I love to house sit and care for your animal in their environment! Depending on location and duration I can plan to stay with them overnight or just spend time during the days as needed. I have a reliable car for convenient transportation around the Hudson valley and have many house sit clients in Brooklyn where I used to live as well.

Information Abbey L. would like to know about your pet
No specific breed preference - any breed is welcome! I need to know: - How is their personality and demeanor? - Are they friendly or shy with new sitters? - Veterinarian info, health conditions and vaccine status - Care needs: What do they eat? How much and how often? Any allergies? - Is your pet trained? What commands do they know? - How does your dog behave on walks? Anything I should look out for? (common - reactivity to other dogs, picking up sticks, leash chewing. etc) - Any circumstance your dog has become reactive, aggressive or bitten anyone - How often your dog(s) typically needs to go on walks - Medication needs if applicable - Treats allowed - Where your dog / cat is used to sleeping - Toys they love
A typical day
When I take care of dogs, I love to walk and jog with them if the owner permits and is confident they will enjoy it. We will chat about their routine and I do my best to stick to what they are used to. I have done lots of dog training and am comfortable walking very excited pups with lots of energy. I’m familiar handling reactive dogs as well and can make sure they stay safe.

Friendly, Reliable Dog & Cat Sitter
Pet care experience
Hello! I'm Abbey, lover of all kinds of dogs and cats. I have lots of experience caring for large dogs and was a lucky owner of a wonderful fluffy Australian Shepherd. I learned tons of great dog training techniques to help with reactive behavior and controlling strong pups with high energy. I have also cared for cats from kittens to seniors and have lots of experience administering medication orally, by injection and giving lactated ringer fluids. Your pet(s) will get lots of love and attention as if they are my own! If they are shy, of course I will give them space and keep you updated on how they are doing. I like to capture lots of cute photos of animals and enjoy sharing detailed updates to provide peace of mind. Please note: I do not accept drop-in requests if you're unable to do a meet & greet (after a bite incident). For safety and in case of emergency, be sure to have your pet's vaccine information, care needs, veterinarian contact filled out. • Let me know about your pet's demeanor and personality. Are they typically friendly with new humans? What commands does your dog know? Are they treat motivated? • Any instances of aggression or bite incidents? If so, how has this been handled? For house sits: Please specify if you prefer for me to stay overnight in your home. Pet parents with dogs usually prefer overnights in my experience. Depending on distance from my home in Beacon, I will typically be out for a few hours per day during house sits to care for my 2 cats. Aside from pet care, I work remotely and have reliable personal transportation to care for pets all over the Hudson Valley and nearby areas. I'm a freelance graphic designer and writer with a flexible schedule. I love spending time caring for animals because they bring so much joy to my life. I know how important it is for your pet to be in trusted hands when you're away. I enjoy providing that peace of mind to others. I’m very experienced with cats and comfortable giving meds if needed. I love trail walking, playing ball, fetch and running around with active dogs! I have cared for pups of all sizes and ages - specifically Australian Shepherds, Retrievers, Huskies, Boston Terrier, German Shepherd, Border Collie, Weimaraners, Pointers, Silky & Yorkshire Terriers, Pitbulls, a Malte-poo, Sheltie, Beagles, Shiba Inu, Poodle, and many mutts ❣️

Reviews

Abbey did a wonderful job taking care of our 2 energetic weimaraners. She kept us informed of their activities and sent lots of photos. She walked both dogs and played Frisbee Would definitely use Abbey again to take care of our dogs

Abbey has consistently been a great sitter. Takes care of the house, leaves it super clean, takes good care of the cat, and communicates frequently which we like. Thank you again!

Abbey stayed with Lambert for a week in our house and took care of everything. Abbey is *super* dependable, great communications, and an excellent caretaker for the cat and the house. We love having Abbey and we highly recommend working with her!

Abbey is great, friendly, and responsible. I’m very happy with our experience
