“Cory is matter-of-fact, flexible, and a good energy for our hyper lab mix. We were able to schedule an additional walk during our vacation which we really appreciated. We received updates each time he stopped by. Big fan!”

“I cannot recommend Kassy enough. My dog Roo is very shy and it takes a few extra steps for him to feel comfortable with someone. I am so thankful for her patience with Roo. She truly cares about him as if he were her own and for that, I am so grateful.”

“Nila loved going on a walk with Alexandra and was so happy afterwards! She was flexible even with our last minute request, great at communicating, and understood the differences in dog personalities and how to work with that. Definitely would recommend her!”

“Brad was amazing with our dog! He was incredibly conscious and respectful about maintaining any routines and training we had already established with our dog and was great with our sometimes unruly boy! I was very impressed with how communicative he was and took very well composed and extremely cute photos to send us! I would absolutely recommend Brad!”

“I was able to book Troy on short notice, which was very helpful. He was prompt, friendly, and my dog was instantly comfortable with him. I’d definitely recommend Troy and plan to book him again in the future!”
“She was soo helpful and is so diligent!! Today I was so stuck and I totally wrote my whole calendar day down wrong. She was super flexible and was able to accommodate. I won’t do that often but I’m so grateful”

“This was our first time using Rover and Monica made the process so easy. She sent us notes and lots of pictures at every visit. She took cues from our dog on how far she could walk at each visit depending on the weather and then spent time cuddling our Boston Terrier too (which is just as important for our dog as exercise). We were out of town and never had to worry if things were going well! Our family highly recommends Monica for your pet walking/sitting needs!!”

“Loved using these two as our dog walkers! I did not meet them in person, but the interaction between texts and pictures were very prompt, genuine and kept us up to date with the pups. Thank you again and looking forward to using your services again!”

About: Hi, I’m Carly! I’ve always loved animals and understand how important it is to know they’re safe and comfortable while you’re away. Whether you need drop-in visits, overnight care, or house sitting, I’ll make sure your pets are happy, loved, and your home is well cared for. I’m responsible, communicative, and keep things clean and cozy while you’re gone. My schedule changes a bit week to week, so feel free to message me. I’m happy to find a time that works for both of us! I always make sure pets feel safe and comfortable in their own space. I follow each owner’s routine closely, give plenty of attention, and keep things clean and calm while you’re away.
“Jessica was great! She took time out of her night to come visit Koda the night before she walked him and see how they did with each other! She was also a great walker and was willing to just hang out with him outside of his kennel and play with his toys! We will definitely be going back to Jessica again!”

About: Hello! I’ve taken care of pets my whole life. I’d love to give your pet love, attention, walks, and treats! I am responsible, reliable, and tend to like all animals over most humans. 😀 My schedule is completely open and flexible! Your pet will be my main focus and priority. I’d love to get the opportunity to meet and care for your fur babies. I know how important it is to listen to the animals needs and dietary restrictions. I love playing with dogs in a fenced in yard, long walks with lots of sniffs, and cuddling/loving pets.

About: Hi, I’m Shane! Calm, steady walker who keeps things simple and safe. I’ve spent my whole life around animals, and I’m the kind of person who pays attention to the small things: body language, pacing, comfort, and routine. I like to consider myself patient, predictable, and confident, and that’s exactly how I approach every walk and visit. I’m available throughout the week and flexible with timing. If you want someone dependable who communicates clearly and treats your dog like an individual, I’d love to meet you and your pup! I currently care for multiple dogs and cats at home, so I’m used to feeding schedules, meds, crates, and different personalities. If your dog has special needs or quirks, I’m happy to follow your routine exactly.
About: I have always had pets growing up as a child and my love for them has grown into my adulthood even more. I have a passion for learning and understanding all different types of animals. I’m currently working part time so I have plenty of time to spend with your fur babies! I am available anytime after 10am every day! My apartment complex is very pet friendly! I also live near downtown so the fur babies and I can go on long or short beautiful walks!
About: I’ve been around animals my whole life, of all shapes and sizes. I love all animals. I’ve grown up with working dogs, big dogs, feral cats, farm animals, and everything in between. I am always willing to go for midday lunch walks (in the Ankeny/Polk City area) or weekend check ins in the metro, while you are out and about being social. My husband works blue collar, so sometimes I have a lot of time to myself while he’s working, I’d love to fill in with walks at night or weekends in the Highland Park/Saylor/Beaverdale areas. Some nights he may even join if he’s home. I am always very cautious when going in for my furry friends for walks, making sure they are safe. I’m full of love and attention and energy to burn so I’d love a buddy. I’ve worked with highly trained dogs, and will honor any and all training your dogs follows.
About: I've had a variety of pet sitting experiences since I was in high school and have enjoyed caring for people's pets. Since joining the Rover community, my love and appreciation for pet sitting has grown immensely. I'm engaging with wonderful pets and people of the Des Moines community through pet care. Getting to connect with an animal is very special, and I would be honored to have that opportunity with anyone's pet(s). When I care for your pet, the benefits are going both ways. I will make sure your pet is safe and comfortable while you're away, and in return, I meet a furry friend that brings me to a mindful space. My bachelor's degree in social work taught me the skill that it's important to meet people/animals where they are at. Whatever you as an owner or your pet brings to the table, I will do my best to accommodate and adapt. I will be clear and honest about my skills and limits so you can make sure I am the right fit for your precious pet! I can't wait to chat with you! My full-time job takes place during usual business hours, 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday. I often have the flexibility to work from home for half or full days. If I am required to be in the office, I can coordinate my lunch break in the middle of my workday to give your pet a quick potty break and playtime. In addition to my full-time job, I often pick up winter & summer jobs with Des Moines Parks and Recreation. My current stage in life requires me to work more than one job most of the year (#studentloans). The busy schedule that I maintain has pushed me to perfect my time management skills, and be forever grateful for my google calendar. I appreciate the consistent changing of my work schedules/locations and enjoy the challenge of including your pet’s daily care routine with my own. Most of my in-person jobs have shifts/time commitments of 4-6 hours, but I will communicate my availability to make sure I can cater to your pet’s needs. In your home, I will fulfill the needs of your pets by following the directions given to me during a meet and greet and/or left via note/document. When I meet you and your pet(s), I ask specific questions to better understand their needs, behaviors, habits and physical health. Daily updates with photos can be provided, but I always ask the owner how frequent they would like for me to check-in. When questions or concerns come up during a service, I do not hesitate to contact the owner. Thankfully, Rover requires emergency and vet information from the owner before confirming the booking. In the unlikely case that I cannot get a hold of the owner and I feel the concern is time-sensitive, I will access the emergency resources provided.
“Tori did a great job watching our dog while we were traveling. Our dog really bonded with her. She also left the house clean and tidy. We were able to relax on our vacation knowing our dog was in good hands.”

“Trusting someone with your dog can be hard but Kay-lea has made it very easy. Super friendly and professional! She treats my dog like her own, and that is unbeatable. Highly recommend.”

Carpenter dog parents share their Rover experiences
I had a really great experience with my dog walker Cory There was a small misunderstanding at first because my old address was still on my profile, and he arrived there thinking it was the correct location. Once we realized the mistake, he didn’t hesitate at all—he immediately said he’d head over to my new address. I really appreciated how understanding and flexible he was about the situation. It could have easily been frustrating, but he handled it professionally and made sure my dog still got the walk. Great communication and very kind. I’d definitely recommend him!
