About: I have been taking care of pets for the past two years. I love all breeds of dogs from small to big. I have done housesitting, visits, and dog walks. I cannot wait to meet more dogs! Pet care works with me almost every day that I am in town. I can work most hours and find time for your dog. I have lots of extra time I would love to spend walking a dog outside. I can care for any pet in any way the owner wishes. This is an addition to playing and giving the animal my full attention.

About: I'm a teacher during the day, so my hours are flexible, especially during the summer. I'm a dog and a cat lover and would love to have some extra dog company. My two cats are used to dogs and don't mind them at all. I will go the extra mile to care for your fur babies as I would take care of mine. My first two dogs I had when I was younger, were Schipperkes named Skylar and Sampson. They were very hyper and lots of fun to walk around. I think I ended up making a ton of friends when I would take them with me because they were so interesting. That's what I like about dogs, they bring people together; love to all!

About: I have taken care of dogs of every kind and size since I was 8 years old. I have cared for puppies and senior dogs. I’m currently transitioning out of the military and will be attending school this fall so my schedule is very flexible and I am able to care as much as I am needed. I have walked and cared for pets in many different homes. I always make an effort to provide the safest environment for the dogs and make the owners feel comfortable with me caring for their pet.

About: I have had a dog since I was 4 years old. She is 16 now, and she’s queen bee around our house! She’s had two ACL surgeries in the past, and now her back legs are unfortunately atrophied. Throughout these years, I have gained experience administering medicine, spoon feeding, and helping her walk. My family recently adopted a second dog, who was born in Ukraine and deals with pretty severe anxiety. We still have a ways to go with him, but the progress he has made has been amazing. I go to Ave Maria so I will be available during the whole school year! I do play lacrosse which is a spring sport however, I still tend to be decently flexible. I can find time to visit during the day and I am open to staying overnight! A lot of exercise and playtime. Meals and medicine 1-4 times a day depending on the breed and size. Some treats and lots of love!

Victoria is terrific. She spent 7 days with my dog and cat as an in house sitter. Communication while I was away was just right - I especially enjoyed the photos and videos. All in order with the house when I arrived home - maybe even better than I left it! Most important, my pets were happy and contented.

Charles took great care of my dog! My dog is a lot to handle but Charles was more than capable. He came by for a meet & greet to get familiar with him and I definitely felt comfortable enough to leave to a multiple day festival while he watched my dog. Charles was also very respectful of my apartment and my neighbors who like to hang out with my dog on his walks only had positive things to say. Would definitely recommend and book again.

My dogs loved Jenelle and so did we! We could tell from the interactions that they were in very capable and loving hands. Throughout the stay, Jenelle sent numerous photos (and texts) of her playing, exercising and cuddling with both Ivy and Harley We left detailed instructions for the care of our house and pets which she followed to our greatest satisfaction. Our house was spotless when we returned and both dogs were happy and content We have finally met a very responsible and affectionate young lady that we can entrust with the care of our home and pets to. We plan on hiring Jenelle in the future and highly recommend her services. When it comes to trusting the care of both home and pets to someone and having peace of mind in doing so, we have been truly blessed with Jenelle. 🙂

About: Hello! I’m Kelby, a lifelong dog and cat lover with years of experience caring for pets of all sizes and personalities. I’ve grown up with animals my whole life, and today I share my home with a Chihuahua, a Labrador, a cat, and three family cats. My pet care journey started in childhood walking neighbors’ dogs, helping friends with their pets, and pet sitting whenever someone needed a hand. By 18, I enrolled in Animal Behavior College and turned that my passion into a profession, becoming an ABCDT-certified trainer and pet care provider. I’ve now worked professionally with dogs and cats for over four years, and I especially love helping anxious, fearful, or reactive pets feel safe and understood. I can’t wait to meet your furry family members and give them all the love and care they need. Pet care is part of my everyday life. Not only as a pet parent but also working professionally with dogs. My dogs and I love to go to the beach, parks, and anywhere we can find that’s fun to sniff! My schedule can be complex at times so please reach out for more information. Your pets safety always comes first. I will keep a close eye on your pet along with their body language to make sure they’re comfortable and happy in any situation. With my CPR and First Aid training, I’m prepared for emergencies, but my goal is always to prevent issues before they happen.

As an animal lover, with years of experience caring for both cats and dogs of all ages, I understand how important it is to find someone you can truly trust. I have experience with puppies, adult dogs, and senior dogs, as well as cats of all ages and temperaments. I’m comfortable following feeding schedules, administering oral medications if needed, and sticking to your pet’s normal routine. I am also CPR & First Aid certified, licensed and insured. Every dog is different, and I believe they deserve care that’s personalized to their needs and personality. ⸻ 🦴 Services I Offer • Daily dog walks • Drop-in visits • Puppy potty breaks • Feeding and fresh water • Playtime and enrichment • Belly rubs and lots of cuddles • Overnight boarding in your home where your fur baby is already comfortable with their space and surroundings. (Willing to board in my home as well if you prefer) • Picture, video and text updates daily • End of day puppy / dog report card • Last minute visits are always welcome 🤗 ❤️ What Makes Me Different When your pet stays with me, they’re treated like family—not just another booking. I keep my schedule flexible so your dog or cat receives plenty of attention, exercise, affection, and one-on-one care throughout the day. I offer flexible scheduling for daily walks, drop-in visits, and boarding. Whether you’re working long hours, planning a vacation, or simply need an extra hand, I’ll do everything I can to accommodate your pet’s needs. 🐾 Safety, Trust & Environment Your pet’s safety, happiness, and comfort are always my highest priorities. I understand that trusting someone with your furry family member is a big decision, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. I am a CPR/FIRST AID PET-certified caregiver, I’m attentive, dependable, and committed to providing a safe, loving environment where your pet feels comfortable and secure. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and individual needs so I can provide the best care possible. Whether we’re enjoying a walk, playing outside, or relaxing at home, your pet will always be supervised and treated with patience, kindness, and plenty of affection. My goal is to make their time away from you as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. You’ll also receive regular photo and video updates, along with text messages, and an end of day report card so you can relax knowing your best friend is happy, safe, and well cared for. Because to me, pets aren’t just animals—they’re family, and I’ll care for yours the same way I’d want someone to care for mine.

FAQs for House Sitting - Ave Maria

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ave Maria on Rover is $42.53 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 631 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ave Maria. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ave Maria walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ave Maria maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ave Maria choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ave Maria. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
