Lindsey put our minds at ease when we went away for a long weekend! She came 3x a day to care for our dog and made the experience so wonderful. Lindsey sent us updates with pictures and provided us with all the information we needed to make sure our dog was doing well! When we got home, we could tell our dog was happy and had a good weekend. Our dog was in great hands with Lindsey. We look forward to booking with Lindsey again soon!

About: Although I'm new to Rover, I'm not new to caring for pets. I've provided pet sitting and drop-in care for friends and friends of friends, giving me experience with dogs and cats of different personalities, routines, and energy levels. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet. Owning my own dog has taught me the value of patience, enrichment, positive interactions, and paying attention to each dog's individual personality and needs. I know every pet is unique, so I take the time to learn their routine, preferences, and what helps them feel comfortable and happy. I'm an active person who genuinely enjoys getting outside for walks and adventures, and I love making sure dogs have the opportunity to explore, sniff, and enjoy their time outside at their own pace. Whether your dog loves a longer adventure walk, a game of fetch, or simply some extra companionship, I'll make sure they get the attention and care they deserve. For cats and more relaxed pets, I'm just as happy spending quality time keeping them company, playing with their favorite toys, or providing a calm and comforting presence while you're away. My goal is simple: to provide dependable, compassionate care so you can leave knowing your pet is safe, happy, and treated like one of my own. I'll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can have peace of mind while you're away. Since the school year has begun, my availability is more structured as I return to teaching. It is more focused on providing weekend support and occasional weekdays during the school breaks. I will continue to update my schedule and communicate clearly to make sure I can provide reliable care for the pets I commit to. I enjoy being able to provide pets with attention, exercise, and companionship when their families need an extra hand. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I know how important it is to trust someone with your furry family member and your home, and I take that responsibility seriously. Before each visit or walk, I will take the time to learn your pet's routine, personality, and any specific needs or preferences. I believe every pet is different, and I want to make sure they feel comfortable and cared for while you're away. I understand that some dogs may be nervous, shy, or need extra patience when experiencing new people, places, or situations. I will always take the time to build trust, pay attention to their body language, and adjust my approach based on what helps them feel safe and confident. For walks, I focus on creating a safe and enjoyable experience by paying attention to your dog's energy level, surroundings, and comfort. Whether your dog enjoys an energetic adventure or a slower walk with plenty of time to sniff and explore, I will follow their pace and needs. During drop-in visits, I will treat your home with the same respect I would want for my own. I will follow your instructions carefully, keep your pet's routine consistent, and provide updates with photos and messages so you can feel confident knowing they are happy and cared for. My goal is to create a safe, positive experience for both you and your pet—giving you peace of mind while your furry friend enjoys some extra love and attention.

Pheonix did an excellent job caring for Wyatt, who is a high-energy and strong American Bully. She provided thorough updates and photos, and made sure Wyatt was safe during a heat wave. She is friendly and professional. I would absolutely use her services again and recommend her to others. Thank you, Pheonix!

About: Since I was 12 years old, I have been sitting for friends' and friends-of-friends' animals, in addition to having several pets of my own. I also have experience babysitting and housesitting, which have informed my work ethic and quality of care. I have experience raising kittens and puppies, as well as caring for adults and senior dogs and cats. I have two dogs, three cats, and a rabbit back at home— but I currently take full care for my 18-year-old cat Greenbean, which requires administering medication, adhering to a strict feeding routine, and monitoring her health closely. I take the care of my animals very seriously, and I am prepared to do the same for your pets! I am a full-time undergraduate student with a light class schedule. I am extremely flexible, and the majority of my classes are in the afternoon and early evening, allowing me to drop-in and care for your pets throughout the day. I have experience house sitting and can stay with your pets if needed. I do not offer care in my own home, but I am excited to learn your pet’s routine and follow the direct care that they require. I have reliable transportation and lots of flexibility, so I will have the freedom to work with your schedule and provide the best care possible.

Tarah has been great with our active & energetic doodle! She is very responsive, always on time, and genuinely loves dogs. She changes her route each time so he can get fresh sniffs and she gives a detailed report with each walk. Rocky runs to the door every time she gets here and I have full faith in her when he’s with her. I’d highly recommend Tarah!

