Jenny was absolutely amazing. She came over for a meet and greet and brought both the cats and dogs treats. They instantly loved her. She is very responsive and very good with animals. My two dogs and two cats sat at the door after she left waiting for her to come back. She sends daily updates and took such great care of all of my four-legged kids. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who wants their animals to be well cared for. Thanks again Jenny!

Amy is the best dog sitter we could have asked for. I pride myself on how much I take my dogs on adventures but Amy even surpassed what I do for my own dog! Amy took my dog on numerous wonderful adventures while sending me amazing pictures from their adventures. When Amy left she left a gorgeous hand drawn picture of our dog. I recommend Amy to anyone with a pet that they like and want to leave in good hands. 5 stars. A+ dog sitting! Will hire again!

Always great to have Kevin here! Millie loves him and clearly gets great care and attention from him. Appreciate that when we came back early he offered to still take her on a walk. Definitely helpful for us to get unloaded and settled.

Kenya's the best! Truman is a needy dog with a medical condition, so it was stressful for us to leave him alone during our vacation. Kenya rested our minds with frequent updates of Trumam smiling so we always knew he was in good hands. I highly recommend Kenya... very professional and communicative. Will be using he again.

About: Currently working from home full time! I own a 4 year old shihtzu terrier named Cooper. He’s a super friendly little guy who gets a long with basically any dog. On my free time I enjoy taking my dog to dog parks and interacting with other dog owners. I have experience handling all types of dogs and sizes. Seeing a dog's tail wag super fast is one of my joys! Aside from working and loving dogs, I do enjoy being a foodie and eating at the newest hot spots that open up. Let me know if there is anything else you need to know about me! Working from home full time so I can drop in to walk your dog during the day time if needed! Otherwise usually available weekends as well. I live in a apartment complex on the first floor so there is some room for your dog to roam around. There is also a dog park nearby.

We can’t thank Michelle enough for the incredible care she provided to Hampton during our 12 day trip. This was our first extended vacation since Hampton was recently diagnosed with chf, and leaving him was understandably stressful. From our very first meet and greet, Michelle immediately put us at ease with her kindness, confidence, and genuine love for animals. Hampton now requires medication six times a day, and Michelle never hesitated to take on his complex care routine. She made sure he stayed on schedule, kept us updated with thoughtful messages and photos, and treated him like he was her own. Knowing he was in such capable and compassionate hands allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our vacation. We came home to a happy, healthy pup and a spotless home. Michelle exceeded every expectation, and we would not hesitate to book with her again. If you’re looking for someone who is dependable, attentive, and truly goes above and beyond, Michelle is the one. Thank you again for everything! We are so grateful.

We had a fantastic experience with Susie house sitting for our two dogs, one 12 years and the other 3 years. She was great with both of them - our younger guy is usually really hesitant with new people but he warmed up to her immediately. Our older one has some special care requirements and she was very comfortable caring for a senior dog with health issues. She made some time to come by before the stay to meet the boys, go over what they need, and get familiar with their schedules and needs. She was very communicative and sent quite adorable photos and videos while we were gone for the day. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a pet sitter!

About: I have a 70-pound dog who is 6 years old. She tore both of her cranial cruciate ligaments (CCL), and I took care of her when she was unable to walk during her surgery recovery. I am very comfortable with walking dogs (even large ones!), using firm but gentle commands, brushing their teeth and fur, and cleaning up after them. I am also working as a part-time Veterinary/Kennel Assistant, and through this role, I have learned to measure and record canine vitals (weight, temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate); safely restrain and position dogs during vaccines, blood draws, and ultrasounds; observe canine behavior and monitor for blood pressure measurements and fluid therapy; and more! I have a very flexible schedule and I’m currently able to work most weekdays at any hour! I can adjust to whatever works best for you and your fur babies :) My primary goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for your pets! I am detail-oriented, responsible, and communicative. I am truly an animal lover (all of my undergraduate education focused on working with animals, such as sea urchins, harbor seals, baby sharks, coyotes, and more!). I have also had pets for most of my life, and they are truly part of my family. I care for my pets by ensuring that they are happy, healthy, and stimulated. If I had the honor to take care of your pets, I would absolutely do the same! :)

Kim is AMAZING! She took excellent care of our Jax. Based on the photos she sent, clearly, he was on vacation for the week too! She was VERY helpful around the house with my plants, taking care of the home, cleaning before we returned, and was very communicative. She was even willing to help with a family emergency while we were away. Jax is a very opinionated Pitbull; he gives her 5 STARS and is asking when she can come back. THANK YOU for everything, Kim!

Sahil was an amazing dog sitter! He was very responsive and communicative throughout the entire stay, which gave us great peace of mind. He took wonderful care of our dog for a few days, and it’s clear that he genuinely loves and understands pets. The best part was seeing how happy and relaxed our dog was when we returned, which really showed how well he was treated. We would absolutely trust Sahil again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter!

FAQs for House Sitting - Brightside

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Brightside on Rover is $69.38 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 9,150 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Brightside. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Brightside walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Brightside maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Brightside choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Brightside. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
