Such a lovely young lady came to my house to babysit my dog. We are very happy to have met Cassandra and will definitely be inviting her back. Punctual -yes, sent pictures - yes (many great photos), lovely personality-yes! Plus lots of play time outside as the weather allowed. Glad to have found you on Rover.

Marie was wonderful. We did a meet & greet prior to vacation and it was obvious she really loves animals. She stayed with our dog Walter for 5 days and he barely even seemed like he missed us lol. She sent daily photos and updates which really helped us put our minds at ease while on vacation. Plus you wouldn’t even have known someone stayed in our house, she didn’t leave a trace.

Emma was great! Took care of our 2 bulldogs and 2 cats for a week while we were on vacation. Dogs loved her, she sent pictures and kept the house in order. Felt secure and safe with her watching over the house and dogs. This is our 2nd time using her, and she is worth every penny! ❤️ Thanks Emma 🙏🫶 Will definitely use ONLY her every time we have to go away. 💕

Lauren is perfection! Our family was lovingly cared for. We only hope she is available for our next long term holiday. I never worried about them. She made us smile with her pictures and commentary. Two young Goldens, a very timid Shilo shepherd and a 16 year old cat can be a lot, but she handled them with professionalism and affection. Thank you so much.

We are so glad to have had Andrea looking after Sully. Although it was short notice, she still took time for a meet and greet. That was appreciated. Andrea came on time and had the dog outside right away. Sully had a walk with her and much play time. She is a lovely young lady whom we hope to see again.

About: Nice to meet you! My name is Chelsea, I am a 32-year-old Law Clerk, looking to make some extra money to save for a house! I am very responsible, reliable, trustworthy, and I absolutely LOVE animals! I have volunteered at the SPCA working with a variety of animals, gaining all the experience that comes along with it. DOGS: I am comfortable with any dog type. Big, small, friendly, shy, energetic, lazy- you name it! I can handle any breed, from a Chihuahua to a Great Dane. I can tire out your energetic pooch, or sit down and relax with your fur baby, and make them feel safe and comfortable. My mother also had her own dog walking business, and I thought that with the experience I gained helping her, I could start to help my local friends in the Niagara Region! CATS: I understand that cats need care tailored to their unique personalities - whether that means quiet companionship, playful interaction, or just sticking to their routines. I'm patient and attentive, making sure each cat feels safe and comfortable in their own space. What sets me apart is my ability to read their body language, respect their boundaries and build trust at their pace, so even shy or independent cats feel cared for. I also have two cats of my own, so I understand their quirks and routines! I do work full-time, so I offer pet care part-time during the evening and weekends. This gives me the perfect balance to dedicate focused, quality time to your pets. I make sure each visit, walk or overnight stay fits smoothly into my routine, so your dog or cat gets reliable, consistent care without me being rushed or distracted. ***If you live close by, I can fit in a lunchtime dog walk/feed between 12-1 or 1-2! *** When I care for pets in your home, I treat it with the same respect as my own. I will follow your routines closely to make sure your dog or cat feels safe and comfortable in their familiar environment. Whether its walks, feeding or crate time, I’ll provide reliable, loving care while keeping your home secure.

About: I have grown up with animals all my life from dogs and cats to reptiles and amphibians! Ever since I was a kid I have been obsessed with dogs and the amazing things they can be trained to do! I pride myself in my understanding on dogs body language and understanding how their minds work! I do currently work full time but I am looking to fill my free time with something I love and that’s spending time with animals! Well I can’t not provide day care or overnight in my home as I don’t live alone, I have a friendly fur baby of my own who loves meeting new friends on walks. I promise to respect your dogs daily routine and rules as I would expect someone watching my dog to do the same as to keep structure in your pets life well you are away as your absence can be stressful to your pet on its own.

