“Peace of mind! Jordan stayed with our two senior dogs for 5 days. Her kindness, care and communication are the only reasons we could have left them. Both dogs have medical issues, and Jordan was very attentive and tuned in to what they need. She kept in touch about how they were doing and shared photos of them enjoying their time with her. One of our dogs hasn't been eating well, and she sent details about what and how much he ate each day. The other one is going through some medical tests, so if she noticed anything off, she reached out right away. She administered medication and goodnight cuddles (we got videos!). We hope she will care for our dogs next time we need a sitter!”

“Jonathan was absolutely wonderful with our two dogs and cat! He was extremely reliable, responsible, and great with communication. His daily updates and pictures gave us complete peace of mind knowing our pets were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. He truly went above and beyond, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. We highly recommend Jonathan and will definitely use him again! ❤️”

“Kasey is amazing and helped us immensely by watching our cat Boots and little puppy Cricket, who had just been through a big medical ordeal. She was prompt, professional and caring. She was able to administer multiple medications to our very stubborn pup and helped her to eat when she wasn't feeling well. She communicated with us about their well being consistently and sent us great pics. We are so grateful for her excellent care!”

“Absolutely wonderful! Very friendly and communicative. Our girls were super relaxed and happy when we got home to a very clean house. 10/10 would book again. Thank you for all of the pics and updates on our girls over the course of your stay.”

“Jacquelin was such a WONDERFUL pet sitter to my Italian Greyhound, Oliver. I've never used Rover before, and she kept my mind at ease while I was out of town for a wedding. I wouldn't have been able to go without her help! I received updates, pictures, and videos everyday. Thank you Jacquelin for being the best!”

“Brittany was amazing and really helped to make our wedding weekend super stress-free, house sitting and taking care of our dogs while we got married! She made sure to give us regular updates throughout the weekend, keeping us at ease and we knew our fur babies were in good hands so we can focus on the big day. Brittany is extremely trustworthy and we will 100% be using her services again. 10 out of 10, would highly recommend!”

“Tracy is hands down the best sitter I have worked with. She went above and beyond sending me pictures while I was away and took amazing care of my guy Ted. While I would like to keep her to myself I truly recommend Tracy to anyone. Thank you again Tracy.”

“I was so pleasantly surprised when I booked Claire sort of last minute. It’s my first time using anyone but friends to watch my precious pup Coco. We were greeted by Claire and her amazing family of 3 dogs, 1 cat and wonderful parents. The pets are all adorable and well behaved. Beautiful home and fenced in yard. Claire communicated through the time away and sent lots of reassurance, pics and videos. She was so flexible with drop off and pickup time too. I highly recommend and won’t think twice about using in the future!!”

About: I have experience with being around animals since I’ve been 5 years old. I have two dogs of my own and three cats as well. I will make sure the animals are comfortable, loved and taken care of properly. I am patient, caring, and have high energy. I am big on play time and walks and making sure they get their exercise for the day. I have walked dogs before and also provided in house care for several of my neighbors and close family friends. I really do enjoy being around animals and find it very relaxing. I’m a college student and can be very stressed at times so getting to play with an animal really is something I look forward to. Thank you (: On a daily basis I am always making sure my animals are fed, getting play time in, cuddles and more! They are so important to me! Making sure my pets always have water and their litter box is clean on a daily basis. I always ensure they get little extra treats throughout the day as well as cuddles!
“Melissa was amazing! Our cat has been really picky with food and Melissa went out of her way to try different options to make sure she ate. When we came home, we honestly think our cat was disappointed it was us and not Melissa, lol. The house was in beautiful shape, and we never once felt nervous about being away from home. THANK YOU!!”

“Thu was amazing. I had another sitter booked who canceled on me on Thanksgiving morning! Thu saved the day! She spent lots of time loving my babies and sent me pictures. I would highly recommend her.”

“Elena was an absolute godsend for our pets!!! She came over a few days before she housesit - and the dogs were nervous at first, but she sat on the floor with them and waited until they were comfortable - and basically, she's the dog whisperer. When she came for the housesit, the dogs recognized her and were excited to see her. She sent pictures and let us know how they were doing the perfect amount, and the pictures she sent were some of my favorites that I have of them now! I didn't worry at all while we were away, and that is 100% thanks to Elena. Her kindness, patience, and flexibility, among a million other amazing qualities, make Elena the only person I would ever want to housesit for us in the future!”

“Madeline was fantastic! Madeline sent thorough updates every day along with photos of our dog - we really loved these status reports while on vacation. She also went above and beyond so we came home to a clean home after her stay.”

Kalyna was awesome and our first meet and greet/walk went really well. She comes with great and positive energy and very clear communication about her boundaries and availability. My dogs of course loved her as I suspected they would. I am looking forward to working with Kalyna again as I know my dogs are!
So grateful for Sabrina and her excellent care for my dog Jaxon. She went above and beyond taking him to the park for a dip in the creek during the heatwave. Sabrina communicated throughout her entire stay even sharing cute photos, I knew they were having a wonderful time together which put me totally at ease while we were away. Definitely book Sabrina for the kindest and most genuine care for your best friend, I will certainly be using her services again! Thank you Sabrina, Jax already misses you!

Emily was super excited to stay with my pups even with their quirks and was able to book within a week of my vacation and meet them when I had a last minute cancelation with someone else! She was very responsive both before and during my trip and kept me updated about my dogs with pictures which was super appreciated! She was also able to give medication to one of them as needed and follow the food directions as well as made time to sit with one of them who will only eat with company. I will definitely be reaching out to her again in the future!

Loren met with me initially. I could see that she and my cat were completely comfortable with each other. Loren stayed over at my home while I was away for a business trip. Loren sent me photos of my cat morning and evening, reassuring me that all was well. I returned home to find everything tidy. My cat was relaxed and peaceful. That's the best compliment I can give. The whole experience with Loren was 5-star from start to finish. My cat and I absolutely recommend Loren

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Balmville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Balmville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Balmville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Balmville. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
