house key in a lockbox on the door. While the key was placed back inside, the combination was not reset. Since we were out of town, this felt like a safety concern, as it left our home more accessible than we were comfortable with. That said, I’m still giving her 4 stars. I know she’s just starting out, and these are all things that can easily be improved with a bit more experience. Overall, we’re grateful for the care she showed our dogs and appreciate her help.

Having never been left alone since the passing of her brother (they used to board together in a kennel) we were concerned about what to do with our senior dog, Abby, during a 10-day trip to Europe. We turned to Rover.com since we felt staying in her familiar home would be better and Abby would receive more attention and activity. We reached out to Lauren who got back to us in minutes and arranged an in-home "meet and greet" visit. She and her partner came by to visit and we were immediately impressed with her kind way with Abby, her approach to staying here with Abby, and her experience taking care of dogs. We were very pleased with her care of Abby, the updates she would send us along with photos of Abby were very helpful, and it was nice to know they were all getting along well -- and at the same time, our home was being cared for along with Abby! They had car rides and visits and walks and Abby did very well with her new friends right in her own home. When we returned home, our place was clean and tidy, sheets were washed and folded, Abby was happy and doing well. Our neighbors told us how nice they were and that Abby was happy during her walks. We were very glad to have found Lauren and Ali and would not hesitate to have them stay with our little one in the future! Excellent care and support for our doggie and for us.

Our little old man, who has seemed anxious after we've left him with some dog-sitters in the past, seemed calm and well cared for when we got home. Emelyn promptly sent an update every time I requested one and left our home very neat. She even emptied and refilled the dishwasher and watered the plants on the back porch. I would definitely recommend Emelyn!

With any pet sitter booking, you want to find someone that is going to care for your pets as if they were their own. Having two dogs of two very different personalities around new people, had my husband and I both wanting to ensure whomever cared for them knew what they were getting into. Charles came by for two different meet and greets which helped ease our minds ten fold. Charles was attentive, patient, and loving with our two dogs. We got photos and updates throughout our vacation from him showing how the dogs were relaxed and at ease while he was staying in our home. 10/10 would rebook with him and recommend him to anyone. Thank you again so much Charles for caring for Jack & Zoey while we were gone. You allowed us the comfort of enjoying our vacation instead of stressing the entire time we were away.

FAQs for House Sitting - Kabletown

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 1,732 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kabletown. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kabletown walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kabletown maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kabletown choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kabletown. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
