“Virginia was a lifesaver! We needed a dog/house sitter last minute, and she gladly accepted without hesitation. She even showed up at 5 AM when we were panicking about our puppy Chico barking and the neighbors possibly complaining. That alone already meant so much to us. She took such great care of Chico, played with him, kept him entertained, and he genuinely seemed to have an amazing time with her. We came home to a happy pup and a clean house, which says everything about how thoughtful and responsible she is. We’re super grateful for her help and would absolutely book her again. Highly recommended! 💛🐾”

“Tracy was a great!! My dogs absolutely loved her, they seemed absolutely calm and happy when we walked thru the door, which is the ultimate test! She was quick at responding and very professional efficient and friendly! I’ll be using her services again! Diane”
About: I offer calm, personalized care in a quiet home where your dog is treated like family, not one of many in a busy boarding facility or a home with multiple dogs. I typically host one household at a time, so your dog gets my full attention, genuine affection, and all the cuddles they can handle. My home is the right fit for friendly dogs who love companionship, walks, and settling into a peaceful routine. I'm especially drawn to dogs who thrive with one-on-one attention rather than the noise and energy of a busy multi-dog environment. I'm certified in Pet CPR, Healing Touch for Animals, and Reiki. And beyond the credentials, I'm deeply attuned to each dog's personality and energy. That attunement is what helps them settle in quickly and feel genuinely at ease. My connection to animals runs deep. I spent five years volunteering at Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, working in both the mammal department and wildlife hospital with injured and recovering animals. That experience sharpened my understanding of animal behavior and reinforced something I already believed: animals feel safety before they understand it. My goal is always to create that feeling from the moment your dog arrives! Because I work from home, pets in my care are rarely left alone for long periods and receive plenty of attention, walks, and companionship throughout the day. When pets stay in my home, they become part of a calm and comfortable daily routine. I primarily host dogs from 1 household at a time so each pet receives plenty of individual attention. Dogs here enjoy daily walks, playtime, and relaxed downtime, and I’m home much of the day since I work from home. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality and needs so they feel safe and settled. For drop-in visits or walks in a client’s home, I follow the pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, fresh water, walks, litter care for cats, playtime, and companionship. I’m happy to send photo updates so owners know their pets are doing well.
“Erica was an amazing dogsitter for my 2 pups! She was super communicative and kept in touch the whole time with messages and photos. She took extra care with my more tricky and shy pup, which I greatly appreciated. It was so nice knowing they were in great hands! Would definitely recommend!”
“Monica was amazing! The first day we met and talked with her for our meet and greet, we were immediately at ease with having her sit for our dog and home. When we were away, we could tell that Monica was so kind, thoughtful and playful with Coco. She played with her toys with her, threw the ball, spent time in the yard and took her on neighborhood walks. She also took her on car rides and in general treated Coco like she was her own. We got so many adorable pictures and updates, and when we got home from our trip, Coco was calm and happy. We could not be more pleased. Also, Monica took beautiful care of our house and administered all of Coco's medications throughout the day. We would hire Monica to sit again in a heartbeat.”

“Monica took great care of my aging, somewhat needy pittie and her sister kitty, and kept me informed with messages and photos. Great communication! My house was left clean and linens washed. My deck plants were also well taken care of. Hope for a repeat someday.”

“Amanda did a great job caring for my two old ladies and taking care of my home. I felt very comfortable having her in my home. She kept in touch while I was away, kept my plants alive, left my house clean, and my girls were happy!”

About: I bring more than 20 years of professional experience in veterinary medicine and animal welfare, caring for pets and supporting the people who love them. My background includes veterinary hospital leadership and many years with the San Francisco SPCA, and I'm also Fear Free Certified. I have extensive experience with pets of all ages, personalities, and needs, including puppies, seniors, anxious or fearful pets, multi-pet households, medication routines, and pets who may need a little extra patience and attention. My Fear Free training helps me recognize signs of fear, anxiety, and stress and adjust my approach so each pet can feel as safe and comfortable as possible. My veterinary background also means I pay attention to the little things. I'm accustomed to noticing changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, energy, or overall wellbeing and communicating concerns promptly. Most importantly, I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else's care. I'll treat your pets like they're my own, follow their routines closely, and make sure you get plenty of updates and photos while you're away. My schedule is currently very flexible, which gives me plenty of availability for walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting throughout the week. I'm available weekdays and weekends and can accommodate morning, daytime, and evening visits. I also understand how important consistency is for pets, so I'll do my best to keep their normal feeding, walking, medication, and bedtime routines intact while you're away. With more than 20 years of experience in veterinary medicine and animal welfare and Fear Free certification, I'm very comfortable caring for pets with different personalities, behaviors, ages, and needs. When caring for pets in your home, I'll follow your instructions closely and treat your home with the same care and respect I'd want someone to show mine. I'll double-check doors, gates, leashes, and other safety details, keep your pet's environment clean, and provide detailed updates and photos so you always know how things are going. I know you're trusting me with two things that matter enormously—your pet and your home—and I don't take either responsibility lightly.
“Rebecca has been house sitting for Mikko and Kona most of this year, and she is absolutely fantastic with them! She is ultra dependable and takes care of them! She has even helped with some other friend’s dogs when they were in a bind. I could not be more grateful for Rebecca and her care!!”

