Elena was great! She was very communicative, and asked questions when she had questions. She was very good with my dog who can be guarded until he gets to know. She was patient and caring with him until he felt comfortable with her. I would definitely recommend her!

About: I've been taking care of pets for neighbors and family friends for the past 4 years, and loved every second of it! I've been able to cuddle with puppies while watching a movie, wrestle with some teens pups and begrudgingly let them win, and I've taken calm walks around the backyard with a senior dog. I'm currently in school, so my day doesn't begin until 4 on weekdays, perfect for house sitting and sunset walks! On weekends, my schedule is completly free! I do have some Sunday morning commitments, as I work childcare for my church, but it has a flexible schedule for whatever you or your furry friend might need! I love to match the energy of pet and owner, so I can always provide the best experience. I'm able to lounge with some calm cats or play in the yard with some energetic puppies. I can take walks around your neighborhood, or go for drives if that's your pets vibe. In the end, if the pet is happy then so am I 😊

Robert was wonderful! He was on time, very kind and took special care with our elderly and blind dachshund. She needs extra attention on walks and outside around our pool, he was very patient and understanding with this. He provided photos and detailed updates on how she was doing. Our house was spotless and our dog was calm and content when we arrived back home. We will be booking Rob for future dates.

Kristina did a great job with our GSD Max. She showed up early, cuddled and played with Max, sent photos, cleaned up after herself and went way beyond what she was asked to do. Most impressive. She's a keeper in my book. Will definitely use her again. dg

We couldn’t be happier with our experience! She did an amazing job watching our dogs and went above and beyond by also taking care of the house and watering all of our plants. She was incredibly responsible, reliable, and gave us such peace of mind while we were away. Our dogs were happy and well cared for, and everything at home looked perfect when we returned. We will absolutely be using her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter!

I can’t say enough good things about Sarah!! She was so professional and caring for our babies while we were on vacation! One of our pups very anxious and can be aggressive towards new people. She was so patient and skilled in letting him come to her in his own time. She provided us so many updates, pictures, and videos to keep our minds at ease!! She asked for instructions and followed everything to perfection!! I would use her for dog care over and over again!!! So glad we found her!!

We have two senior dogs with mobility limitations, health issues, and complicated medicine schedules. When we needed to go away overnight, Kaitlynn provided care at our home, which is best for our dogs. She not only took great care of Callo and Hamish, but also our turtle, house plants, and more! We would highly recommend having Kaitlynn care for them again.

About: Hello! I am a pet lover who grew up with Boston terriers from ages 10-12 (20+). I also grew up working with dogs (Border Collies) on ranches, working side by side on various tasks. Because of my experience and comfort with dogs, I have been dog-sitting for friends and family my whole life. I have some experience caring for cats, including my sisters' and friends' cats (5+ years). I am very active and can exercise or entertain your pet with play or runs. I have rarley met a dog that I wasn't able to build trust with. I am a graduate student whose internship starts on the 27th of July. So I have complete availability then. Outside of that, I am typically free after 5 pm on weekdays and completely free on weekends. I ensure to follow all the rules the pet owner has established. I will use commands and language the dog is familiar with to avoid confusion. I make sure the pets are exercised 2-3 times a day. Cleaned and brushed if needed. I am mindful of water intake and make sure that all pets are kept on their usual schedule.

About: I’ve been dog sitting and house sitting for about 4 years now, caring for all kinds of pets from chill, low maintenance dogs to super high-energy ones that need a lot of attention and exercise. I’m very comfortable with daily routines like feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and even giving medications if needed. I’ve also cared for multiple pets at once, so I know how to manage different personalities and keep everything running smoothly. Since I’m active, I make sure dogs actually get real exercise and attention not just the bare minimum. Whether that’s longer walks, play sessions, or just keeping them company, I adjust based on what your pet needs. I also have a lot of experience staying in clients’ homes, so I understand the importance of keeping things clean, secure, and exactly how you left them. I treat both your pets and your home with respect. My goal is always to make sure your pet feels comfortable and you feel completely at ease while you’re away. My schedule is pretty flexible, so I’m able to give pets a lot of attention throughout the day. I’m active and like being out, so walks, playtime, and check-ins fit naturally into my routine. I’m available most days for walks, drop-ins, and house sitting, and I do my best to work around your pet’s normal schedule so everything feels consistent for them. I always treat every home and pet with respect, like it’s my own. I make sure doors are secure, routines are followed, and your pet is always safe and comfortable. I pay attention to details like feeding, behavior, and surroundings so nothing gets overlooked. Whether I’m in your home or stopping by, my goal is to keep things clean, calm, and stress-free for your pet.

About: Hi there! I’m Zandra, an animal lover with over 9+ years of experience caring for dogs and cats. I take pride in being calm, clean, dependable, and fully present with the pets I care for. Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy their companionship and love making them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their people are away. Every sit, walk, or drop in is important to me—it’s a chance to provide steady care, companionship, and peace of mind for both pets and their humans. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine. Since I work remotely, I’m home and available for plenty of attention, walks, play, and snuggles throughout the day. I keep a calm, clean environment and love having pets as my companions while I work. Feeding, potty breaks, lap cuddles, or a good game of fetch all fit easily into my schedule. I’m also working toward my Dog Trainer certification, so every interaction with a pet is a chance to practice patience, consistency, and lots of love. When house sitting, I treat your home and pets as if they were my own. I follow your routines for feeding, potty breaks, walks, and any special instructions, giving pets plenty of companionship, cuddles, and attention while you’re away. I also keep your home clean, organized, and secure, so you can relax knowing everything is taken care of. For dog walking, I provide safe, fun, and engaging walks tailored to your dog’s energy level and personality, making sure they get exercise, mental stimulation, and lots of love along the way. I aim to make every walk enjoyable and stress-free for your paw pals.

FAQs for House Sitting - Avra Valley

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Avra Valley on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 771 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Avra Valley. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Avra Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Avra Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Avra Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Avra Valley. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
