“We are so happy to have found Nadia! With a very anxious little dog who doesn’t like to be left alone it can be hard to get out. Nadia came in with her calm and loving demeanour and Pukki relaxed right away. Nadia knew how to speak to him and connect with him so we could go out without worry. She’s a skilled dog whisperer and a great communicator with dog parents too. We got updates throughout the evening and came home to a happy dog. Your pup will be safe and happy in her hands, can’t recommend her enough!”

“Emily was very flexible and did a great job looking after our fur-baby. She was able to arrange a meet and greet to get to know Dougie before hand and was in communication with us when needed. Can’t wait to have her sit for us again!”

About: I've raised 4 cats and understand that every cat is unique. I'm experienced with multi-cat dynamics, special diets, and recognizing signs of stress or illness. I'm patient, observant, and truly enjoy spending quality time with cats. Plus, I'm great at taking photos of them and sending updates with you! Working from home is perfect for cat sitting - I'm here all day! Your cat will never be alone for long periods. Feeding schedules are easy to maintain, and I can monitor your cat's behavior and well-being constantly. Plus, I genuinely enjoy the company - it's like having my own cats back! Since I work from home, I'm always nearby to monitor their well-being. I send daily photo/video updates so you can see your cat is happy and settled. I live alone in a spacious 2-bedroom apartment, so it's a quiet, calm environment with plenty of room to explore or nap.

About: I've taken care of dogs for the past few years while pet parents are away. I am able to feed, walk and medicate dogs as needed, since I work in the veterinary world. I work full time at a local veterinary clinic 4 days a week, so that leaves 3 full days to cherish and love pets while pet parents are away on vacation. I have lived with cats all my life and have always loved visiting my friends and grandparents dogs whenever I was over there. I have also done some private dog and cat sitting with referrals from friends and family.
“We hired Kiara to sit our 2 dogs over a long weekend. As soon as I met her, I knew she was the perfect person for the job. Kiara immediately showered my dogs with sincere kindness and attention and they loved her back right from that very first moment. It was obvious she genuinely loves dogs. She listened carefully to my care instructions and asked appropriate questions about our pets as well as our home. While we were away, she kept us updated with short videos and photos and reached out to us whenever she needed clarification. She was prompt to reply to any of my inquiries as well. We felt very comfortable with Kiara looking after our dogs in our home. After our trip, we arrived to 2 happy dogs and our house being just as clean and tidy as we left it. In all, I would highly recommend Kiara to care for anyone’s dogs. She is trustworthy, kind and truly caring.”

“Wonderful dog sitter! Kind, reliable, and so caring with our dog. They went above and beyond with walks, cuddles, and lots of love. We came home to a happy, well-cared- for pup and would definitely book with them again!”

About: My experience with pets is from back home in Brazil. I have at home a cat, 3 dogs, a turtle, and a bird (Yeah, a lot I know haha). Of all the pets that I have, I have a special connection with my dogs. They are like my shadow and always wants to stay next to me. I can’t even imagine how they are missing me since I moved to Canada, and I also miss them like crazy. Being a sitter will complete this part that I most miss from home. Im currently working full time during the week. I’m available for drop in’s and walks during the week from 07am to 8am / 05:30pm to 08pm. For house sitting I’m available starting Friday 05:30pm to Sunday 07pm. Message me if you have any questions. I care so much about the attention that is needed to the pets. They are so loyal with us and just wanna feel loved and cared of.
“Gillian is great, our dog loves her so much he doesn’t even act excited when we get back. She always sends lots of pictures of her snuggling him and taking him on walks!”

“Just had our first house sitting with Marie. She was so kind, gentle and attentive to both my dogs and quickly understood and respected their different personalities. Especially towards my recently adopted shelter dog. He needs a little more time to gain your trust and Marie is one her way to earning it ❤️🐶”

“Lauren looked after our 2 cats and 1 pup for 8 days while we travelled abroad for our wedding. This was the first time we had left our animals with someone other than family, and it was a big step for us. Lauren came over for a meet and greet and we also booked her for a 1 night stay a few weeks before leaving. The level of care Lauren provided while we were away for our wedding was outstanding. She was so great with communications, sending us regular updates and a ton of adorable photos everyday! We felt totally at ease on this trip knowing that Lauren was with our animals, and we could tell from the photos that they had absolutely fallen in love with her (even our VERY shy cat!) I highly recommend Lauren’s services. Not only did she take incredible care of our pets, but also of our home which she left spotless. We can’t thank Lauren enough! I know our animals will be looking forward to seeing her again! <3”