About: No request from you is too big!! My husband and I live in the middle of Welland. I started a not-for-profit dog rescue (Red Dog Rescue) from my home. We have saved 500 dogs off the streets of Texas since January 2020 and re-homed them here in Ontario. I left it late 2021 as the stress was too much but I do still foster the occasional dog! We own 5 rescue dogs total: 1. Bulldog (named KD) 2. Beagle (Lucy) 3. Collie (Kody) 4. Husky (Pretzel) 5. Bulldog (Silver) We go for walks, runs, hiking on trails and trips to the park daily! We do not go to dog parks due to the risk of incidents. We believe a tired dog is a good dog. Frozen peanut butter or treats in Kong's are given MINIMUM daily depending on allergies/sensitivities. Our love for these animals is unending and all dog guests are treated like our own. We live a very active lifestyle but are willing to tone it down to care for sick/old dogs as well. Contagious sicknesses however we cannot accept due to the high amount of dogs we have coming and going. We have a private dog area for dogs that are not socialized/aggressive but can only take 1 at a time. All dogs are “puppies” in our house, no matter how old they are. Corey and Robyn are Paramedics however Robyn now works from home while on mat leave, so someone is usually always home. We both know first aid and CPR for dogs, as well as any wound care and are willing to take the dog to a vet of your choice if needed, but are able to determine if the dog needs to go to the closest facility in case of an emergency. We both have experience with pilling animals and treating wounds, as well as we can do injections, first aid and CPR. Robyn worked at a vet clinic for 6 years with cats and dogs. She opened a grooming clinic in the downstairs of the vet. Her motto is “no dog left behind” and people brought the most aggressive dogs to her to be trained how to behave and relax/enjoy grooming. Dogs that other groomers turned away. She taught horseback riding lessons to kids and grew up owning one hundred free range hens. She grew up with family dogs as well. She has experience with zoo animals and reptiles having completed the Animal Care Program at Sheridan College. She also used to volunteer grooming at the SPCA in Hamilton as well. Corey grew up with dogs in his house his whole life. His favorite breed is Boxer, but he loves all breeds. Corey is very active. He does CrossFit and soccer and loves to run, but he prefers to do so with the company of a pooch, big or small. One day we hope to move to Texas to rescue dogs as there is a bad crisis of overpopulation there. We are also learning Spanish, this way when the funding is there we plan to drive down to Mexico to assist with the overpopulation of dogs and educating people about the importance of spaying/neutering their pets. Corey’s parents own three of the dogs we fostered in the past from Texas. We were both shift workers so we are happy to do crazy drop off/pick up times, being available 24/7 for those on night shifts! Give us a chance and we will do what we can to accommodate your pet! :) Big or small we love them all! #nodogleftbehind #spayandneuter #adoptdontshop Robyn is usually home all day as she works from home stepping out every so often for a quick appointment. Corey is home every evening/night and usually does evening walks/feeding. We have a large 6.5 ft solid wooden fenced in yard with patio stones, straw and wood chips to avoid mud! Concrete around the edges to avoid any escaping. Three of our dogs are well socialized and love to play! The other two we keep separate. We have a "cat room" and when the dogs are outside playing the cats roam the home! We rotate dogs/cats all day long when they stay with us to make sure everyone gets an adequate time to play/nap. Our dogs are crate trained but if your dog is well trained we can let them roam the home at night while ours sleep in the "doggie room".

About: Hello 😊 My name is Katrina, and I’ve been caring for animals most of my life. From walking the family dog to providing care for neighbors’ pets while they were away, being around animals has always been a natural and joyful part of my routine. I currently care for two senior Yorkies who are 12 and 13 years old. They’re full of personality and keep me on my toes! I understand the unique needs of pets at all stages of life—from energetic pups to older companions who need a gentler touch. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, feeding, or simply keeping your pet company while you’re away, I treat every animal with the same love and attention I give my own. I’m dependable, respectful of your home, and always aim to make your pet feel safe, cared for, and comfortable while you’re away. I know how important it is to have peace of mind when entrusting someone with your beloved pet—that’s why I keep you updated with messages and photos so you know they’re in good hands. Services Offered: • Dog Walking • Drop-In Visits • Small Animal Care • Senior Pet Support Why Choose Me? • Experience with senior pets • Comfortable administering medication (if needed) • Reliable and communicative • Genuine love and understanding of animal behavior • Flexible availability I am currently working as a part time hairstylist apprentice with a desire to learn more grooming skills. As my pups are getting older, they’re not able to keep up with my daily walking schedule and I miss the companionship. I’m hoping to bring joy and happiness to your furry friends day by caring for them just as you would 🤍 I do not care for pets in my home as I rent and do not have a backyard. I also cannot do home stays as I have my own two dogs who go everywhere with me. I only provide walking services and home visits for both cats and dogs. Thank you!

About: I had a senior dog in my early teens that I cared for regularly. After our senior dog passed, our family began fostering through Bruno Project, a non profit dedicated to fostering and adopting dogs from St Lucia. We did that for a few years and I was a primary caretaker. There I learned how to care for dogs that may be scared and skiddish. A few years into doing this, we found out now adopted dog of three years. I would regularly visit my parents to care for this dog. I learned everything from potty training to enrichment to feeding routines and caring for their fur. I take pride in the ability to be attentive to each pet’s needs. I regularly visit my parents house where we have our three year old rescue that I take care of when I am there. Additionally, my friend has a cat that I spend time with a few times a week. In my family’s home, I do everything for my family dog when I am there. We regularly go on walks and spend time outdoors. I am attentive to behaviour changes in your pet and approach with care. I respect the clients space and regularly stay in contact with owners to further ensure safety and communication. When I am caring for your animal I will always take your lead on what is best for your furry friend.

Rachel and Josh were amazing!! Our dog is nervous and reactive and they didn't bat an eye when we discussed this. Both felt comfortable with anxious dogs and I could tell when we all met, that Chico's behaviours were not going to be an issue for Rachel or Josh. When we were away, they sent regular updates with pics and everything went so smoothly. Plus, we come home to a super clean and tidy home! And could tell our animals had been well cared for. Would highly recommend Rachel (and Josh)!!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Welland

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Welland on Rover is $51.06 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 266 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Welland. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Welland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Welland walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Welland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 92% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
