About: I grew up caring for pets of all kinds, and for the past six years have cared for a behaviorally complex (but wonderful!) rescue pup. Our journey has taught me a ton about training, and about patience. As a result, I am very understanding of dogs and other animals that deal with reactivity — we are a shame-free household! About: I’ve been connected to animals from a very young age! I’ve always gravitated towards dogs among people and love playing with them and keeping them active. I’ve walked my own dog, Pearl, multiple times a week when I lived at home and dog sit several dogs throughout my time. I love giving animals extra love and a great experience. About: Eric and Rachel share a love for their beloved Aussie-beagle Lilo and fostering rescue dogs together. We know that it is never easy to leave your beloved dog with someone new, and in a new place. As our own Lilo has struggled with separation anxiety before, we know how important it is to have a pet sitter who is present, patient, and able to cater their care towards a dog’s specific needs. Rachel has taken care of 6 different family dogs growing up, including a border collie, golden retriever, Boston terrier, 2 mixed breeds and a silky terrier. Eric has taken care of his family dog (chihuahua mix) since birth till now (9 years old). Together, we have fostered 12 rescue dogs these past two years, ranging from high energy Great Pyrenees to 3 Border Collie puppies all at once, to a completely afraid and anxious Beagle mama and Shiba Inu mama that are recovering from very difficult situations. We have also looked after a Rhodesian Ridgeback and an American pit bull. Our own dog is a 2.5 year old Aussie-beagle. We both have lots of experience working with dogs of all kinds of temperaments and needs, especially high energy dogs who require a lot of attention and care, and administering medication to dogs who have special needs. Rachel also loves cooking her home cooked meals for her dog, and can do that for yours too, if you need! We both work from home and have all weekends free. Our flexible schedules together allows us to bring dogs regularly on walks and to look after them consistently. We follow instructions really well, and can take care of your dog according to your requirements. We allow dogs to roam and sleep freely in our home, but we can also crate your dog easily if you prefer. We know how to work with your dog with lots of gentle care and love.
About: I have always loved animals. I was the kid that would bring stray animals home asking my parents if I could keep them. I have always had dogs in my family homes. I graduated from Iowa State University with an Animal Science degree in May of 2016. I have dog sat for other families in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. I honestly love dog sitting and I have even taken care of some turtles and tortoises. I don’t really think of pet sitting as a job, but rather an opportunity to provide a safe and loving environment for your family pets while you are on vacation or if you have other obligations. Alexandria was very attentive and nice when we did our meet and greet. Our cats are high maintenance (multiple food additives, a very picky eater, etc.), but Alexandria took care of it all. They even were able to give my one cat his pill and administered his inhaler, which they said they have never done before. It can be a little daunting, so I really appreciated they were willing to give it a shot and did so successfully. They sent lots of photos and even did the dishes before they left, which was definitely not an expectation. They noticed one of the microchip feeders stopped working right, and immediately messaged me and did all the steps to try and get it fixed. I made an oopsie and didnt add that I needed Alexandria to check in on the weekend. They were able to catch that and checked in with me to make sure someone was coming. I didnt have anyone, but they were able to make 2 hour long check ins for the whole weekend. I appreciate Alexandria's thouroughness, attentiveness, and the small extra things they did to make my cats as comfortable as possible for the entire week we were gone.
