“Jennifer was awesome checking in on my 2 cats while I was away at a conference. We texted and also spoke via phone about each cat’s need, how they may respond with a new person, and my expectations. She spent the time of the short check in to ensure they were fed, watered, and did play time with them. She also kept me apprised the entire time. I plan to use her in the future and highly recommend her!”

“Alexis is the absolute best! I feel very fortunate that she’s in my area to care for my fur baby! This is the second time she’s cared for Harley and it was for almost two weeks while I was out of town for work. She was super attentive to my cat and my home and I trust her implicitly with my girl. I will absolutely use her services again every time I’m away with out question! She is super respectful, responsive, and trustworthy! You cannot go wrong with hiring her!!!”

“David did an outstanding job taking care of my cat, Jaxson, while I was out of town. He was very communicative throughout the entire stay and regularly sent photos and videos, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while traveling. Jaxson can be territorial and isn't always the friendliest cat with new people, so I was pleasantly surprised to see him playing and interacting with David. That alone tole me a lot about his patience and ability to connect with animals (the cat whisperer). I can tell he loves all animals! David also went above and beyond with the little things. He kept the litter box clean, rinsed out the food cans, left everything neat and tidy, and figured out a few household routines that I forgot to explain. When I returned home, everything looked great and Jaxson was happy and well cared for. I trusted David with access to my home while I was away, and he proved himself to be reliable, thoughtful, and professional. I would gladly hire him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dependable pet sitter.”

“Meghan has been an excellent care giver for our older cat, and it was a comfort knowing that she was experienced with giving medications since our sweet kitty needs a daily asthma pill. Thank you so much, Meghan!”

“Willow and Finn were well taken care of while left alone. I didn’t see evidence of them throwing any parties. Ha. Heather was attentive and communicated during each v. will use again.”

“Disha has taken care of my two cats several times and I trust her with them completely. She maintains contact when I travel and sends update photos. When they first met her, they took to her right away and everytime she takes care of them, I know they will be happy and well taken care of. She also does considerate things like picking up mail/packages and when needed, feeds the fish as well. I feel confident in her judgement and actions in daily care and if an emergency arose. My pets are part of my family and I am careful in my selection of caretakers. I highly recommend Disha! I continue to call on her whenever I need pet care.”

About: Ive taken care of and owned dogs for 20+yrs. I have alot of love to give an will love yours like they are my own. I am currently off for summer break and am available all days and hours. About: My family and I started using Rover in 2018 when our 17-year-old dog, Faith, needed to be watched during the day. Rover helped make our last months with her a little easier and less stressful until she passed away in early 2019. I began to work with Rover myself in 2020 while I teleworked for two years because of the pandemic. Since then, my family and I have welcomed dozens of dogs into our home. Over a year ago, we relocated to Ranson, West Virginia from Fairfax, Virginia and two of our clients often still travel to our new home for us to board their dogs. I am still working full-time but my parents, Carla and Rob, have been providing great service during the day. We only look after one dog at a time, and someone is always with them so you can rest assured that your dog will get the love, care, and undivided attention that he or she deserves. We love all kinds of dogs and will look after yours like it was our own! In fact, this past April my family and I adopted Milo from a family who used to board him with us. They could no longer give him the attention he needed so they reached out to us to make him a part of our family. I work Tuesday-Saturday and am away from home from 5:30am-6:00pm. My mom works from home remotely and my dad retired and provide excellent care and attention during the day. I ensure that your dog gets plenty of love and attention. They have frequent potty breaks and neighborhood walks. I have plenty of dog treats and toys to keep them entertained and occupied.

If you or your pet have any special needs/wants I am happy to keep up your usual routine as needed. :)

As always Alexis is simply the best! I also know my home and fur baby are in great hands with her. I’ve had Alexis care for my cat and home for over two years now and there is no one else I’d trust as much outside of family. She’s reliable, communicates thoroughly, and truly cares for your home and loved ones.

As a pet sitter myself, I’m pretty particular about who I trust with my pets. Catherine took such great care of my cat, Boo, and I’m so glad I chose her. She was attentive, kind, and clearly took the time to understand Boo’s routine and personality. I really appreciated the updates and felt completely at ease while I was away. I came home to a happy, relaxed cat. I’d absolutely trust Catherine again and can highly recommend her.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
