Since I work part-time, I have time to play with and care for your animal. I typically work 9 am-1 pm Monday-Friday and am typically flexible on the weekends. Booking in advance works best for me as I don’t accept more than one boarding/ housesitting client and a time and I need to make sure I have enough time to do what my clients expect of me. I don’t mind less than 48-hours notice, but I can’t guarantee it.

Safety, trust & environment
I love and respect all animals! You can trust me to make the right decisions to ensure your pet’s safety and happiness while you’re out and about. If you need boarding- I prefer dogs only under 40 lbs, but can accommodate large dogs as long as they are gentle and have some basic command training. Dogs that I board must be potty-trained and cat-curious or cat-friendly. I have a mowed fenced-in backyard for your dog to let loose in. I would prefer to crate your dog at night or if I am away for a couple of hours because I'd like for my cats to be able to move around freely in their space without being chased. If your dog isn't crate trained, I can also keep them with a blanket, dog bed, and toys in my guest room or living room with a shut door. I will never leave your dog(s) with my cats unattended and I will never leave your dog for more than 4 hours during the day (I'm normally around but work in the mornings, and do sometimes run errands in the afternoon) and 7-8 hours at night (I do like my sleep and don't sleep with dogs... but I can get up if they bark or whine. I'd hear them through my door!) I will adhere exactly to the schedule you give me and check on them exactly as you ask, plus probably a little more during the day. Think of me as a neighbor that you ask to watch your dog- you’re just paying me and can ask for me to do other simple things with your dog such as brush or walk them! Since we work at a campsite, I would love to walk your dog around the camp. It’s a safe and quiet forest environment with lots of trails! I’m here to help you and your pet while you are away. Just let me know if you have other requests and I’ll try my best to accommodate.

Information Christa G. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your animal has specific behaviors or medical conditions I need to be aware of. I do have experience giving pills, supplements, injections, and subcutaneous fluid administration, but I like to be able to meet with you ahead of time to practice or at least talk through your animal's specific needs. I can be firm and confident for pets that need structure and correction, but I am not an animal behaviorist and am not comfortable with aggressive animals. If your pet aggressively bites or attacks me unprovoked, it will be reported and I will no longer be able to care for you animal
A typical day
I’ll make sure to give your pet lots of love and reassurance while you are away! If your dog stays with me, I’ll walk them around our property, play with their favorite toys, let them run around our fenced-in backyard, and hang out with me in the house! They will be like a family member for the duration of their stay. If I’m house-sitting, walking, or just checking in on your pet, I will make sure they are safe, care for them however you ask, and give them lots of reassurance and love while I'm with them. To me, house-sitting looks like staying at your home from after dinner time to the next morning around 8:30 a.m. If your pet needs something different (more potty breaks, walks, and attention etc.), you are welcome to request more time with me. Just remember that if you ask me to do more, I may need to be compensated a little more, too. Please know that I only take jobs that are over 10 miles away from me or for a duration of over a week by special request. This is because I am not reimbursed for miles and sometimes the roads (especially in the winter) can be rough. It can also be stressful for me to be gone from home for too long.

Pet care experience
*Disclaimer: My part time job has moved to full time for summer 2026, so I am more busy than normal and I am turning off some of my services. Reach out to me, it is possible I am available for what you need , I just can't handle responding to too many requests this summer. Hope that makes sense!* :-) I love all animals but have a passion for cats! Every cat is unique based on their genetics, socialization, and life experience, which I completely respect. I understand that some cats can be very affectionate and need lots of attention and may require someone to stay with them for several hours, and that other cats really just need someone to check on them and refill their food bowl once a day. We can make a care plan for your cat that works for all of us. Know that I have set rates in the app, but we can change them so that they reflect the level of care your pet requires. I grew up with several cats, and now have two of my own who my husband and I are just obsessed with! Before I had a cat of my own, I spent several months TNRing (trapping, neutering, and releasing) a small colony of cats in a family member's neighborhood - meaning I do have experience with feral cats and cats with behavioral issues. Although I don't have any formal veterinary training, I've spent hours researching and reading about cat behavior. I also have some experience with cat diabetes, administering subcutaneous fluids, and giving medications to cats should your animal need special care. A Little About Me: Hi! My name is Christa Garcia. I grew up in Fresno with dogs, cats, lizards, fish, and a hamster. I received my BA in 2020 and started grad school in September '24. My husband and I moved to Ben Lomond in 2023 where we help run a camp and retreat center. I’ve pet-sat and house-sat (plant care, picking up mail, other reasonable requests, etc.) for years for friends and neighbors either by just swinging by to feed and play with them, or staying with them. I’ve pet-sat for cats, dogs, chickens, and rabbits. Please reach out if you’re interested in having me walk, check-in, feed, and/or board your cat or dog. Thank you!

Reviews

She did a great job. The cats seemed to warm up to her immediately and enjoy her company. I appreciated how communicative she was. Would definitely hire her again!

Christa stayed at our house and took care of our geriatric dachshund and kitten. They were both happy and healthy when we returned!

Christa took great care of our two cats and was incredibly thoughtful and communicative. So glad to have had someone we could trust to check in while we were gone. Christa even managed to get our very shy and nervous cat out of his shell!

Christa stayed with my cat two nights and was both communicative and responsive. She administered meds every morning and they even got some cuddles in. Thanks!
