“Carmen has made several check ins with our two kitties and one dog. They love her, even our very shy kitty! Both of our kitties require meds and Carmen was able to give them their meds with no issues. I would highly recommend Carmen her love of animals is very evident.”

“David cared for our three cats while we were away and performed exceptionally well. He went beyond expectations with our older cat requiring medication, ensuring she received every dose by mixing it into her food and ensuring she ate every drop. He was prompt and thorough, inspecting all three animals even when one hid. He sent detailed entertaining updates and lots of photos. I strongly recommend David for your pet care needs.”

“Jenni was just wonderful and did a great job taking care of our kitties for 5 days. She made 2 very nervous cat parents feel ok about taking a trip knowing that they were in good hands 🙌🏻 😊”

“Mámoo is great with my husky, and getting her to play and fetch. Mámoo is definitely one of my dog’s favorite rovers. I like that they take feedback and adjusted the session to push my dog a little more to exert more energy. Great rover.”

About: I have plenty of personal experience in caring for animals, growing up with pets my entire life as well as currently having a dog of my own. Ive always had a deep love and interest in learning about and caring for animals. Ive pet sat for family/friends and have experience with other species such as rodents and reptiles. I have a great passion for working with animals and would love the opportunity to pet sit or dog walk for you! I work a part time job but I do have a flexible schedule and can always work with whatever dates or times you would need! At your home I would spend time with your pet, keeping them busy with any activity that suits their personality best whether it be laying down getting pets, playing with enrichment toys, going for a walk or playing fetch! My home would be a very similar experience, I live in a safe neighborhood for walks, and also have a fenced yard.
About: I have had dogs for much of my life! Always enjoyed the fun time with our furry friends! My most recent pups have been Sarita a beautiful Basset Hound and Luna our current loving adopted puppers!! We also have a kitty who has been my faithful companion, kiki. I love spending time just hanging out with and caring for dogs of all types as well as earning cats love ! I am currently working part time but I have lots of flexibility and love to pup-sit! I am available most days of the week and also weekends! Whether a day sit or weekend getaway I am flexible to watch any of your pets! I live in a gated community with lots of places to go on walks and enjoy some fresh air! There is a open space to play ball and get their exercise in. Otherwise I enjoy spending time relaxing with pups of all ages and breeds!
“Lupita was great, totally exceeded all expectations. She checked in our two cats daily for a week over Christmas, and followed all our instructions. She sent us videos of them everyday, and they clearly loved her. She even won over our skittish boy who's slow to warm up to strangers. Lupita is also very responsible over text and kind/easy to communicate with. Would recommend to anyone.”

About: Being around animals is something that brings me joy. I have been around pets my whole life, so I have a lot of experience with many different species. I currently own one dog and he is just full of personality. I would love to meet your pets and care for them while also being able to see their character. My schedule is pretty open and flexible other than when I am taking care of my own pets, working my part time job, or dealing with college assignments. I would care for pets in clients home by entertaining the pet with toys or treats approved by the owner, I would take the pet out for its routine outside times and overall just have a fun time with the pet
“Kelly did an amazing job with my dogs as well as tidying up a bit of the house. Her professionalism, knowledge and communication is exactly what you would want from someone watching your fur babies. I was always afraid that my dogs would take a while to become comfortable with new people, but Kelly has the dog whispering ability and easily gained their confidence and trust. She has care and attention to detail with each dog and I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for only the best of what Rover has to offer.”

About: I recently lost my paws in early 2025 so I am doing what's best now. I want to see the community pay a little for A LOT. I’m not just a dog walker, but a pack player, buy you toys, let you play with several treat dispensing tricks balls, cuddle is a must, and welcome your furry friend into the pack like my own. I treat your dog like I have known them my whole life... At date of 01/25/2026 I am available Sunday - Wednesday 6am - noon. Thursday - Saturday available 6am to 10pm. I blocked off calandra dates that I am out of town. I treat them like they're my own and this includes extra safety when outdoors, extra treats sometimes, extra one and one time and I am a firm believer in hugs and kisses to these babies.
“Terra was great. She understood my cat needed space while I was away and adhered to all of my requests. I was not able to do a meet and greet and she stepped in without an issue by talking it over on the phone. She made me feel comfortable leaving my baby with her. I’d recommend her and hire her again.”

About: I’ve taken care of many different dogs and animals since childhood. I was part of my local 4h helping raise animals from steers to Guinea pigs. I love all animals and love them more than humans. I currently work from home. I can be very flexible with my schedule to accommodate different needs. I will always be available for your pet for some pets or a step outside. I have a small cat who keeps to herself. Your dog can be free around my home or crated if you prefer. I work on my computer all day so I can always be attentive. I live right on a creek so your dog will be very entertained on their walks.
“Robin was great! This was MacKenzie's first trip and stay at a hotel. Knowing she was in good hands for her afternoon walks was very comforting. Robin sent me pictures, videos and updates everyday.”