About: Many years of experience with many breeds and ages of dogs, cats and horses. I continuously learn about new technics to improve my skills to care, to groom, to train. Currently available during the week for visits, walks and grooming as well as short-term boarding. Prefer well socialized animals so that if I need to walk with several dogs or have a cat and a dog owner needing boarding, the animals can at least live within the same environment. I will walk the dogs on a leash in a safe environment; trail, walkways to ensure minimal interactions. I will let the dog off leash in a dog park if we are by ourselves; this will help at the beginning while we get to know each other and I know the dog is focus on me before introducing his/her to other dogs.
“Luisa was so excellent to work with! She took the time to get to know Mala and her specific needs. Luisa and Mala got along super well because of the patience and care that Luisa took in every interaction. I would absolutely hire Luisa again and highly recommend her to anybody whose dog struggles with reactivity, anxiety, or is a rescue. Luisa clearly has experience in all of those areas and wants to ensure you and your dog are both comfortable at every step. Thanks Luisa for everything!”

“Heaven was wonderful with our Dog Jagger! We came home to a clean house, a happy dog and smiles on our faces. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for in-home pet sitting at their home! She sent multiple updates with photos which reassured us that Everything was going well. Thanks again Heaven ♥️”

Please contact me for your pet care needs. Would love to be your pets new friend. I would take your dog for walks and take care of their needs when in my care. “Sabrina took great care of Sam while we were away overnight to a family reunion! She sent pics periodically to show how he was doing, which eased our minds tremendously. We would ask her again with no hesitation the next time we need someone to watch Sam for us. He is 14 plus years and doesn’t like to be alone. He loved Sabrina and is still looking in the spare bedroom for her at night”

About: I’ve had animals of different kinds all my life. Experience taking care of puppies and senior dogs. Love taking dogs on walks and willing to customize pet care to your dogs needs. I work full time but my work is flexible and allows me to work from home some days. Most weekends are free for me to provide in house sitting, bathroom breaks or walks. I am cautious with dogs on the leash and keep them away from busy streets and make sure they are safe while playing. Depending on the dog, I will also keep them away from other dogs if necessary.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - St. Catharines
Nadia was fantastic and took great care of our two large pups. She was very accommodating for us and flexible. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to adjust our times at the last minute and she was very understanding. She provided daily updates with pictures and videos of the dogs and also left our house very neat and clean and tidy. We highly recommend Nadia, and we'll definitely be using her again.

Amber and Justin took such good care of my pup while I was away. They were able to help me out last minute after my other sitter plans fell through! They were so patient and accommodating with her as she can be a little scared at the beginning, and sent me regular updates to ease my dog momma mind. They also left my place super clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend and book them again.

Keana is hands down the best dog walker/sitter we have ever worked with! She is extremely patient and kind to Pickles and all animals. She made sure that he had everything he needed as well as going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable with the experience. We love her and will be using her anytime we need someone to look after Pickles. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
We and our ‘girls’ love Megan! We’ve had a difficult time finding someone we could trust with the house as well as the girls. Some were better with the house, others with the girls. Megan was the perfect match! We arrived home, back from vacation, with the girls excited and healthy as well as the house being better off than we left it! Megan gave daily updates with pictures, answered any inquiry in a moment, followed feeding instructions and went well beyond everything that was requested. More importantly, things that weren’t expected! Megan lifted every stress off of our shoulders while away! Our girls (especially Tessa) was left looking for her the next day after we returned, and we’re sure they both miss her terribly! We won’t consider anyone else, and hope Megan stops by from time to time to visit until our next booking! Thank you, Megan!

We were so thrilled to be able to go away on vacation and ‘try’ not to worry about leaving Haven - our Standard Poodle rescue with separation anxiety - for a week with Amanda. Haven bonded with Amanda from their first meeting. We were sure Haven would not walk further than ten feet with Amanda, if at all! With patients and many treats! Amanda was able to get Haven walking around our neighbourhood, within a couple of days. Amanda kept us up to date with pictures and texts on how Haven was doing which made us able to enjoy our vacation with much less stress. Thank you Amanda!

Shealin did an amazing job staying with my senior dog and young cat for three nights. You can tell she really loves animals and sent updates showing that my pets were settling in comfortably with a “new” person. Shealin is mature and responsible and very responsive to messages. I chose Shealin as she came recommended by a friend and I would highly recommend her too.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in St. Catharines maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred St. Catharines walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in St. Catharines choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 82% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
