“We love Marsha. This is the 2nd time we have left our doggie with her. Her profile statement is what caught my attention and resonated with me. She is so understanding and our super anxious dog had no trouble adjusting to the new environment (which was such a blessing - she quickly figured out his quirky personality). Like others have mentioned, Marsha is great about giving us frequent updates and pictures. She is very flexible and really works with us to ensure everything goes well. We highly recommend her!”
“Once again, Clara was wonderful with our Jake. We had some concerns because of some health issues our pup was demonstrating before we left but Clara took it all in stride and assured us he would be in good hands. Fortunately, Jake did well in her care and thanks to her no major issues came up during his week stay. Thanks so much, Clara!”

“My husband and I got our first kitty (thanks to the kitten distribution system) after already planning an out of town trip. Milk being our first kitten and both of our families’ ever first cat, no one could really watch her due to allergies or being unable to handle a kitten. We decided to take a chance on Rover and found Siqin and Michael. Throughout our trip we were provided with many photos, videos and reassuring messages. Our kitten quickly took to Wanwan and Chuchu too (absolute cutest duo you’ll ever come across, btw). We were also able to see the space our Milky girl would be in and eventually just allowed her to roam their home. They are CLEARLY animal lovers of all kinds and you can tell right off the bat. We plan on boarding Milk quarterly or so because we loved the care they provided Milky… and us! Thank you so much for all you do. We deeply appreciate these lovely paw-rents!”

“I highly recommend Janine! Our 2 French Bulldogs have been in her care multiple times and seem to look forward to visits. Janine not only shares daily pics of the pups but also provides helpful observations, asks questions if unsure of situation, and is responsive to our requests. Our pups get 1-2 walks/day. We completely trust Janine’s judgment and are grateful for her flexibility. Highly recommend!!”

“I want to thank Marina for taking such great care of my fur baby Ray. Marina & Anwar sent photos and videos showing Ray playing , walking and getting along with their dogs. They didn’t mind mixing his dry and fresh food. They have great communication skills and I feel comfortable recommending them to fur parents.”

“Pamela took such good care of my furbaby. Constant updates on how she was doing and made sure to upkeep routine and care. Definitely kept my furbaby busy and entertained throughout her stay. Pamela was also accommodating when updating her of my situation. Definitely recommend her for pet sitting”

“Ethan and Cecilia were fantastic with Cookie! Cookie stayed for two nights and came home happy, relaxed, and well-cared for. Communication was excellent throughout the stay, with regular updates, pictures, and videos. We felt completely at ease knowing our pet was in such good hands. They were able to take her on long walks that she so dearly loves! We would highly recommend Ethan and Cecilia to anyone looking for caring and reliable sitters!”

“Lihuan and her family gave Skye the best care there is out there. She is very flexible, Skye returned so happy and loved. Thank you Lihuan, definitely booking you next time as well.”

“Yu-Shu was amazing! She sent updates and photos to keep us posted during the overnight stay! They even carried in the dog bed and bag with food, treats and toys and walked it out to my car when I picked him up. Archie was in very good hands and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to board or sit their pet.”

“Monisa and David were top-notch dogsitters for our 10 yr old, 20 lb., Yorkie mix, Cody. Monisa kept us informed throughout our absence, and we never worried about Cody. He loved their doggy door that led to their large, grassy and shaded backyard. We hope to book with Monisa and David in the future.”

“Susan was our first Rover sitter, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. After meeting a few sitters, our dog immediately connected with Susan—and since Mochi only gives cuddles to very special people, I knew she was the one. We boarded Mochi with Susan for a few nights while we were away, and she was incredibly attentive to her needs. She took her on daily walks, played lots of ball with her—Mochi is a serious ball-aholic—and, most importantly, loved her like her own. She also sent updates and photos, which meant so much to us. At one point, I even joked that she shouldn’t spoil Mochi too much or she’d go into Susan withdrawal when she got home… and honestly, she did the next day! Susan is an absolute gem. We highly recommend her without hesitation and are so grateful she made Mochi’s first Rover stay such a happy and memorable one.”

“Giancarlo was supper accommodating and took great care of my dog. I wasn't there to drop my dog off, but I was not worried at all. Super professional, would highly recommend :)”

“I am lucky to have Lily taking care of my dog, Apollo for 24 days during my vacation. Lily gave me daily picture update of Apollo. My family was happy to see him even though we were thousand miles away. Lily also played balls with Apollo and playing ball is Apollo's favorite toy. I highly recommend Lily taking care of your dog.”

“Lexie was well understood and well cared for. I couldn’t have asked for more! Our dog is a tricky one with senior issues but Trisha and her family knew just how to address her difficulties and make her happy and comfortable. She fit right in with their family! I’m very grateful to Trish and I highly recommend her.”

“Shipra took great care of my dog Casey. She tried to understand her by asking about her detailed routine ahead of time. She genuinely cared about her and made sure she ate properly and asked questions so she was well taken care of. I received update photos and felt assured Casey was comfortable and enjoyed her stay under her care. I can't thank enough for Shipra and her lovely family for giving Casey a home away from home.”

“Being new to California, one of the hardest things for me has been finding someone I truly trust with my dog, Cooper. I usually take him everywhere with me, but recently that hasn’t always been possible. I’m so grateful to have found Hyangja! She took the time to meet with Cooper and me before my trip to make sure we were all comfortable and that it would be a good fit. We spent time getting to know each other while Cooper happily roamed around and made himself at home. While I was away, she sent me updates and pictures, which gave me such peace of mind. It was wonderful seeing that Cooper was comfortable, happy, and having a great time. I truly appreciate the care and attention she gave him. I think Cooper and I have officially found our perfect sitter, and that makes this dog mom very happy! Highly recommend!”

“Nina and Tony took excellent care of our 5 year old golden doodle, Yogi. They are so communicative, sent frequent updates. Yogi looked very well cared for and happy when we picked him up. Would highly recommend Nina and Tony!!”

Kim took phenomenal care of our dog Raider during his boarding stay. It was tough to leave our pup behind, but Kim made us feel completely at ease. Communication was excellent, and daily updates, and pictures were awesome. We could see that he was happy and well taken care of. He returned happy, healthy, and unstressed. We highly recommended Kim to anyone looking for top-notch care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Brightside home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Brightside.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Brightside sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
