We are so glad to have had Andrea looking after Sully. Although it was short notice, she still took time for a meet and greet. That was appreciated. Andrea came on time and had the dog outside right away. Sully had a walk with her and much play time. She is a lovely young lady whom we hope to see again.

What a great experience with Lauren! She stayed in our home while we were away for six days and took excellent care of both of our dogs and our house. The boys were happy and relaxed when we returned, and everything in the house was just as we left it - clean and well looked after. It gave us real peace of mind knowing that our pets were in such good hands. Highly recommend Lauren!! 😊

About: I have grown up with animals all my life from dogs and cats to reptiles and amphibians! Ever since I was a kid I have been obsessed with dogs and the amazing things they can be trained to do! I pride myself in my understanding on dogs body language and understanding how their minds work! I do currently work full time but I am looking to fill my free time with something I love and that’s spending time with animals! Well I can’t not provide day care or overnight in my home as I don’t live alone, I have a friendly fur baby of my own who loves meeting new friends on walks. I promise to respect your dogs daily routine and rules as I would expect someone watching my dog to do the same as to keep structure in your pets life well you are away as your absence can be stressful to your pet on its own.

Emma was great! Took care of our 2 bulldogs and 2 cats for a week while we were on vacation. Dogs loved her, she sent pictures and kept the house in order. Felt secure and safe with her watching over the house and dogs. This is our 2nd time using her, and she is worth every penny! ❤️ Thanks Emma 🙏🫶 Will definitely use ONLY her every time we have to go away. 💕

Tata was great ! She sat my 8 lb puppy ( Chihuahua) and he was only 5 months old. Tata was extremely intuitive to Rico's needs and training. I was away for 7 days and she welcomed him into her home and made him feel comfortable. She kept in touch daily with video's and texts. I highly recommend her and would book her to watch Rico for any future extended trips I may take.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was little, giving me years of hands-on experience with all kinds of pups. I’m certified in pet CPR and first aid, and I’ve cared for both energetic puppies and gentle senior dogs. Your pet will always be treated with patience, safety, and love. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I work part-time, which gives me plenty of flexibility for walks, visits, and quality time with your pet. I’m able to schedule morning, afternoon, or early evening appointments, and I make sure each pet gets the attention they need without feeling rushed. Whether it’s puppy playtime, a calm stroll with a senior dog, or regular check-ins, I can easily adjust my schedule to fit their routine and yours. When I’m pet sitting, I follow your dog’s routine as closely as possible, feeding times, walks, playtime, and any special instructions you provide. I keep their environment calm and familiar, give them lots of attention, and make sure they always feel safe. I also keep you updated with photos and messages so you know how your pup is doing. I provide safe, structured walks tailored to your dog’s energy level and needs. Whether they need a slow stroll, a quick potty break, or a longer, more active walk.

We hired Kiara to sit our 2 dogs over a long weekend. As soon as I met her, I knew she was the perfect person for the job. Kiara immediately showered my dogs with sincere kindness and attention and they loved her back right from that very first moment. It was obvious she genuinely loves dogs. She listened carefully to my care instructions and asked appropriate questions about our pets as well as our home. While we were away, she kept us updated with short videos and photos and reached out to us whenever she needed clarification. She was prompt to reply to any of my inquiries as well. We felt very comfortable with Kiara looking after our dogs in our home. After our trip, we arrived to 2 happy dogs and our house being just as clean and tidy as we left it. In all, I would highly recommend Kiara to care for anyone’s dogs. She is trustworthy, kind and truly caring.

About: I have over 4 years of experience caring for pets, including specialized training as a Certified Pet Groomer. This means I am highly skilled in animal handling, hygiene, and identifying early signs of health issues. I was mother of pets, so I understand the specific needs of small, high-maintenance breeds. Whether it’s an energetic puppy or calm, I know how to adapt my care to their personality. As a Master’s student, I spend the majority of my week studying from my home office, which means your pet will have constant companionship and a quiet, focused environment. My typical routine includes: Morning Walks: A long walk before my day starts to ensure your pet is relaxed and happy. Structured Breaks: I provide potty breaks and playtime every 2–4 hours throughout the day. Class Schedule: I have in-person classes on Mondays (11 am–1:30 pm) and Tuesdays (8 am–1 pm). Outside of these short windows, I am fully available for walks, feeding, and enrichment. Evenings & Weekends: My weekends are completely open, allowing for longer outings to local parks or extra grooming time. Because I limit my boarding to only two dogs and one cat, your pet will always be a priority in my daily schedule, never just one of the crowd! I believe a calm environment is the foundation of a happy pet. Whether in my home or yours, my priority is maintaining a high standard of safety and comfort. In My Home: Hazard-Free Zone: As an architect, I’ve designed my apartment to be a secure, open space. I ensure no small objects or dangerous plants are accessible. Hygiene First: With my grooming background, I maintain a very clean environment. I use my in-suite laundry to keep pet bedding fresh and sanitized. Constant Monitoring: Pets are never left unsupervised with others. I use baby gates or crates if a 'quiet break' is needed. In Your Home: Respect & Responsibility: I treat your home with the utmost care. I follow all house rules regarding furniture and restricted areas. Routine Consistency: I stick strictly to your pet’s existing feeding and walk schedule to minimize any stress while you are away. Security: I am meticulous about locking doors and ensuring your home remains exactly as you left it. The Trust Factor: I am a firm believer in the 'Meet & Greet.' I want to meet you and your pet beforehand to ensure we are a perfect match and to discuss any specific medical or behavioral needs.