About: I’ve got experience dog-sitting, and dog-walking, as well as living with dogs and love when I get the chance to take care of them. I’ve had a dog my entire life until her recent passing and have loved and cared for all animals even before I got one. I’m incredibly comfortable with dogs of all sizes, types, and temperaments. This includes sick dogs with medication, senior pups, and various exercise needs. I have saved my dog from a life-threatening attack and provided intensive care, so I work well in a potentially contentious environment. I’m a full time student but my schedule is incredibly loose. I get to choose when I work on my senior project and go to class so I’m available whenever essentially. I only have to be in class Monday and Wednesday from 5-7! Other than that feel free to schedule me. I have a wonderful medium sized fenced yard and live close to Westlake park which has ample grass and play area. My roommates do live with me but are comfortable with the situation and all dog-friendly!

About: Hello! My name is Anna, and I am currently studying to become a veterinarian in Santa Cruz, CA. I have worked professionally with animals for the past nine years and always treat every fur baby as if they are my own. I have built this experience through my independent pet-sitting business, my four years as a sales consultant at Pet Food Express, and my volunteer work as a cat and kitten socializer at a local shelter. I am also a mama to both my wonderful cat, Lemon, and my 16-year-old dog, Leo! I am currently very flexible with my schedule and am available for both day and overnight pet sitting. I strive not only to make your pet(s) feel as comfortable as possible, but also to help every owner feel as though they left their pet in the right hands. I love to provide as many updates and photos of your fur baby as you may want! I have the most experience with cats and dogs, but I do have limited experience with reptiles as well. I have additionally worked with animals of all temperaments, and I understand that new faces can be anxiety-inducing for some. I will always tailor each experience specifically to the needs of your animal and what will help bring them the most happiness :) Specific areas of expertise for me that may not be found elsewhere include caring for senior pets and animals who may have special needs. Through my studies, I have developed a strong foundation in primary veterinary concerns and how to properly care for an animal when they may not be feeling their best. As a current undergraduate student who pet-sits as my primary job, I am very flexible and open to caring for your animals! At most, I drive up to campus once a day for approximately two hours in the afternoon. I leave the rest of my day open to keeping your fur baby the best possible company. Pet safety is always my number one priority! I currently live in an apartment complex that contains a fenced yard, a dog park directly behind my apartment, and plenty of dog-friendly walking trails nearby. Our apartment is fairly spacious, and I have found that animals tend to love the large windows and amount of light we receive. For cats, I always ensure that all windows and doors are locked, and there are no possible escape routes (I know how sneaky cats can be)! I do currently have a very friendly cat living with me.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Brackney
This was our second time having Sera take care of our two cats, Lyra and Plum, and she did an outstanding job! We had for her 2 1-hour visits per day, and those longer visits really helped solidify our cats’ growing bond with Sera. Like many cats, ours can take a little time to warm up to people they don’t know well. While our babies were still a little shy at first, they warmed up to her quickly, and it was clear Sera made a concerted effort to facilitate that. She was attuned to their body language and knew when they wanted pets, play time, or just a little quiet company. Sera warmly offered them affection while still making space for them to accept her offers of pets and scritches on their own terms. She played with their favorite toys and gave them special Churu treats to help build that positive association to her, which went a long way in helping our cats feel comfortable with her. Within a couple of visits, we were seeing adorable photos of our cats greeting Sera at the door, rubbing up against her, and flopping over to show her their bellies! A clear sign of trust, lovingly cultivated through Sera’s patient and attuned care! She also takes the BEST pictures. Sera was also attentive with the food, water, litter boxes, and our home in general. When we got home, the litter boxes had been freshly scooped, the areas around the litter boxes were swept and tidy, and their water fountains were full with water from a bottle of filtered water we asked her to use. She even took out our kitchen trash, which we had accidentally forgotten to do before leaving, and replaced the bag! By the time we got home, we noticed our cats were shedding much less than they normally do when we come home from a trip— a subtle but telling sign that Sera was giving them lots of pets and love! We highly recommend Sera and would be happy to hire her again in the future!

It's so nice to be able to totally trust Luna with my two Maine Coon cats. Her level of care along with her professionalism is exceptional. While I'm on vacation I get her photo/video updates. My cats always seem relaxed with her. When I get home from vacation I can see it around my house. The clean floor around their food dishes. The well kept litter box area. Well fed and happy cats. She's always sure to contact me with any updates. I would heartily recommend her to any potential clients. I'm happy to have her in my cat's lives.

Once again, Serenity and her partner were outstanding. Serenity is so attentive and keeps me updated throughout each and every visit. You can tell that they are animal lovers through and through! I've used Serenity and her partner three times now and will definitely be using them again in the future. I always leave feeling confident that my boys are in good hands.

Terra was great. She understood my cat needed space while I was away and adhered to all of my requests. I was not able to do a meet and greet and she stepped in without an issue by talking it over on the phone. She made me feel comfortable leaving my baby with her. I’d recommend her and hire her again.

Bianca took wonderful care of our two cats and kept us updated the whole time, which gave us real peace of mind. Everything was clean and calm when we returned, and it was clear our cats were comfortable and well cared for. We’d happily book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive sitter.
Kayla was so knowledgeable and helpful! She really put my anxious mind at ease while travelling away from my cat, Bella. She provided me with tips for caring for my pet, communicated exceptionally throughout the entire process, and went above and beyond by trimming Bella's nails and playing with her. She also has a great attitude! I would highly recommend her if you are a first time user on Rover or for any of your animal's needs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
