“Laura was fantastic! I had dropped off my dog for about four hours while I was visiting a relative and Laura‘s home and Yard were lovely and perfect with a nice privacy fence. I cannot recommend her enough! Tilly was a happy pup there.”

“Adam is a natural, per Cooper. We knew the moment we met him that Cooper was in good hands. Cooper took to him immediately and made himself at home. We got him back last night and Cooper was calm and happy. Thanks Adam!!!”

“We felt completely at ease leaving our dog with Radka and her family. We got lots of pictures and videos of her stay. She had lots of room to run and play, both inside and outside, and she easily adjusted to being away from us for a week. We will definitely be booking another stay!”

“I can never say enough about about her wonderful services. My dog is older and has some special abilities that need to be tended to. She has dogs herself that are gentle and playful that supplies my dog with a plenty of playmates. She also never kenneled my dog which was a big worry for me. Time and time again I would never choose anyone else to take care of my sweet boy.”

“Fantastic sitters in every way! They took amazing care of our dog and we could not ask for anything more. We received multiple photos and videos throughout our vacation, which showed how much our dog was being loved on and how well she was being taken care of. Will absolutely request this couple again.”
“Laura was fantastic! She sent updates and pictures everyday. Nellie had the most fun with Laura and her family. I loved how they really adopted Nellie into the family for the week!”

“Cassandre did an amazing job taking care of our 15 y/o dog. This was our first time using Rover but seeing how happy our dog was when meeting Cassandre and from the pictures of her stay really calmed any nerves. Also our dog ate a lot being a picky eating which let us know she wasn’t anxious about being away from home because Cassandre made her feel so comfortable.”

“By far the best rover experience so far. Not only did Christina and her family take our dog, Truffle, last minute but they treated him like their own. With a big fenced in backyard and numerous walks around the neighborhood, Truffle had a blast. She sent consistent communications on how Truffle was doing as well as making sure her kiddos respected and knew how to handle a bigger dog. Above and beyond, would easily recommend Christina!”
“Julie was so easy to work with and has a great home and yard for dogs. She took good care of both of my dogs and sent me pictures of them and their adventures. I would definitely book again and recommend her to anyone”

“I found Stephanie by chance as my usual sitter would be out of town on vacation the same dates we were. I messaged Stephanie and we set up a meet and greet and the rest is sort of history! She was so accommodating, welcoming and happy to keep our pup! She sent pictures everyday and gave me a run down of how the day went, which eased my mama mind and heart. I will definitely book in the future ❤️”

“Marvin responded very quickly for a last minute request and was able to take care of my bully. He was communicative sent great pictures and gave him great walks. My guy came home happy. It was assuring to know he was still taken care of. 10/10 highly recommend”

“Cindy took great care of our Bella while we were on vacation. She sent us pictures and gave us updates every day. Before we left on our trip, we set up a meet and greet so Bella could meet everyone in the house and the other dogs. We knew she was going to be in great care while we were gone. We will definitely use Cindy again to watch our Bella girl.”

“We were so glad to find Lori at the last minute before our 10 day trip. She was accommodating and responsive throughout the whole process. We felt very at peace with our dogs being at her house and spending time with her family. We received updates and pictures almost daily and could tell Lori took good care of them. We will definitely use her services again.”

“Paula took such great care of our dog, and she was very flexible. We ended up having to change our travel plans and she was willing to work with us. She sent regular updates and I could tell Maggie was well loved while we were gone. I will definitely be asking Paula to take care of Maggie next time we need someone.”

“Lara was so great to work with! She took care of our Winnie like she was part of their family and kept us updated with lots of pictures throughout her stay. We will definitely book with her again!”

“I'm overjoyed to have found Jayla. She is very cheerful & warm. My fur baby spent 8 days & nights with her. From day 1 she was very attentive & comforting with Spike. Throughout Spike's stay, Jayla sent pictures, videos and messages to keep me in the loop. Her communications eased my concern; and let me know that Spike was comfortable, safe and adapting well to his unfamiliar environment. Since Spike is an older dog, he does best with someone with a calm demeanor, for me it was Jayla. I will definitely call on her again to care for Spike in my absence.”

“Dawn is an absolutely awesome human being and host for our dog Rocky. She always keeps us informed with photos and texts while Rocky is with her. Thank you Dawn!!!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Brandermill
She treated Teddy like he was part of the family! ❤️ He fit right in and seemed like such a happy pup during his stay. She sent frequent updates, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away, and her communication was excellent. It was clear that Teddy was comfortable, loved, and very well cared for. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their fur baby!

Thank you, G, for taking great care of our fur baby! She took our pup on walks that she clearly enjoyed—came home happily exhausted. G was also responsive and easy to communicate with, and we appreciated her flexibility with our schedule. Thanks again for a great experience.

This was the first time we have used Rover and we couldn’t be more pleased and happy! Tonya was absolutely the best. She organized a meet and greet months ahead of time at her house to be sure Kipper felt comfortable. We were a bit nervous leaving an elderly dog who is mostly blind and deaf for 2 weeks, but Tonya took the very best care of him!

Boarding our dog Nova with Kristina, Ricky, and their two sweet kids was great! They were super accommodating with a fairly last minute request, and they took excellent care of her. Communication was a breeze, and we got plenty of photos and updates throughout the trip. She got a ton of attention and playtime during her stay, and seemed right at home when we picked her up! Would absolutely book with them again!

Keith was great with Teddy Bear. He kept in touch with pictures daily. That really helped destress me since I don't like leaving my furbaby, and love actually seeing he was being well taken care of. I highly recommend Keith, and plan to use his service again in the future.

Julie is an excellent dog sitter! She watched my dog BMO for over a week, and provided regular updates and photos. It seemed like he had an amazing time with Julie, and he was well taken care of. I highly recommend Julie and would definitely board BMO again with her in the future.

Miranda is absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! She took care of our dog Archie last-minute (for the first time, too) and was incredibly kind, helpful, and constantly updated me while watching him. Archie had such a good time, he didn't want to leave! We also had to pick him up past midnight on our way back, and Miranda was extremely accommodating and, again, was just amazing overall. Her dog Crush was also super sweet and has become Archie's first best friend. We will absolutely be using her services again, and I highly recommend others to do the same!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Brandermill home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Brandermill.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Brandermill sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
