“Tom was wonderful! Our dog is usually really nervous around strangers and we’re pretty used to coming home to a skinnier version of her but she seemed to really enjoy being around him. Would definitely ask him to look after them again.”

“Cat is such a trustworthy person, I never have to worry when she’s caring for my pets. I have used her multiple times and every time I am so thankful for her help.”

“Guillermo was awesome taking care of my dog. He went above and beyond taking care of her he took her to the pond and took her on a car ride which she loves. When I got back and said my goodbyes to Guillermo my dog kept looking back at the door waiting for him to come back and stay. I will absolutely use Guillermo in the future based on how happy he made my dog and with his communication throughout. 10/10 guy👍”

“Asia took wonderful care of my Yorkie over the course of two days this week. She is friendly, diligent, professional, communicative, and very kind. Your pet could not possibly be in a better hands. She has a great love for animals and it shows in her work.”

About: Having grown up in a multi-pet household myself, I know first-hand the level of care and dedication that owning pets entails. I began petsitting when I was 12 years old, and have greatly enjoyed doing such in the years since. Friends, family, and neighbors have entrusted me on many occasions to take care of their pets. Aside from petsitting, I worked at a doggy daycare for nearly two years, where I built genuine and deeply meaningful bonds with all of the dogs in my care. I’ve worked with dogs of all shapes and sizes, temperaments, personalities, and energy levels. I have experience with training young puppies, including my own. I am very knowledgeable in reading animal body language and understanding animal behavior. I understand that every dog or cat is unique in their own way and that building trusting and meaningful relationships with animals take time and patience. With this, I try to meet every cat or dog where they are at and adjust my approach where necessary. For example, with shy or timid pets, I like to give them the space they need and work slowly to build trust and confidence to where they are fully comfortable in my presence. I am committed to making every visit a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. I’m currently working part-time at the moment, so I’ll have plenty of time to play and care with your pet(s). The routine for each visit will depend on your pets’ needs, personality, temperament, and energy level. I will send pictures and updates of how your pet is doing by text throughout the day. I’ll make sure your pets have an positive and enjoyable experience, get plenty of play time/exercise, enrichment, and attention. Your pets’ safety is of utmost importance, and I’ll do everything in my power to make sure the environment is safe at all times. This could include but not limited to making sure to close or lock doors behind me, gating off rooms that are off-limit, crating your pet at night or when I leave, keeping things your pet may get to out of reach or locked away, following medication or feeding schedules, taking dogs’ out more frequently or at given times throughout day, being respectful of any allergies you, your household, or pet(s) may have. This will depend on you and your pets’ needs. As always, I’ll send updates and pictures throughout the day.
“This was Beatriz’s first time with our puppy Bubba. She was on time and sent pupdates during the day. The house was clean and our dog was very happy! Two happy humans as well.”

About: I grew up having 3 dogs and caring for them. They have bad anxiety so I’m really good with comforting anxious dogs. Also if they have certain medications and timing. I currently have a senior dog so I understand the stress of making sure they get proper care. Since I’m a college student my summer is more open so I have an incredibly flexible schedule. I’m an early riser so I’m able to help in the mornings as well. The weekends are more tricky but I could make it work if needed. My own dogs do not do great with other pets due to their anxiety so I would not be able to bring pets back to my home. However, I am able to sit at a house and do over nights. I am comfortable going in to feed them or take them on walks as well.
“Carina was amazing! She watched Oliver for the day on super short notice and was so great with him. She sent pictures and updates throughout the day, which I really appreciated. Oliver seemed so happy and well taken care of. I would definitely have Carina watch Oliver again and highly recommend her!”

About: I don't have any experience on pet care but would love to get experience I do have two cats of my own and love pets I do play with my two cats and put food and water down and I also play with my sisters three dogs and four cats The way I care for pets in my house is I play with the dogs and cats and I left the dogs outside if they need to go out
“Jamie took great care of our dog. She was communicative and was able to help us out last minute. Callie seemed to have a great time and felt very comfortable with Jamie. We will definitely rebook!”

