I am comfortable with sensitive cats, skilled at administering medications, and a majority of my regular clients have cats who tend to be aggressive with strangers. Your cat can’t scare me; scouts honor! I have mid-level experience with dogs. I have fostered reactive dogs in the past, utilizing distractions and redirection when on walks. I often become the pet sitter for those dogs when they’re either reunited with family or find their new home. I’m the type of person dogs make eye contact with from a distance, and I always request permission from dog parents before inviting the dog to be pet. My pet sitting includes overnight and attentive drop-ins. While an animal and I are getting to know each other, I always ask them for permission to pet them by providing my hand in an unthreatening manner. I like to use a low, calm voice. For shy pets, I limit direct engagement, so they can get adjust to my presence. If a pet is hiding, I’ll often read aloud to them during my visit. Caroline took wonderful care of our cat, Gaogao. She always sent updates and lots of photos after every visit, which we really appreciated. Gaogao clearly loved spending time with her and enjoyed cuddling and playing with her. She also really helped us during an emergency while we were away. Gaogao tried to swallow a screw, and Caroline noticed in time and pulled it out before it became much worse. We’re so grateful for that.