About: I grew up with animals all my life. From cats and dogs to parrots, mice, sugar gliders etc. I own 2 dogs myself and love them with all my heart. I’m comfortable with different temperaments and ages. I fostered and volunteered at several shelters throughout my life. I love animals and will make sure to take care of yours like my own. I have a flexible schedule and own a vehicle which makes same day bookings a breeze. If you ever need someone to help I’m there :) My dogs are spoiled and loved. I keep them safe and healthy. I would do my best to take care of your pets like you want me to.
“Halona was great. We were out of town and she made sure that Athena was happy. She stepped in when our other person wasn’t available. She made our trip easy because we knew Athena would be taken care of. We will definitely use her again.”
“Danielle is AMAZING!!!! We had a last minute situation and we needed someone to watch our 2 huskies for a day. She responded instantly, made things super easy, arrived on time, communicated during the day with us. We got multiple pictures and videos, and we knew there was nothing to worry about. She gave us the piece of mind we were looking for. Will DEFINITELY, 100% book again! Thank you!!!!!”

About: Hello! My name is Aileen, I am 23 years old. I have always loved animals since I was a kid. I’ve always been a huge dog person but I love cats as well. I give animals so much care, comfort, and love like they deserve. I treat my dogs the same and I love them to pieces. I have a small Maltese named Bonbon and a yorkie mix named Lilo! My uncles have traveled a lot over the years and they have 5-6 dogs that I would come feed and check on them daily. I am very trustworthy and I will make sure your dogs get the care they need. What sets me apart from other sitters is that I will love your dog like they’re my own. I am currently attending Diablo Valley College but only for the summer. I do have a set schedule for my homework and pet care. I am currently a part time caregiver for children on the spectrum. I work with my client Wednesdays and during the weekend. The rest of the week is for me to dogsit/dog walk. I have lots of experience dog sitting and I will make sure to put your pet as my priority when they are in my care.

“Brenna was amazing. She came last minute (we had another Rover who got sick and has to cancel) and was perfect for our very new, very sweet, very anxious about people and separating from her people pup (15 lb chihuahua terrier mix). Brenna knew just how to be around our anxious dog, and our dog warmed up to her quickly. Our dog let Brenna hold her and cuddle her and even take her outside a few times while we were gone - nothing short of a miracle with this pup. I will be going back to Brenna again as often as needed!”

“Sydney was very sweet with my pets and sent me pictures to let me know my cat was thriving while I was away. She was communicative and responsible, following all my instructions. I will definitely use her again!”

“Fiona was a great dog-sitter for my girl Cookie! She was communicative, showed up on time, and did great with Cookie. I felt confident that she understood my instructions for Cookie’s care and I felt very comfortable leaving her with Cookie. I also really appreciated the pictures she took of Cookie throughout their time together (it def helped to give me peace of mind). We are looking forward to seeing Fiona again 🎉🐶”

Mia watched our pup for 2.5 weeks. Our pup has a back condition so I was nervous to leave him, but she was great with him and following our instructions. I also got to meet her boyfriend and sister before we went on our trip and felt very comfortable with everyone. It was nice that she got to come a few days before we left so we could go over all the instructions. She was also flexible on her departure time when we thought we were going to miss our flight and come home late. Our house was clean and in great condition when we got home. Thanks Mia! We'd definitely recommend.

Trinity is the best! She takes her job seriously, and Milo adored her! He’s normally hi anxiety when we are gone, yet he seemed quite calm and happy. Trinity took lots of photos and some videos too!….kept us up to date! Will def use her again! Thanks Trinity! Milo says “any time!” Diane and Jocelyn

Aida stayed at our home and cared for our dog and cat for 10 days while we were away, and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. She was incredibly responsible, reliable, and proactive throughout our trip. She sent updates and photos every day. When we returned home, everything was spotless, and it was clear that Aida had taken excellent care of both our pets and our home. In fact, our pets weren’t quite as excited to see us as they usually are when we get back from a trip. We take that as a great sign that they had been happy and receiving plenty of attention while we were away! We’d recommend Aida to anyone looking for a pet sitter, and we will absolutely be booking with her again for future trips.

Marcia came through for me on very short notice and I’m so glad I found her! She was very communicative, always sending photos of my pups and keeping me updated on their days! Marcia was also super helpful with other things around my house like checking the mail and feeding my fish. She spent so much time with them that I could see in the photos how their comfort levels grew each day! Would definitely book again!

Jessica is a wonderful pet sitter. I was very worried about leaving my old cats for a couple of days and Jessica was so kind and responsible that it eased my worries. She was able to give my cat three liquid medications and help him eat. The cats seemed happy and well cared for when we returned home. In addition, she was flexible with schedule changes and very responsive over text. I could not recommend her enough!
Ashley is absolutely amazing! She stayed at our home with Manchas for 15 days while we were on vacation, and she did an incredible job. She kept us updated every day with pictures and videos and always let us know how Manchas was doing and what they were up to. We truly appreciate everything she did and would 100% recommend her without hesitation. Thank you so much, Ashley—you’re awesome! Manchitas loves you just as much as we do 💕🐾

Lizzie is the absolute best! We have an old dog set in her ways who takes medications throughout the day and Lizzie is great with her. She gives us prompt feedback morning and night and sends cute pictures and videos. We are so grateful for the peace of mind while we’re away. Our pup loves her visits! 🐕

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 7,417 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Avon. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Avon walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Avon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Avon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Avon. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