About: I am a friendly, energetic 26 year old who loves all furry friends! Growing up on a farm, I have had a long history of working with animals. I love dogs, and I began dog sitting and taking care of dogs when my family adopted our dog Riley 10 years ago. Through the years, my family has also fostered many dogs, and I have really enjoyed taking the dogs out for long walks, runs, and out to play. I would love to take care of your dog for you, whether they’re big, small, shy, outgoing, lazy or energetic. (I am also very good with cats and other small animals). I look forward to meeting you and your pet. When I am looking after a pet, their care is my top priority. I always put them first and give them as much attention as they need. I care for pets in my home very attentively and thoughtfully. If a pet has a favourite treat or a favourite activity or enjoys being pet a certain way I will make sure to give them that treat activity or walk.

About: No request from you is too big!! My husband and I live in the middle of Welland. I started a not-for-profit dog rescue (Red Dog Rescue) from my home. We have saved 500 dogs off the streets of Texas since January 2020 and re-homed them here in Ontario. I left it late 2021 as the stress was too much but I do still foster the occasional dog! We own 5 rescue dogs total: 1. Bulldog (named KD) 2. Beagle (Lucy) 3. Collie (Kody) 4. Husky (Pretzel) 5. Bulldog (Silver) We go for walks, runs, hiking on trails and trips to the park daily! We do not go to dog parks due to the risk of incidents. We believe a tired dog is a good dog. Frozen peanut butter or treats in Kong's are given MINIMUM daily depending on allergies/sensitivities. Our love for these animals is unending and all dog guests are treated like our own. We live a very active lifestyle but are willing to tone it down to care for sick/old dogs as well. Contagious sicknesses however we cannot accept due to the high amount of dogs we have coming and going. We have a private dog area for dogs that are not socialized/aggressive but can only take 1 at a time. All dogs are “puppies” in our house, no matter how old they are. Corey and Robyn are Paramedics however Robyn now works from home while on mat leave, so someone is usually always home. We both know first aid and CPR for dogs, as well as any wound care and are willing to take the dog to a vet of your choice if needed, but are able to determine if the dog needs to go to the closest facility in case of an emergency. We both have experience with pilling animals and treating wounds, as well as we can do injections, first aid and CPR. Robyn worked at a vet clinic for 6 years with cats and dogs. She opened a grooming clinic in the downstairs of the vet. Her motto is “no dog left behind” and people brought the most aggressive dogs to her to be trained how to behave and relax/enjoy grooming. Dogs that other groomers turned away. She taught horseback riding lessons to kids and grew up owning one hundred free range hens. She grew up with family dogs as well. She has experience with zoo animals and reptiles having completed the Animal Care Program at Sheridan College. She also used to volunteer grooming at the SPCA in Hamilton as well. Corey grew up with dogs in his house his whole life. His favorite breed is Boxer, but he loves all breeds. Corey is very active. He does CrossFit and soccer and loves to run, but he prefers to do so with the company of a pooch, big or small. One day we hope to move to Texas to rescue dogs as there is a bad crisis of overpopulation there. We are also learning Spanish, this way when the funding is there we plan to drive down to Mexico to assist with the overpopulation of dogs and educating people about the importance of spaying/neutering their pets. Corey’s parents own three of the dogs we fostered in the past from Texas. We were both shift workers so we are happy to do crazy drop off/pick up times, being available 24/7 for those on night shifts! Give us a chance and we will do what we can to accommodate your pet! :) Big or small we love them all! #nodogleftbehind #spayandneuter #adoptdontshop Robyn is usually home all day as she works from home stepping out every so often for a quick appointment. Corey is home every evening/night and usually does evening walks/feeding. We have a large 6.5 ft solid wooden fenced in yard with patio stones, straw and wood chips to avoid mud! Concrete around the edges to avoid any escaping. Three of our dogs are well socialized and love to play! The other two we keep separate. We have a "cat room" and when the dogs are outside playing the cats roam the home! We rotate dogs/cats all day long when they stay with us to make sure everyone gets an adequate time to play/nap. Our dogs are crate trained but if your dog is well trained we can let them roam the home at night while ours sleep in the "doggie room".

About: I am a lover of all animals! I know everyone says that, but animals are my passion. I am energetic, outgoing, and fun and LOVE spending time with any kind of animal! I have had pets my entire life and hope to one day open a sanctuary for rescued animals. My dream job would consist of being able to spend time with your dogs and give them love, affection, and of course, the exercise they need. I have recently graduated from the Social Service Worker program at Mohawk College and hope to use my education to offer pet therapy in the future. I am more than happy to offer my services to your dogs (or cats). I can walk them, play with them, feed them, bathe them, house sit for you, clean up after them, brush them, administer medications, just to name a few. If you are looking for someone who truly loves animals and who will treat your dogs (or cats) like family, then I hope you give me a chance! I am available for walks, drop ins, or just hanging out with your pet! I have availability every day, through the day, just let me know what you need! In my home, pets will be treated like family — they’ll have a safe, comfortable space, regular walks, playtime, and lots of love and attention. I follow their normal feeding and potty routines to help them feel at ease. In a client’s home, I make sure to keep their pets’ environment familiar and stress-free by sticking to their usual schedule. I provide fresh food and water, walks or playtime, and plenty of companionship, while also respecting the home and leaving everything tidy. My goal is to make sure pets feel secure, happy, and cared for no matter where they are.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Port Colborne on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 235 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Port Colborne. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Port Colborne maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Port Colborne walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Port Colborne choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
