About: As a dog trainer, prioritizing safety with dogs and building trust with their owners is fundamental to creating a successful and positive training experience. Safety ensures the physical and emotional well-being of the dogs, while trust with owners fosters confidence in your methods and strengthens the partnership needed for effective training outcomes. **Safety with Dogs**: Safety is the cornerstone of any responsible dog training program. By creating a secure environment, you minimize risks of injury or stress for the dogs. This involves using positive reinforcement techniques, such as reward-based training, to encourage desired behaviors without causing fear or anxiety. For example, using treats, praise, or play to reinforce commands like "sit" or "stay" helps dogs learn in a way that feels safe and enjoyable. Avoiding harsh methods, like choke collars or physical corrections, prevents potential harm and builds a dog’s confidence. Additionally, assessing each dog’s temperament and needs allows you to tailor training to their comfort level, ensuring they feel secure. For instance, a reactive dog may need gradual exposure to triggers in a controlled setting to prevent overwhelm. Maintaining a safe physical space—free from hazards, with secure leashes or barriers during group sessions—further protects the dogs and sets them up for success. **Building Trust with Owners**: Trust with owners is equally critical, as they are integral to the training process. Owners need to feel confident that you prioritize their dog’s welfare and respect their goals. This starts with clear, transparent communication about your methods, emphasizing your commitment to safe, humane techniques. For example, explaining why you use positive reinforcement and how it benefits their dog helps owners feel informed and involved. Listening to their concerns, such as a dog’s specific behavioral issues or their own anxieties about training, shows empathy and builds rapport. Providing consistent updates on progress, offering practical tips for owners to reinforce training at home, and demonstrating measurable results—like a dog responding reliably to commands—further solidify trust. By fostering an open, collaborative relationship, you empower owners to feel like active partners in their dog’s development. **Why It Matters**: Your emphasis on safety ensures dogs thrive in a stress-free environment, leading to faster learning and lasting behavioral change. Simultaneously, building trust with owners creates a loyal client base who feel confident in your expertise and are more likely to recommend your services. This dual focus not only improves training outcomes but also establishes you as a compassionate, reliable professional in the field. As someone who works from home, pet care seamlessly fits into my daily routine. Having owned dogs before, I’m experienced with their needs and love incorporating walks, playtime, and cuddles into my schedule. My flexible hours allow me to adapt to each dog’s unique routine, ensuring they get the attention and care they deserve, whether it’s a quick walk or a full day of sitting. As a dog trainer, prioritizing safety with dogs and building trust with their owners is fundamental to creating a successful and positive training experience. Safety ensures the physical and emotional well-being of the dogs, while trust with owners fosters confidence in your methods and strengthens the partnership needed for effective training outcomes.

About: Hello, I am a former US Gov. dog handler with 10 yrs of dog handling experience as well as experience with my own pets and family dogs. I was trained at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas to work Explosives Detection K9's for use at our airports, specifically Dulles Airport in VA. I have traveled extensively throughout the country and world, sometimes with my K9 which was always exciting. From supporting presidential inaugurations, the Super Bowl to bomb threats at an airport or on an aircraft the job was so fulfilling. Also seeing kids' faces light up at the airport was the best! Sadly, those days are behind me but I still have the knowledge and desire to play and be with dogs. I used to have the flexibility to work from home most of the month but now I am forced to go into the office so my Rover abilities are limited to weekends. But during those weekends I can give your four-legged family member plenty of breaks. During the weekend, I'll be primarily at home and can provide numerous potty breaks for your pup. If i do need to step out for errands, I can either leave your pup out as long as they are comfortable or I can place them in a crate if they are crate trained. They pass the day dazing off into the woods and watching birds, squirrels, deer and the occasional fox from the safety of a window. I will limit myself to 1 dog for boarding overnights or for day care. I can do 2 but only if they are already a pair living in the same household. Having to unknown dogs in my home could lead to fights which I want to avoid for the sake of the dogs, you and me! I prefer to do all my walks and potty breaks on leash. No fenced-in yard your pup will get lots of positive bonding on walks!. I have an XL crate and can provide crating if your pup is crate trained/if that's a preference for you. Your pups bed time will be in the crate (if trained), in a spare bedroom with a giant mattress all to themselves with a window and light. My furniture is pet friendly (no antiques here!). I can enforce any feeding rules that you have (sit/stay before chowing down) or provide any medications as directed. I do not have any pets of my own at the moment.