About: I have been around dogs my entire life, and I love being around them every day. I currently work as a dog daycare attendant, and I have experience teaching basic dog care to kids in a dog kennel setting. I have taken care of 15 dogs on my own while managing a class of kids. I currently work part time at a doggy daycare, and I am doing school online. I am open to help most days that I am not working. I have worked in a dog kennel/shelter for a summer as an instructor and taking care of the dogs. I also currently work as a dog daycare attendant where I monitor the dogs and make sure they are safe and taken care of. I currently have two dogs at home that are mainly indoor, but I have a small yard for them to play in as well. I like to play fetch with them at least two times a day to make sure they are getting proper exercise.

About: I currently work at the Newport Navy Base at All Paws On Deck doggie day care. I have been there for about a year and am currently one of the lead staff members there taking care of the dogs. I have learned so much on dog behavior and safety. Since working there it has ignited an interest to become a dog trainer. The joy that dogs bring to my life has been so rewarding and I love every minute of my job and being with all my furry friends. I have grown up with always having a dog in my life and had parents that instilled responsibility that came along with it. I have watched and been responsible for friends and neighbors dogs when a helping hand is needed. My up bringing with always having a dog was that they are not just an animal but another member of the family and have to be treated as such. I have been very lucky to have had grown up with amazing dogs. I have rescued 2 beautiful greyhounds that were former racers in Florida. This particular breed is my passion due to the challenges it gives to teach them how to transition from the track to home life. This breed typically has never been inside a home and needs to be taught everything! Stairs, Windows, glass sliding doors, furniture, a yard, trust, and having her own toys and bed. This has taught me so much on how to relate to the dog and learn how they see life. My life currently when im not working is spending time with my family and enjoying the "island life" in Portsmouth. It is my husband and I along with our two boys and Anita (my greyhound). I work part time at the doggie day care. My availability time is flexible. I work half days so im available in the morning or afternoon depending on the day. I will respect the clients home and their pets boundaries and needs. I see it as entering their safe space and would not want them to feel that I am there to change that or threaten that.

Lydia is professional with years of experience! We had a great meet-and-greet with her - my dog Matcha absolutely adored her. She eased our concerns about leaving our pup in the care of someone new and gave Matcha a great hour-long walk to break up her time spent alone while we were at work. I really enjoyed getting updates and photos from the walk! I arrived home to a happy, tired, calm dog. I know Matcha is looking forward to her next walk with Lydia, and I am so happy to have found Lydia to help us care for her.

About: I’m a law student at RWU with a flexible schedule and would love to help care for your pets! I recently finished a three-week dog-sitting stay in the owners’ home and can provide references. I love going on walks and spending time with dogs, and I’m also a dog mom myself to a dachshund back home in Texas I'm home for the summer from school and have pretty open availability, which means I have plenty of time to dedicate to pet care. I’m flexible throughout the day and can easily adjust to meet the needs of different pets and schedules—whether that’s morning walks, midday check-ins, or evening playtime. Taking care of animals is something I truly enjoy, so it fits naturally into my routine this summer. I only provide care in the client’s home, which I find helps pets feel more comfortable and relaxed in their familiar environment. When I’m in someone’s home, I treat it with the same respect I would my own. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding routines, walk schedules, playtime preferences, and any special needs or medications. I make sure pets get lots of attention, exercise, and affection, and I always do my best to keep them happy and stress-free while their owners are away. Communication is important to me, so I’m happy to send updates and photos during visits as well!

About: I took care of the family dog for 12 years and now have two goldendoodles of my own. I've helped with giving baths, giving medication, feeding, walking, playing and giving treats, along with whatever else was needed. I work remotely so my schedule is pretty flexible. I'll be free to come take care of your pet, whether that's bringing them on a walk, getting them some exercise, or just playing around. I would be able to bring your pet for a walk (short or long depending on their preference or ability), hang out with them indoors, or whatever other type of care they might need. I will treat your pet with love and patience, as if they were my own. I have no problem adapting to the level of care your pet needs, whether that's playing fetch with them to get some energy out or hanging around inside and giving them lots of pets and attention.

Calla has been amazing with my girl 🐾 Even though today was only her second walk, I already feel completely confident in her. She really took the time to get to know my dog’s personality and learn her specific walking routine. My girl can be a little particular..especially around small dogs, and Calla has been very mindful of that, making sure to keep her safe and comfortable while they’re out. That kind of attention and awareness means a lot. She’s reliable, communicative, and you can tell she genuinely cares. My dog is already excited to see her, which says everything. I’ll absolutely be hiring her again; highly recommend!

  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