“As someone dog sits myself, I am very particular about who we trust to watch our pups. This is our second time having Kaitlyn sit for the girls and we feel so, so grateful to have found her. She is very trustworthy, responsible, and caring. I know they are in the best hands with Kaitlyn and the girls are already looking forward to seeing her again in June!”

About: I absolutely adore taking care of all types of dogs! Recently my family dachshund Chihuahua mix of 17 years passed away, and now, with the house empty, I’ve been looking for more ways to fill it again with love and care. I can’t wait to meet your pup! I’m an actress with a flexible schedule and a part time server with plenty of time to take care of your pups! I have my own car with plenty of space to transport multiple dogs. I have a big fenced in yard for pups to run around and play with toys! I am an active sitter and make sure dogs are attended to at all times.
“Once again, TJ was absolutely amazing with our two dogs! We were gone on our honeymoon for 11 days and he took care of our pups and gave us frequent updates on how they were doing. He even went so far as to help with snow removal after a big snowstorm at our house while still walking them both twice a day. We will always look to be booking TJ for any time away from our pups and will refer our family and friends to him as well.”

“So thrilled we found Barbara!!!! We were able to relax on our vacation knowing our dog was in good hands. Barbara checked in every day and gave us a little update on JJ and totally gave us permission to not worry about anything. Loved that she treated him like her own while we were gone.”

“Just the absolute best! Took incredible care of our dogs while we were away, and went above and beyond in handling everything capably, professionally, and thoughtfully. 10/10 would hire again!”

“Julia was simply amazing! She took care of our dog as if it were her own. She stayed with her the entire 3 days we were gone! Cleaned up the house, washed the sheets and made the bed!! Truly an amazing person and I'd recommend her for any length of time to care for your pet worry free! Thank you Julia! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

About: I have had dogs since I was a child. Throughout the years I have owned Shepards, Rottweilers and most recently Boxers. They have been a part of our family since before I can remember but after losing our last Boxer “babies” and with the kids now in college, I have decided to pour my love for dogs into taking care of yours. It was always stressful leaving our dogs so let me take some of that stress away from you. I promise to stay in contact, send pictures and give them a home away from home. I work 3 minutes from home with a typical workday being 8-4 with an hour lunch. Although I will say this is pretty flexible. However, my husband works from home so there is always someone home. I am happy to come to your home to take your dog for a walk or to let him/her out in your yard. I can also feed him/her and give any needed medications. Or in my home, they will be treated like our own. We do allow pets on the furniture if that is what they are used to and accept dogs that are not crate trained.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ballardvale
Catherine gave our senior kitty wonderful care and attention over two overnights and days. She was also patient and responsive to these first-time clients over-concerned about being away from our cat. We so appreciated the updates, photos, videos, and reassurances, and now feel much more confident about leaving him, especially under Catherine's care. Thank you so much.

Kamilla was absolutely amazing with Oliver! She stayed with him for 3 nights and went above and beyond in every way. She even got him a new toy and a pup cup, which I’m know he loved. It was clear she genuinely cared about making sure he was happy and comfortable, not just looked after. I came home to one very content pup. Will 100% be booking again and highly recommend Kamilla to anyone looking for a sitter who truly treats your dog like their own!

Julia did a wonderful job watching our senior lab mix in our home for a long weekend. She sent us regular updates about how our dog was doing and was easy to communicate with. He is on several medications that she administered perfectly. She was respectful of our home and left it just like it was when we left (probably better). We would absolutely hire her again.

Monika was wonderful. She had to take care of two dogs who do not get along with each other, a visiting dog and the dog in residence. She did a great job of caring for each dog and taking each of them for a walk. She kept the peace and all was well when we got home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ballardvale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ballardvale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ballardvale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ballardvale. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
