About: I’m a very lucky dog mom to Malarkey, who has taught me more than I ever could have imagined. Adopted with a mystery of a history (though it includes getting a long scar across his body and a blinding injury to one eye), Malarkey showed signs of fear reactivity early on. While many online sources instruct us to punish and dominate our dogs, my dog needed a psychologically validating approach. Thankfully it didn’t take long for me to find a community of trainers and owners who have taught me the effective and respectful positive dog training techniques that brought my relationship with my boy to a new level. About: I have had pets of all sorts since I was little and helped take care of even more. From the time I was 7 to high school, my home had fish and 2 parakeets, Flyer and Stripe. My longest living gold fish, Swimmer, was my very first pet at 7 years old and almost saw me graduate high school. I was taught from a young age how to care for these animals and helped in the maintenance of their habitats. It was my job to clean the parakeet's cage (with adult supervision), give them fresh water and food, and dedicate time in my day to enrich their lives.
