About: In the last decade+ I've taken care of half a dozen dogs and nearly a dozen cats for friends and through word-of-mouth, including a very senior chihuahua who was blind and deaf and needed diapers changed. I always had cats and dogs around growing up, including two difficult dogs from shelters who had issues. I live with an energetic pit-lab mix, and my parents' three rescue cats are still my sweeties. In the past I volunteered at an animal shelter, helping to socialize cats and walk dogs. I hike every day if I can, so if your dog enjoys vigorous exercise on trails, I can provide that too! I'm an adjunct college professor and freelance writer, so my work is part-time or sporadic, with much of it being done at home. If I'm available, I'll have plenty of time to linger and give attention to your pets! I'll follow your lead on what situations you're comfortable with for your pet, in terms of where I bring your dog for a walk, how they interact with other animals and people, etc.

“Sophie stayed with our Border Collie and 2 cats while we were gone and she was truly wonderful. She gave our pup good long walks and her calm presence even managed to coax our very skittish cat to come out of hiding. She sent lots of pictures and updates, which we really appreciated. We don't leave the animals often, so when we do, it's very comforting to know that they're in good hands. She also left the house in perfect shape. We highly recommend Sophie!”

About: Relationship with animals has always been a passion of mine. I started grooming dogs with my grandmother at the age of 10, but was her assistant long before I earned the title. It brings me joy and fulfillment to care for pups and cats alike, while creating an environment where they (and you) can feel safe and earn my trust in the process. As a part time bartender at Pascolo Restaurant in Downtown Burlington, it would fit into my schedule to walk dogs in the morning, afternoon and early evening as well as weekends.
